This was the best video Shelly. I’m 75 and had never seen any of the lessons you taught. My grandma taught me to sew, etc., but never anything about what you showed me! I’m so excited to try these knots! Thank you! You’re the best!!!
I couldn’t be happier with the “learn with me” segment! Thank you for taking the time to video this. Often times I think people assume too much and this is a prime example of helping others and you have the willingness to do so… thank you for not assuming we know it all! Please keep these “lessons” going as they are SO helpful!💕(Rachel says hi❣️)
This was my first time to watch your floss tube and I really enjoyed it. Very informative. I have been stitching since the early 1980’s and I learned something new. Love listening to you. Thank you.
Thank you! I didnt catch this one when it came out but soooo glad i found it. The pin stitch instructions made what Id been trying to teach myself very clear and now i think i can! But the real gift for me was the "thread on finger" trick to thread a needle! Oh wow! I will still have to use a threader to re-thread 2 strands but oh wow now i can thread one strand without "help"! Thank you! At almost 70 I had never seen that method.
You just changed my life! I have been stitching for 43 years and the 'away knot' is a game changer as I have been flipping my frame over to be sure I was covering my thread in order to anchor it. Wow! Thank you for taking the time to show us these techniques.
Bless your heart, thank you! I’ve been stitching for 42 years and nobody ever taught me any of that ! I love the pin stitch, I will have to try that. I’m a poke and stab stitcher, but have tried two handed.
As a self taught cross stitcher, I am very happy to learn from you the tips you gave in this video! I’ve never seen the threading of a needle as you showed but I’m going to master it now😀. Also the sewing method does look to be so much quicker once you get used to stitching on the top of your fabric. I’ve done the poke and stab method on Aida and now on linen but you taught me a better technique. Thank you for all the content in this video and taking time out of your day to give us some great information with great visual detail! ❤
Thank you , thank you again and again. I hope more tutorials will be in the future. I will be watching this video again and again, until I get the technique down
Thank you for taking the time to show us how to pin stitch! I have always wanted to learn a way to do those pesky single stitches without carrying or having a ton of thread behind the stitch on the back, or just leaving them off altogether. 😊
I had a hard time remembering warp and weft. So now I tell my self that the thread go across wight and weft. Threads go up at warp speed. Stupid, certainly, butcI haven't forgotten again.
I have been stitching fo rthe last 40 years. The best thing i think i ever learnt was the 2 handed way of stitching with my work on a floor frame and the parking method. Before that i had held the material with one hand and stitched with the other. and i am still learning things especially with the threading of the needle. At the moment i am doing a counted stitching Henry VIII on 28 aida and it is so confetti heavy in places lol. WIth these knots it may just be that little bit more easier . I have been using a single thread 1 over 1 and i have been starting off by the same kind of pin stitch *splitting the weave* and been leaving off the same way and making sure the leave off stitch is not seen. I have given you a huge thumbs up and a you have a new subscriber from me . Much love from Australia
I've been stitching for over 50 /60 years. Your lessons were awesome! I can't wait to put in place these new to me techniques . Your video was calm and perfect .Thank you so much 🤗💖
Thank you for the threading the needle portion! I forgot my grandmother had shown me this when I was a little girl . Great demo. I have some beginner stitchers that need to watch this !! Thank you!❤️👍
Thank you awesome video. My name is Marilyn and I am 78 years old and did not know how to do any of this. Been stitching sense the early 80s. Love your regular show. So glad I found you. I thank the lord for all you lovely ladies. God bless. ❤️
Thank you Shellie! This was so helpful. I love the threading of the needle method. I can't wait to try it. I learned to sew, not stitch, from my Kom and we always wet the end of the thread by our to gue. Well, nowadays, that just won't t do so, thank you so much!! Enjoyed seeing g the pin stitch and away stitch although something in the back of my mind tells me I did this in the 80s. I stopped as my thumb would be so painful but picked it up again in 2018, and the thumb is fine. But so much is new to me now. Appreciate you taking your time to show us all these fun techniques. Wishing you a blessed Palm Sunday and Holy Week. 🌴✝️❤️
Thank you Shellie! I am a long time stitcher, but I learned some new tricks today. I really appreciate your willingness to share your time & talent with us. Happy Stitching! xoxo
Thanks for the tutorial. You did a great job stitching through a camera. It must seem like patting your head while trying to rub your tummy- almost impossible! I always learn something of value to my stitching when I tune in to your channel. Thank you again.🪡🪡
Thank you for this great video. I’ve been hearing about the pin stitch but didn’t know how to do it. You have helped greatly. Now maybe I’ll like stitching with one thread better!
Thank you so much for your tutorial on pin stitch. It is so much easier to understand how to do it by watching and not just by seeing pictures. You are always so generous with your time and love of the needlecraft.
YEAH, I just learned how to pin stitch. Thank you for taking the time to show this is such detail. Not only did I learn the pin stitch, you also showed me a new way of the sewing method and the away knots were fantastic. You just made my week!
Thank you again for sharing your knowledge. I stitch on Aida and was very happy to see you demonstrate on both linen and Aida. I have tried the sewing method and imagine my surprise to see how your sewing method is different and seems so much easier than what I’ve been doing. An unintentional hint but very welcomed.
Great video. I use some of the same tie offs and beginnings. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain when and why you would use these types of knots. I am a newer stitcher so I never had a clue about all the types of stitches.
Thank you so much for the demonstration! I did not know all of this, and it will really help me. I like to start from the right, and do the sewing stitch, but I couldn’t figure out all the ways to begin and end the threads. Thank you again!❤
Hi Shellie Thank you so much for this brilliant segment it’s really appreciated. I didn’t know how to do this, but thanks to you I do now. Take care my friend, see you soon. 👵 x p.s. going to practice these two ways tonight.
Thanks for teaching me the pin stitch! Old dogs can learn new tricks! Blessings sweet Shellie! I look forward to your videos and hearing about shops and products and seeing your projects.
Great job teaching all of those techniques! And through a camera no less--you are an awesome teacher. I stitch just like you do--the sewing method in a hoop with the linen a little loosy goosy. The best! I have used the pin stitch for several years, but I haven't seen those other knot methods. Good to know. How you thread your needle is amazing. I tried it but can't do it yet. I will keep practicing because that is cool. Thank you for your time, you are so generous. @cbellsew
Thank you for taking the time to teach this! I appreciate your clear instructions and the Herculean effort this took to stitch through a camera lens! 💕🪡
Great tips and tricks! I need to try threading my needle like this! Pin stitches make the back of your work so much neater! Thanks for showing these methods, I will try an away knot too!!
I do suggest that when using the sewing method to use that throughout the design or throughout the area as sewing does make for a stitch that sticks out more. Also uses more fiber, not that it probably will be noticed if you have lots of fiber.
Oh my goodness, what a fantastic video! 🎉I learned so much! I have been wanting to learn these techniques but I haven’t found a video that I could follow & understand. I kept hearing stitchers talking about these techniques & really wanted to learn. Thank you so very much for taking the time to do this video! I am so grateful to you for helping me to learn. You are amazing gift to the stitching community & me!! 💖
My dear Shellie, kudos to you for the best tutorial on pinning down threads. You are a blessing to us newbies and to experienced stitchers too. If you have time, can you let me know what’s holding your frame. Thank you so much.

I had to watch this about 9 times but I'm now tying on! I can't get over how easy it now is for me to thread the needle and I'm forever grateful for this video!
Shellie, this was very helpful. However, there are questions and more requests. You stated you stitch from left to right. So, I have to assume you always start on the left. I would like to see you demonstrate specialty stitches. Thank you 😊
thank you Shelly for sharing your knowledge; it is interesting to see how different stitchers do things. I had never heard of the pin stitch; will have to try that. I just have always run over my thread for many stitches to secure it. I do so appreciate your educational videos; keep em coming. Getting quite an education on counted cross stitching. very interesting to know why you stitch from left to right (because of needlepoint, interesting). I've always done a row of half stitches and then returned. again, thank you!
Thank you so much for your tutorial, I knew how to pin stitch but I did not know about ending with a pin stitch. It was great timing, I am stitching on a pattern that on the door has one stitch for the door handle. It worked so great, thank you.
Fantastic! So helpful. I have been using the single loop start from the front before and this is so much easier (and quicker). Next, I'll try the "random"/confetti stitch you demonstrated. New subscriber. Really appreciate this clear and concise video.
Wow! That was so very helpful! I took good notes in my phone so I don’t ever forget all the info, along with a few pictures! Can’t thank you enough! Seeing it, along with your explanation, is a sewing miracle for me…even threading the needle!! Thank you x 1,000,000!
Thank you for such a clear lesson on the pin stitch and securing a solitary stitch. I will certainly try these again. I really liked all the options for stitching as well. This video is saved as a resource in my library now.👍
