    TYSM for this vid. I just replicated your design but I didn’t have a jig or confidence to do toe nail (whatever you call that lol). I did manage to find a bunch of ikea wall brackets and used those! I can’t wait to start painting my kitchen. I did my bathroom with brush/roller and it was such a pain.

    t's a cool idea for a small shop and thanks for the demo. The only issue I see, which is a potential problem with any spray booth, is that the negative air flow will pull in dust directly over the work piece thereby contaminating it. Therefore you might want to think about setting up a separate spray area away from where you are doing wood working!

    • @JohnBuildsIt

    3:01 Put your filters on the other side of the fan. This will allow the filter to catch everything, and more importantly, keep the paint, varnish, or whatever you're spraying out of the fan..........preserving the life of the fan.

  • @jimrichardson7056
    @jimrichardson7056 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you thought about putting the filters on the inside of the tent (leaving the fans on the outside)? You could hot glue some magnets to hold them in place. That way you wouldn't have the paint overspray clogging the fabric of the tent screening over time.

    • @JohnBuildsIt
      @JohnBuildsIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am redoing my kitchen with unfinished RTA cabinets and am going to try spraying for the first time in my life, hoping to get a good finish. Your video helped A LOT and earned a subscription from me. I have bought a Graco X5 and am trying to decide what tip to use. I also bought the Rac-X guard and now need a FFLP tip to use with BM Advance. I was going to get a 312 but saw that you mentioned using a 213 in a reply to a comment. I think maybe it was a 212 or 312 as I believe Graco does not make a 213FFLP (all the FFLPs end in an even number). Could you please double check that, and I also would like to know what paint you used and if it has worked well with your tip in general. Thanks very much.

    Is the tent you're using a Small or Medium? You said you wanted a large; however, unable to find on Amazon. I'm about to build cabinets in my woodshed and it's time I invested in a spray tent and build your awesome jig. There has to be a way to create sliding raised points instead of using the pyramid risers. Although a great cheap idea, there has to be a method to keep them attached so when you put the jig away they're stored with it. Nice job on the video - short and to the point with not a lot of extra dialogue and minutes added.

    • @JohnBuildsIt
      @JohnBuildsIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I keep the pyramids attached, rarely have to move them, but easy enough if I do. They have S, M, and L shelters. I have the medium. They’re all linked in the description 👍🏽

  • @Psychlist1972
    @Psychlist1972 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the big version and the smallest one. FWIW, the big one is not as nice because you have to basically put up a tent (thread tent poles etc. not just fold up) AND there's no bottom to it. But it's bigger :P

    • @JohnBuildsIt

  • @bcnubynby4056

    Have you had an issue with the screen of the dome clogging with paint as the fan pulls it through? It presents a design flaw in my opinion. I really like that the paint tent can be collapsed and stored though.

    • @JohnBuildsIt
      @JohnBuildsIt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      After it dries it falls right off the mesh. Can brush it off with your hand, but I usually just run the vacuum over it and it cleans right up👍🏽

    • @JohnBuildsIt
