Such an awesome find from Etsy shop with the beautiful stitching by Ann! You had to have been given an angel directing you to save these lovely pieces and rightly deserved I might say. The time, love and creativity that goes into those pieces will live on in your lovely mill😀. And I am thinking I need to learn how to knit seeing your lovely sock patterns! Oh boy that will be a rabbit hole 🕳️ for sure haha.🤣 seriously they are so stinking cute! Thank you for looking into sharing your “heel” stitching with all of us later on in the Fall. Have a great August stitching all the things.

We all hope that when we’ve gone our stitching will mean something to somebody as part of our legacy- and it gives me hope that even those people who are sadly on their own in life, stitching away- maybe their work will end up in a charity shop or a sale and end up being truly loved and appreciated by someone like you. I sometimes feel bad about changing samplers to fit my family but think it might be time to try with this one of tiger lily’s. I still feel like I don’t know all the rules when it comes to reproductions & originals. Your Etsy finds too wow what a treasure to find all those things. Enjoy the fixing up and of course any time you can be with your kids it’s a good day. Happy almost end of summer friend. The shaker boxes that are not from Orleans are from Frye’s Measure Mill. Much of the linen in the pages of needle books on Merry’s projects is antique linen. I’m sure many of the accessories are antiques. You really did acquire a valuable treasure! So glad these wonderful things did not end up in Goodwill.

Almost made me cry too! We all joke about our kids not wanting our cross stitch and have instructed all our cross stitch friends to go to our houses immediately when we pass and take our stuff so that it is never seen at a yard sale or resale shop. This lot of history was meant for you!! It always breaks my heart when I see hand made items in second hand shops or antique shops. I always wonder why families don’t treasure the handmade items. It warmed my heart to hear the story about your son. I am not even sure if my boys or husband notice what joy my stitching brings to me. But I love doing it no matter what!! I have always loved that sampler basket by Hillside Samplings. I have a couple of kits for other HS projects that I need to get to in my stash! I have stitched the Merry Cox huswife. It was also on the cover of an Antique Samplers and Needlework magazine and Lois from Lady Dot Creates offered a complete kit when she had her shop (Elegant Stitch). I have begun to do the finishing. So wonderful to see it done. But if someone wants to do it I’m sure the pattern is in the full magazine collection CD you can buy.

Hi Shellie - I have to say I was very emotional when you showed the finished pieces you found on Etsy. The basket with pin cushion and needlebook are not my designs but oh, so lovely. The sewing roll lined in blue silk was my piece featured on the cover of Sampler & Antique Needlework 2002. I designed ‘House on the Hill’ and first taught this set in Williamsburg. Everyone in class even coffee dyed their own piece of linen. I love writing a little poem for my pieces so ‘House on the Hill’ has one as well as the ‘Sailor’s Huswif’. I designed the ‘Sailor’s Huswif’ and also first taught it in Williamsburg. The next year I designed and taught the ‘Ditty Box’ with pocket and accessories for the Sailor’s Huswif. After introducing these designs in Williamsburg, I then taught them many more times at seminars and guilds. My designs were only available for my classes. Ann McLaughlin did such extraordinary stitching and finishing. I am so happy that you will love and cherish her work. Thank you for sharing. With love, Merry Cox

I may have never known Ann but her outstanding work and execution of your beautiful patterns will be held in such high esteem and treasured here in my home.
Mingled with you telling the story of your work makes these pieces even more precious. Thank you so much for chiming in, it truly means the world to hear about your work and the stories that make up the life of these treasures.
      Many blessings to you

I have to tell you, when you stated that your wheel was squeaky, I laughed so hard. I was watching you on my deck while I was stitching. I was also feeding my chipmunks and squirrels. I wear hearing aides and I was getting angry because I thought our neighborhood pair of hawks were screeching because they wanted to get our chippies. Good morning Shelly, miss enabler! I am usually able to resist your great temptations but this time you got me big time! I love the set of scissors and things that you got for your knitting bag. Can you point me in the right direction please to purchase a set or two! Lol. And while we are in knitting, I have been talking with Holly and even tho I have knitted for a long time I have been hesitant to try socks. She is encouraging me to bite the bullet and try them and now I have discovered the person with the pattern for the easy heel! Would you be willing to share that with me so I can add one more thing to my habit please? And lastly the log caving quilt you showed is stunning. I am also a quilter of sorts and have always wanted to do a log cabin and the one you are doing is fabulous and when you mentioned it can also be done in ble I was sunk!!!! Can you tell me where to purchase the pattern and kit for it please? It is fabulous! Thank you so much for your wonderful floss tubes and keep up the enabling. Love both you and Holly! Thanks, Rene

Can you please share your pattern for your heel when knitting your socks? I love to knit socks but have difficulty with the heel. I am not an accomplished knitter. I have knit about a half dozen pairs but still am learning. Your knitting project looks so nice. Love watching your videos!

Hello from Tennessee! ? Do you sell your knit sock heel pattern ? I love knitting and have worked on socks so many times and the heel always kills the project. I've finished a few, but the heel is never quite right. Please let me know. 😊😊😊😊😊 Your antique finds were just amazing. I'm so glad they will be in the hands of someone that will cherish them. ❤❤❤

In your quilting section, what is the name of the fabric line for the center you used? I go to L&L often in Madison IN and would like to pick up a yard of it. Love everything you show☺
