You have been missed and this was delightful. I feel like I could go down the rabbit hole of wool appliqué. I went to the very same cross stitch store when Stan and I went to Paris. Brought back lovely memories of our day in that area. Thank you for sharing. Happy stitching.

I have a friend who swears by 40 count but just gave 56 a try a few days ago and is loving it. Just need good light and maybe a magnifier! Thank you so much for watching as always. It's fun to get to share stitching and travel stories (and a bit of everything else!) with people who appreciate it. Much love ❤️
Hi Audrey, I sure enjoy your videos! I've been a quilter for 35 years and to hear someone take on even just one Dear Jane block, by hand no less, warms my heart! I also work a lot with wool, as well as cross stitch. I wanted to mention a book for working with wool that you might want for your library. It's been invaluable to me..."Wool, Needle & Thread" by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings. I look forward to your new embroidery projects, too! Hugs, Candace
Thank you, Candace! I will look for that book and I’ll be sure to share my progress on these new endeavors. Thank you so much for watching and the words of encouragement ❤️
Great video, thanks. I enjoy quilting small table toppers etc and I love wool applique! I buy most of my wool from various stores but I have also bought skirts and a couple of capes & jackets from thrift stores and cut them up for wool applique. The only thing, it must be felted, so I put them through the washing machine and dryer.

Hi Audrey! Welcome back! I love wool appliqué and quilting as well as cross stitch! Maybe you will soon expand from wool appliqué mats to making wool appliqué quilts 😊 …(I have made 3). I will be going to London in a few weeks for work and I’m wondering if you found any cross stitch shops there. I loved seeing the clip from the cute shop in Paris.
Hi! Unfortunately I did not get the chance to explore any stitchy shops in London. Liberty of London is a huge fabric/textile shop that a lot of people like to check out if they have time so I'd check that out but I can't speak from experience as I didn't have time to stop in. Sorry I can't offer any other suggestions but thanks so much for watching! 😊
Carolyn Manning has created some cross stitch designs based on Dear Jane. I am a quilter (and cross stitcher, of course) and got the Dear Jane book so, so many years ago and it still intrigues me. Muslin is also a really popular background/neutral fabric, especially for make reproduction quilts.
Audrey, I hope you get rid of that tooth! How miserable. But I’m glad you toughed it out and did this flosstube. Your travels fascinate me……we are stay-at-homes and happy to be. But I love hearing about your travels with the boys. And I’m most impressed that you are going to branch out a bit and try embroidery, ribbon embroidery and hand piecing! Good for you! I hope you love them all. I’ve tried embroidery and it’s not my gig, but it is very popular now and the work one sees is lovely. Sian the Periwinkle Stitcher does some lovely things and she enjoys it so much. She’s charming. You are not an ‘old hand’ as are Laura and Brenda, but you have become a very experienced stitcher and you have embraced the community and made a place for yourself there. I think that’s quite wonderful. Carol in Texas
Carol, you are so kind. 🥰 I have definitely had some fun trying a couple new things since posting this video and will have plenty to show next time. Very glad to be able to share adventures in travel and in stitching here with you all and I so appreciate you watching and commenting again. Love to hear from you! Happy stitching! ❤️
Ooh one thing I forgot: I had Lisa frame a TINY blessings sampler for me last spring and it’s beyond perfect. And it’s SMALL. Love it. Did a quite chunky frame. It’s sooo good!
Do hope you get your tooth sorted soon. Thank you for another wonderful video. Trouble with interesting videos I have to keep stopping stitching and search out information on the net 🤣 appreciating all your stories and projects. I don’t suppose you know what that fabulous large, black and white, Dutch Quaker style sampler in the window of Le Bonheure les Dames is? I failed to track it down.!
I'm not sure what the pattern is called for the sampler in the window but here is something similar I found on their website : www.bonheurdesdames.com/en/11097-sampler-1852.html Sorry I can't be more helpful! Happy hunting! 😊
Thank you for taking the time to look. I finally found it! It was a Permin HH21249. Thus ‘related’ to the one on Le Bonhear des Dames. Still a few kits to be found out there.
Dear Audrey, We can’t thank you enough for mentioning our Velvet Strawberry Kits on this issue of your StitchStitchBead Flosstube. We are so grateful to you and to all of your friends and followers who ordered kits from us. We could not figure out what was happening, but after asking around a bit, we uncovered the mystery. Thank you so very much for this kindness, from you and all the lovely ladies who have ordered from us.
I've had a request for this before and need a way to set up a camera above me so you can get a good view of my stitching. If I can manage that I will definitely do a stitch-with-me video! ❤️
Hi, Audrey!! I apologize for being very, very late to comment here… I did watch this video when it first came out, and enjoyed it so much! And I forgot to comment because something else captured my attention. But it was on my mind to come back and comment later, so here I am, better late than never, and I did rewatch the video to refresh my memory of it, and yes, it was even better the second time around! I always learn something new from you, and I’m always inspired by your stitching endeavors. And of course, you know how much I love your personality and spirit! ☺️ You may have mentioned this in a past video, but do you use a beading needle to stitch on the 56 count fabric? Those tiny samplers are just remarkable. As always, thank you for sharing all your beautiful goodies with us. Until next time, happy stitching, my friend! 🧵🪡💙 Meline
@@mm-qm9zh Hi, Meline! Thank you so much for the rewatch and the comment. I always love to hear from happy viewers no matter when. ☺️ To answer your question, I use a 28 tapestry needle on every count. I only use beading needles for beading because their sharp points can wear on my fingers after a while. Some say that using a 28 is too large for high count fabrics but I’ve also heard that the larger needle opens up the hole in the fabric which then reduces drag on your floss so I don’t think there’s a wrong way to go! Happy stitching and thanks again for watching! 🥰
Jane Austen Center?? I loved Bath but didn’t even know the center was there, although I went many years ago! I would def do a read along too in September! I’d LOVE to stitch Dorcas too!
Yeah, so I wanted to hop on the Elizabeth Furniss train but you can see why I haven't (yet) because I have so much kitted already! And please join in the read along! A lot of other people are on board and it will be a lovely tie in to Sampler September I think 😁
Thanks for another great video. I'll read Sense and Sensibility with you and Kim (was it Kim?) I have the book. I never tire of rereading Jane Austen. I'm dipping my toes in the quilting water too. I thought I'd start with maybe a throw size. My Mom and both Grandmothers quilted but I never tried. I sew a little. Actually my sewing machine rather intimidates me.😳 I've heard several of our stitching community say recently that we should "try" all the things and believe we can do it!
I think if you have the means and the interest, why not try all the things! I probably will never get into knitting or crocheting but I've always admired quilted pieces so I figured, why not? And thanks for joining in with me and Kim to read S&S! Love the book and it's been too long since I've read it. Thanks for watching! ❤️
I adore The Scarlett Letter patterns and charts, once you start one you are lost in how beautifully they stitch up - you will forget it is not printed in color .
You probably think the Grand Canyon is just a hole in the ground!😂 Perspective usually helps with awe and understanding. When you’re traveling through the chunnel it is interesting to imagine trying to build it, or talking about all the different details that need to come together to make it work. Your kids might be too young to understand what they were seeing or experiencing. When I take my students on field trips they appreciate things way more if they have background. Reading Flags of Our Fathers before seeing the Marine memorial in DC, or reading about the sculptor who made Limcoln’s Emancipation proclamation statue that stands in the capital (young girl from Wisconsin with no formal art education-so short she had to use a pulley system to hoist herself in the air) made the students stop and stare and connect what they knew with what they were seeing. I love watching their faces and expressions when discovering things that they know about. Otherwise it’s just a statue, just a rock, whatever. If it doesn’t light up and move there’s no appreciation. I hope your future trips are more successful.
@@StitchStitchBead this year I’m alternating reading more current books with classics. Trying to get some culture, I guess. Hope your tooth is better. That pain is no fun! Also, I’m a quilter, I hope you like it. I’ve never hand pieced but LOVE hand quilting.
Hi Audrey! I loved stitching the Dear Jane quilt. I started it at least 15 years ago and it took five years on and off completing. You can do it!! :) Hit me up if you want any tips.
I thought, assuming quilting goes well, that a block a week would get Dear Jane finished in about five years so I'm not surprised it has actually taken someone that long! But realistically it will be longer for me lol and I'm okay with that. Thanks so much for offering help, I'm sure I'll have questions when I finally get started! Much love and happy stitching ❤️
Her name is Faye Riggsbee and you can find her on Instagram. Feel free to message her. She should have availability but if not I would also recommend reaching out to Terri at The Old Needle Shop (also on Instagram) who does a lot of finishing as well. Hope this helps! 😊
The pieces of Dear Jane are too small to do on sewing machine (in my opinion). I did mine in mostly blues and hand stitched every bit ( not quilted yet and no way am I doing that by hand). You can do it, it's really easy. Ps! Don't look at La Passacaglia....... you'll really be in trouble 😂 Not boring but classy.
Ha! I'll keep my focus narrow, at least for the time being. 😉 Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm looking forward to getting into Dear Jane and I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks for watching! 😊
Audrey! Good to see you today ! So many comment so could go on and on so will try to edit. Love your small samplers ! I have actually started a stack of small sampler charts I have collected over the last year thinking exactly as you are saying . Sadly that’s as far as I have gotten but I’m headed in that direction! I loved Bath when we went a few visits ago! I just talked to Kim and horned in on your buddy read. But I said I’m a read an actual print book kind of gal no audio books for Jane Austin novels. I’m a weirdo and in my head I have the exact voice I hear for these books and audio books mess that up 😂😂😂😂. I’ll be starting sept 1 with you guys and all the others too I’m sure ! 😂😂📚📖📙📕📘📗🧑🏫 happy stitching to you!
I am so glad you're joining us in our re-read of S&S! The more the merrier and it seems like quite a few people are interested in picking it up come September. And I am with you: I need a paper book! I never pay attention to audio books or podcasts 😂 Thanks again for watching and happy stitching! ❤️

I know that when I get started it will all become clear. Just have to take it one band at a time! Thanks for watching! 😊
Audrey excellent job.
Thank you so much! Happy to share. Thanks for watching 😊
Be warned….of the fiber arts that I do, quilting is the most satisfying! Have fun. You will rock it!
That's what I was afraid of! Another way to enjoy spending money 😂 Thanks for watching!
Pausing the video just to say I’m in the middle of reading Sense and Sensibility right now!!!
Yay! I love it. Can't wait to restart it. ❤️
Would you mind emailing me the information on your finisher? Thanks.
Ps! Don't look at La Passacaglia....... you'll really be in trouble 😂
Not boring but classy.
