I know it won’t reach a lot of people: but it’s just a game, please be kind to each other.
Also stressed out to and the last thing I need is logging in to a farm party and dealing with salty folks.
Strangely, playing masocore games like Nioh 2 and Elden Ring have been so much more relaxing than playing FF14 right now.
    Take care of yourselve’s y’all!

Shield Healer here. The reason why I don't PF is straight up because of what you said in the video. I got fed up with being bullied by clueless players who are blaming me/my cohealer for lack of healing/mitigation when the tanks and DPS refuse to use raid wide defensives.
PS: As a former Caster, it boggles my mind that people in PF refuse to use Addle/Feint and expect a P8S clear on week 2/3. Especially when I ask them individually to use their CD's on a specific mechanic and their retort is "10%/5% won't do anything. Just use your CD's".
PPS: Sorry for ranting but I needed to get this off my chest. ^_^

@@Qazqi personally, never seen anyone that refuses to use their mit skills when asked? As a Caster (BLM at that, so weaving really needs to be planned ahead and I can't just throw it in randomly without losing dmg), I always use my addle and make sure I ask the 2nd caster (if we have 2x caster group) what he is addling so we don't overwrite each other. So if he addles AoEs I'm throwing my addle into TBs etc or the AoEs that he can't addle because cooldown (P5S has some of those for example).
Though I've seen plenty of people who just don't use their mitigation. Had a P6S reclear the other day I did as SGE to have some fun and the SMN never once used addle, nor did the melees use Feint. Life was tough. But when you tell them to use their skills most people do so, at least in my experience. But yeah, if someone tells me they don't want to use their addle / Feint because they don't have the space on their hotbar I'd just leave the party right there lol.

the reasoning is because in previous tiers the damage wasn't this high, mitigation from previous tiers would put you at 20-30% HP, now it puts you at 5-10% HP if not outright kills you.
Yoshi and team are kinda to blame for this, not because the damage is too high, but that they spoonfed us every tier with damage not being that high.
I remember when my static went from savage to ultimate and the damage we took was much higher, this feels like ultimate levels of damage.

For anyone who says addle/feint/etc is only 10% you can't tell, your healer can always tell. If they run through a fight enough they know what they need to spend where and if they need to spend more because someone is too lazy to use their party mit they both know and are silently judging you.

  • @raymondrodgers5832

The tankbuster-DOT combos in this tier do enough damage to kill tanks 2 or 3 times over. Healing is not enough to survive these; the tanks MUST use their tools too. Addle and Feint make mitigation a team effort!
Remember, DOTs are snap-shotted at application against all present mitigation effects. Even if those mitigations run out, the remaining ticks are still mitigated.
P5 Toxic Crunch plus Poison does about 180k total raw damage, and each auto-attack adds another 20k into that.
P6 Synergy plus bleed does about 250k total raw damage.
P7 Condensed/Dispersed Aero plus DOT will cause 230k total raw damage to both tanks, and this boss hits both tanks with 20k auto-attacks. Without mitigation, that's about 10000 (yes, ten-thousand) potency worth of healing over 12 seconds for both tanks.

    • @TarossBlackburn
      @TarossBlackburn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Also people forget that mitigation is not purely the job of healers and tanks.
I main a monk. I have a raidwide buff that boosts healing for everyone who gets it. It is a difference between 1 or 2 spells to top people off and Regen ticks that are applied during the buff remain buffed for the duration of the spell. Shield healers like it if I pop Mantra before pull because if a scholar is looking to get that crit-shield to spread to the party pre-pull, it will be 5% BIGGER if applied under Mantra.
And as mentioned. Feint. It's been changed lately to even still apply a 5% mitigation for magic effects. But it's still full value on physical stuff. Knuckle drums? That's physical as far as I know...
But unfortunately mantra and feint don't parse...

After ARR the Thaumaturge informs you that something's not right with that girl and tasks you with investigating to find she's completely lost her mind and is trying to go full necromancer, queue Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard) and later Palace of the Dead.

As a shield healer, scholar, I'm often the sole mitigation in PF. It sucks more because you're expected to parse green and higher, while mitigating everything, fixing everyone's mistakes while not making mistakes because your death destroys the run, and then if your co-healer sucks then you're the main source of healing. I've gotten all of my clears with PF, and it's rough. I don't even take mind potions for clear runs anymore and just save my potion CD for super-ethers. It's costly to chug down super-ethers too but you need to for progging and clearing. The devs need to punish the dps and tanks more for not mitigating or give the healers the mit tools from the other jobs. Healing is fun this tier, just not in PF where you as the healer is expected to babysit 6-7 people who blame you for their incompetence.

Healer DPS parse is always largely dependent on the other 7 other players. Is your co-healer doing all the heavy lifting for heals or are you doing it. Should always look at the combined dps of the healers for it to make sense.
It also requires you to look at both the healing for both healers for it to make sense as well. a WHM can parse orange sure...but if you go to healing tab they parse 0 in healing. Well of course they could parse orange...they're not even healing. Unfortunately noon ever looks at any other tabs in fflogs other than damage done. Which is stupid and annoying.

as a healer, it is frustrating in PF that others don't use their mitigation. I had a WARRIOR tell me "well my whm friend tells me not to use my stuff and they just put regen on me". When I told them regen is a GCD versus their cooldowns are OGCD I was told "why overwork the tanks if you can just regen". I try to stick with certain people I know that will use their mitigation. It is a common thing I have to say in PF that the sage/sch cannot shield every single mechanic on their own and the party has mitigation as well so use it. PF is thinking that healers are the issues when it is simply everyone solely relying on shield healers to carry the group.

Most DPS see that they have a form of mitigation but will not use it because their dpsing takes priority over trying to help the party. However, I have seen some DPS talk with other dps when they will tactician/troubadour or addle and that makes me happy because that means I won't have to use 3/4 of my mitigations and still have something left for a tank buster and another raidwide. I'd say it's a combination of things but mostly boils down to this tier actually dealing some damage.
Tanks not knowing how to properly mitigate the savage busters (the DoT damage is based on how hard the initial buster hit you) because previous busters hit like wet noodles and so infrequently that you could kitchen sink all busters that you didn't just invuln. This just doesn't work this tier and all tanks who try this type of mitigation planning, something they've gotten used to through entirety of Eden and Asphodelos, will suddenly see their health vanish on every DoT tick and wonder why that is.
You also run into the issue of some tanks' mitigation being worse than others' against the tank busters we currently have. Thrill of Battle is pretty terrible this tier because it does not offer any damage mitigation and results in warrior simply taking more damage from busters.
DPS not using their own mitigation tools because quite frankly, they rarely ever needed to.
And the last one is that healing mechanics for over 2 years boiled down to picking the right 1-2 oGCDs to completely deal with whatever raid damage happened and go back to spamming Broil/Glare/Malefic. Now you suddenly have outgoing damage that needs both a high amount of healing, proper mitigation and is frequent enough that it can drain your resources.
Most players who have joined in Shadowbringers simply don't know how to deal with mechanics actually hitting like a truck and doing so frequently. The game has failed to teach them that for a very long time.

As a WoW refugee, can confirm. I don't blame my healers or anyone for a fuckup I cause and if it's not my fault I ask as calmly as I can after we either 1. Kill the boss or 2. Wipe, if anyone can go back and see what ended up killing us and how we can improve. Have so far had to blacklist 7 entire statics because of this simple question because they think "if you're dying first its your fault we are wiping" and I just go "if you actually.. used mitigation on the boss I wouldn't be dying now would I? I'm 620 ilvl, not 690 like you WoW vets are used to. Use mitigation, I know it's a new concept but Jesus Christ it's not rocket science, I've played healers for years get off your high horse, take credit for your fuck up and move on." Verbatim.

Mitigation tools are definitely something I ignored during my time as a pure dps player but became keenly aware of and made a point to start using once I started playing tank/healer. It’s entirely unnecessary to use in normal content so most dps ignore it and forget that it even exists, and don’t consider that they may need to use it when they decide to tackle harder content.

I'm a sprout still in SB so I won't be at these raids for a while. But I'm in a group right now that is going through coils synced and the advise here is so useful. We really should start saying "mitigation is everyone's job" as often as we say "always be casting". We are reaching turn 9 soon and I'm going to bring this advise to my group and tell everyone to have reprisal, feint, adle, ect. on cooldown. It might not be as necessary as the new raids but anything to make things easier (and to get into the habit of for future content) will be worth it.

I feel half the reason(s) were ignored, the issue with mediocre tank/dps making healer life hell was mentioned, but as a tank main I've seen the other side of the spectrum, shit healers who aren't as able to be carried anymore, p5s reclears have gotten increasingly interesting as the pool of obviously carried healers have been steadily increasing. The fact I had 3 different healers decide to let me die to the bleed/autos in p5s just this week, and then have us wipe to Ruby 5(?), despite all the mitigation they could ask for? It's quite easy to see why there is a lack of healers in later turns compared to earlier tiers, the glarebots just don't get to make it without healing anymore.

I hear you, and honestly as a tank player, I can say that ur points are indeed valid... on the flip side however I think one of the bigger issues this tier is that for the first time in years, outside of ultimate healers have had to actually heal. There have been quite a few times that i have died to auto attacks and bleeds with literally no cooldowns left in p7 & 8 because healers insisted on using nothing but ogcds to heal. Like no, Lilybell + asize is not enough to heal though double bleed + auto attacks in p7s for example. I think that this is right in line with the whole dps fiasco and the community's general understanding ( or lack of understanding) of the game's meta that makes people think that all jobs are first and foremost dps and that theyr doing something wrong if every gcd doesn't do damage.

p7s is absolutely healable with full dps uptime on both healers (on whm lilies also count since they're dps neutral), as long as there is proper mitigation, (though gl with that in PF, especially considering you're going to have 2 random uncoordinated healers)

@@penguinvader7057 I don't doubt that its possible, just that there are healers who think lilybell is and assize are enough to heal a tank that has a bleed and just survived a tank buster with invuln. ive had whms say that they shouldnt have to use bene in that situation because 'if i was in range of lilybell & assize i'd have been fine" while i was literally on top of them with 1 hp for 7 seconds. A lot of these points are true, it’s a team effort. EVERYONE needs to help in mitigation. I think people forget that because ALOT of people come from other games that DON’T care about team play, and don’t realize or maybe don’t care to do more than just deal damage. Situation awareness is also a problem for the same reason, why care when they never had to before in other games.
As much as I hate it as a healer main, I’ve been learning to just not care for people who do basic fuck ups regardless of their role. let’s them die, tell them what went wrong, what they can do to help, then move on. If they don’t get the picture, it’s really not your problem. Blowing loads on blue Dps, greedy reds, and green Dps because they care more about their uptime, their parse, or their big numbers and not about the group is not a PF I care for anymore.

More content needs to take this approach of putting the healers to work.

The healer drought is real, and mostly because of the reasons listed in the video. You can feel when a healer doesn't have enough help, tanks with nearly 0 mitigation, addle missing, feint not being there. I miss having a static in moments like this, not having to wait hour or hour and a half for a healer that is a human and can fuck up but the party is expecting godhood from them.

I was sad to hear when yoshi-p said that this was going to be the direction they would go with moving forward. But if there are two melee in your party most of the time one takes the tank busters and the others take the raidwides. But, for example if your healer looks like they're having a hard time on a mit check and the raidwide seem fine, feel free to ask them if they want you to move feint somewhere else to make it easier for them.

I'd say healing isn't really that amazing this tier either. If both healers are using their ogcd healing or "gain" healing, you don't really need to "heal". Which is the problem I had with healing to begin with, healing only requires very little skill when executed properly. So after all is said and done you're left with your one button spam, and your one DOT. The only time healing is ACTUALLY required is when someone messes up, and that's only because they messed up a mechanic, and even then that's questionable cause that usually just results in their death anyhow. The reason to why there is a healer shortage I'd say is a combination of things, but the most important is the aforementioned and the devs saying that it's fine as is (This is probably why so many healers left after the first aspho). And with the astro changes coming, people fearing the homogenizing again with another healer (the opposite of what people actually want). We don't know what their plan is now, but it doesn't bode well given previous changes to other healers, and how the developers view healers as an entity.

The salt is palpable, and it's actually really turned me off even trying to prog in party finder. Getting screamed at in game because I'm having to babysit HP bars is really rough. I go into that content to enjoy myself and let loose after a long day, not to get berated. *sigh*
I love healing. It's what I've always played in 99% of co-op/MMO games that have it. Right now because all eyes are on the healers for "not doing enough," I just... can't bring myself to "suffer" through the content as my usual WHM or SGE. I'd rather bring a DPS and actually feel like I'm helping somehow.

I take exception that it's only a "blame the healer" or frustration from dps not ever using their cooldowns because that's *not* remotely true. Is in bad groups, but bad groups are rarely the majority for a tier. If raiding stays at this level of group-wide punishment, then what's the incentive to stay in it as a caster? It, often, does not fucking matter one bit that I Addled Spark of Life AND used Aegis or Manaward for it because the healer(s) didn't move as far in as they usually do and I just happened to be one pixel over from the person next to me who was healed but I was not. I am THROUGH being killed by things like p5s's double charge through mitigation with full health and standing in the furthest corner I can get.
I have literally never had to immediately abandon my bis from the past tier instantly for crafted gear just to survive before. This is awful, and being told "well, I'm not healing you because you missed Addle once so it's definitely not my fault" is the fucking worst. That argument is awful. I don't expect flawless mitigation and it shouldn't be required.
When I am where I should be before, during, and after mechanics and I still die because the greenhats left me to twist in the wind for being a pixel off, fatfingering an animation lock, or forgetting one cooldown in the rush of doing mechanics that often have four or five things happening in rapid succession.

SCH Main here. I still PF and have cleared the current tier in PF (week 4) but I will say the most annoying things for me are:
DPS / Tanks that do not apply mitigations properly (obvious one)
But the second one is CO HEALERS (WHM / AST) That have TERRIBLE healing rotations and refuse to top people. If you are playing a WHM or an AST, it is your damn job to top people off, no different then it is mine to make sure shields are on people. But if I have 2/3 shields up and people are dying, I should not have to spam 3/4 GCDs just to make sure people don't die to the next mech. So honestly, Shield Healers specifically are the rarest breed now, and I don't blame them one bit cause if you aren't dying to DPS not mitigating shit, you're dying to the fucken WHM that's alil too obsessed with Glare.
For me, feels like the Pure Healer co healers nowadays are as bad as the DPS. I love partying with SGE on SCH because of this. The Shields will be present and things are mitigated to such an extext that any extra healing needed is easily applied.

I honestly think whm needs a rework because in pf the healer I hated the most cohealing with is whm because they will ALWAYS prioritize glare over everything else, even living. Astro, scholar I don't mind cohealing with but whm makes me cringe internally because that usually means I will need to spend a lot to cover glarebot.
Sage last tier there were a lot of jobber sages for some reason not using all of their ogcds even though it costs nothing to use them so I actually switched to sage because I got tired of it. I've had to tell people very obvious things like holos is a good button and they should hit it. It's same mit as expedience plus a heal and now plus a shield and minus the speed buff but the shield and mit stacks with other shields. Why would you not hit that button is something I wonder a lot when I see pf sages.

I mean when are supports ever a popular role in a game? But I don't really think it's a fight issue, I.E. fights are becoming harder to heal and pf DPS don't mitigate. I think it's more of the fact that they are just continuously dumbing down everything to make things easier and healers are getting it the worst every expansion. Which in turn is just making them more boring to play. Scholar for example; back in HW, you had Bio, miasma, shadowflare, energy drain, bane, broil, cleric stance management, etc, etc.
There was so many things you had outside of just healing, it made the job feel practically like a DPS when in downtime. And imo that's what made it fun. Fast forward to EW, now all you have broil, bio and energy drain. And that's what you're mainly going to be mashing for the majority of the fight during DPS phases. And every other healer follows that same formula, 1 DoT, 1 single target DPS ability. And 1 or 2 conditional DPS abilities that are up like once a minute or something. A lot of the depth to healing is just gone and that's what I believe why healers are becoming more rare every expansion. I use to love playing healers once I got my main job BiS. But now, it's just too boring for my liking.
TLDR: They are making healers too easy and the DPS rotations are too braindead to really get enjoyment from them now.

@@NuclearWaffle0 I'm a Stormblood baby who didn't raid yet during the legendary Almagest, so I don't have as much experience as you, but healers didn't fill this slowly just last tier, nevermind through the entirety of Shadowbringers.
I would, personally, chalk it 100% up to the healing pressure of this tier being new on players. It may have been just as high or higher earlier, but many players from the Shadowbringers boom aren't used to this pressure, healers and dps both. So many old healer players probably join as dps instead. Likely, a lot of those old healer mains are the dps players you see putting in an addle. That's my guess at least.
The dps "rotation" for healers is not any more simple now than it was last tier, or for the entirety of Shadowbringers. So that shouldn't be it.

I was the OT and I tried the old stand in front of them and jumping to signal to stand into the asylum, but that didn't work.

I'm a bit late to the party but I recently took up the Sage role and I genuinely enjoyed playing it, plus instant queuing is wonderful for dailies and grinding. I found out fast why it's so hard to get a healer. In my experience it's the tank pulling too hard and me not being able to heal the massive amounts of damage our party takes from it. Even when I instant raise, use all of my Addersgall, etc. it still isn't enough. Then I get blamed about how "we were so close, thanks healer" when we were literally getting dogpiled, and THEY DO IT AGAIN! It's so overwhelming, discouraging, and rage-inducing.

AST main here. The main reason I stopped healing was solely due to my main healer not being fun this expansion or the previous one.
WHM is low key boring and those AST cards feel horrible, the opener barley gives you time to heal or move your so busy. What is the point of light speed being 90 secs I have to save it for Divination anyway. I used to be about to throw out an aoe divination now it’s a button and scrolling though the party list 1 by 1 as a console player to throw 1 card on someone. Sis please I was coping last expansion, but as a HW player (even though the balance was off then) the gameplay felt better to me. Yes more punishing but more skill expression than click everything everything everyone 2mins there where actual team comps and thought processes behind why your taking a job.
That coupled with the homogenisation of the game makes healing a little boring for me. Unfortunately I enjoy 1 healer only whilst I can play the others if my main is horrible to play it’s time to playing Yo-Gi-Oh! and wait till 7.0 or dps 😂

Sadly knowing the calibre of a lot of players they'll won't do the training, won't understand the lessons being taught or they'll have the attitude 'I'll play how I want, they don't pay my sub' and ignore it anyway

My wife was a healer main since Stormblood when we started playing. Halfway through Endwalker p3s prog she dropped healing and swapped to maining Reaper. She hates healing now due to the fact that in a lot of pfs and even in roullettes she finds a lot of healers simply arent healing. She was getting so stressed out because she couldnt solo heal. In shadowbringers it was just white mages acting as glaremages, but for some reason in endwalker healers have been pretty awful im general.

Are you sure she's not just unnecessarily trying to do all the healing? I also healed last tier pugging and never felt a lack of healing except for maybe the p3s add phase. I did notice a lot of casual healers felt the need to always keep people topped up and IMMEDIATELY heal to full after raidwides even if it cost them GCDs or they could have been topped up over time before the next damage event. I notice this the most with gray/green parsing healers. I could have a HoT up or I'm 5 seconds away from pumping out an ogcd AOE heal, and the other healer would take it upon themselves to waste their GCDs/resources to try and solo heal everyone to full when the next mechanic comes in like 60 seconds.

One thing, as a DPS, I find odd is when I see other dps not using feint/addle/tactician/etc. when doing content. Even in dungeons I'll see this not occur, which is odd since it is something you can do to help both your tank and healer mitigate damage. Them taking less dmg means they can add their dps more to the fight. I always look at a fight and try to figure out when are good times to pop troubadour, which tank will need my nature's minne to help with bleeds. Could it cost me some dps? Sure but if we die then that little dps doesn't matter since we wiped to something that could potentially not be a wipe if mitigation is helped through my own contribution.

I haven't cleared any of the abyssos savages yet but after practicing most of P5S i realised how much damage the dot does from TB. To counter this I always use TBN right before TB proc with dark mind and shadow wall. TBN soaks the initial hit, shadow wall and dark mind reduce 30% all dmg and 10% magic to slow the bleed. Past that if Im enmity target I rotate mits as they fall off and, as mentioned in video, use reprisal and dark missionary when aoe drops. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for second tank in any of my runs. They only pop mits when they are gonna get killed and otherwise ignore aoe mit or enemy dmg mit.

As a range physical, I use mine mitigation on heavy hitting raidwides every tier, but I can tell it is the worst this tier. And I also know the root issue of balance, healer shortages and range tax is the parse with the dps thirsty after all

    • @DarkDyllon
      @DarkDyllon 2 ปีที่แล้ว

the issue is (which isn't bad, it's sorta Yoshi and teams fault it got this far)
is that damage was never this high outside the 4th turn or ultimates, damage now concistently puts people at 5-10% of their HP with regular mitigation, it's because as Cole said, since A8S we didn't have damage being this high on the receiving end.
every other sure will hurt, but keeps you alive at 20-30% HP, now it kicks you down to 5-10% which is fine, but it means that people need to get better at mitigating, most raidwides can have atleast an reprisal and either feint or addle on (depending on which role has 2)
then for the heavy hitters you got the physical ranged with their only mitigation.
This is also 1 of the 1st tiers where Tank invulns are next to useless with the exception of Hallowed Ground and Superbolide, since they stop even the DoT damage, time it right and you'll have atleast 2-3 DoT ticks being invulned aswell, meanwhile DRK and WAR's invuln are next to useless, sure you survive the initial hit, but then the DoT still ticks down your HP.
honestly the 1st tier where Holmgang isn't the best invuln.

To all my healing brothers and sister and inbetween, it's not your job to do everything, yes to keep them alive but don't stress that that dps exploded cuz they avoided that heal, bubble, miti aoe, or their own miti. If the tank died to Tank buster and you put your miti on them, not your fault. Everyone in this game needs to learn everything their class can do and contribute. Even if it's normal content it's true that it costs them nothing to give even a little. Be brave my fellow healers and those of us who are healing this tier, let's keep up the fun!

  • @Kitkat5335
    @Kitkat5335 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Not a healer main, but I do use Tank and Healer more frequently than any other job, and I will agree that I would rather not heal something simply because others aren't using certain abilities which makes the job extremely annoying. I even have this complaint in daily content when you know there is a set rotation in abilities, but no one but maybe the tank and occasionally (very occasionally) someone might use Feint or Addle, or even put up extra shielding as a ranged.
They seemed to always be in 'but I'm a DPS, I ain't got time for that!' Well, you see that guy over there...they died cause you expected the healer to do it all. Stuff is hitting harder/for more HP and it is very important that abilities are used to help lower/mitigate it from any sources available. Can always tell when I'm in a group where a tank knows how to use their kit, and doesn't. Can always see the difference in ease of healing when others know how and when to use damage lowering/shielding techniques and don't.
As a tank I like helping my healer out by cycling my kit as needed, using shake it off for the harder hitting AOE, and tossing out Reprisal like it is a delicious candy the boss keeps hitting me for. As a healer, I like seeing a tank do this too cause it makes it so much easier to keep them up on bigger pulls, and contribute to taking out the pack faster too.
As for the reason I don't jump in Party finder....you hit a lot of the points. When things are hitting like mack trucks to the point it diminishes HP frequently, not seeing that little bit of help from other jobs makes the point of keeping others up far more taxing than it should. I have literally sighed about ending up in certain daily content just cause I know how much healing/shielding it is going to need out of me and that someone that could have lived will probably die cause that one DPS over there might not even have Feint/addle on their bar somewhere, let alone use it.

    • @Kitkat5335
      @Kitkat5335 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Want to add that this isn't just DPS either. I have seen both tanks and healers who can't use their kit too. That or they get stuck in Raid only mode or dungeon only mode. This means they avoid using part of their kit cause it hasn't been part of their normal rotation for a bit.
I know as healer I use most, if not all of my kit depending on job/content (IE Holy had more utility in dungeon content than it does in raid content and similar) and same as when I'm tank (IE Shirk, Nascent Flash vs Blood Wetting, TBN/Obilation on myself vs others aside from clutch moments in dungeon vs raid expectation, etc.)
However I have seen a lot of content lately where Tanks forget they have mitigation cool downs, restoratives (some more than others), and then there are healers that forget to use abilities that have strong synergy with one another, or help in crowd control situations be it add effects or damage contribution.
Then again, this was more Party Finder content, which usually means raid specific content, and thus I didn't want to delve off topic very much. I just want to clarify that I have seen both spectrum and how others being too lazy, lacking in knowledge, or simply stuck in 'my dps go brrr' mode affects the whole group. Sadly, SE makes a lot of their content to expect people to work well with their kits to help the whole group....just not many get that with raid content. This is why healers have been more reluctant to go with unknowns over those they know can play.....it is the difference between enjoying the content and being miserable.

I think the issue is that tanking was so easy on the first tier that a lot of tanks really got complacent in their mitigation kit. With invuls and some basic mitigation you could easily tank the whole past tier. As a WAR you could easily just use Bloodweeting and survive most tankbusters and then maybe just using Euilibrium when it might be tight.
This tier not even they made invuls mostly useless for tankbusters they clearly want Tanks to use their full mitigation toolkit and they didn't get the memo. Is something you can see it how long are some of the Tankbuster casts (They feel longer to me at least), so you have enough time to pop whatever you have up in that moment. As a DRK I ALWAYS at least go with Rampart or Shadow Wall + TBN + Oblation + Dark Mind (if effective). Specially with Dark Mind you can solo tank the shared buster.
You can even space out the TBN and have another TBN up for the last seconds of the DOT. So clearly is an issue in how many Tanks can't wrap their head about using mitigations because they never had to use it.
Also this is totally anecdotal and my own theory, but I believe there are a lot more tanks now availlable on PUG parties, because a think a lot of people thought: "If I go tank I will find more parties easily! And Tank rotations are so easy!" and now they find that tanking is not that easy or they don't have a clue.

Reprisal. Feint. Addle. The 3 phys ranged mits.
Reprisal can be used on EVERY SINGLE raidwide with it's cooldown, sometimes even TBs too. Throw in the DPS mitigations and you have at least TWENTY 10% mits that can be used throughout the fight. That doesn't even count the healer mit or personal mits.
In Party Finder..... I will maybe get 2 or 3 reprisals through the fight, and maybe see 1 Addle or Feint near the beginning if I'm lucky.

My static had like 3 people who just did not do what they needed to do and kept getting clipped and dying all. the. time. Even after we'd cleared the fight ten times. Even with call outs. Even after seeing the mechanic over and over.
For example, my static's warrior in P2S would frequently not use bloodwhetting during tankbusters and constantly (and I mean literally almost every run) get knocked into the doodoo water.
In P1S, our samurai would frequently not get into his intemp clock in time and cause a wipe.
Our RDM would consistently drift embolden because they'd just forget to pop it on cool down.
Not gonna lie, it really burnt me out so, so fast. We took so so so long to clear these fights, it was absurd. We didn't even get to clear P3S because it took so long. My static is casual, but there is a minimum requirement that you need to reach to participate in savage content without making it a sufferfest for everybody else, and as healers, we experience the brunt of everyone's mistakes.
I had to take a break because I can't handle crap like this all the time. I was dreading raid nights because it sucks ass to have to bend over backwards fixing everyone's mistakes. I almost wanted to skip this tier altogether or just straight up not heal anymore because it sucks so much.

As for your topic, I’ve been on red mage recently just bc I geared my casters slightly better than my healers and I’ve been flinging magick barrier and addle so fucking much bc this boss hurts EVEN in the normal version!
And I do actually enjoy this! Like yeah I might get slapped and insta killed but when I’m healing I have a reason to DO things! Same with tanks, it always felt like full mitigation was a little much when tbn or heart of stone could handle just about anything so I was going overkill making the most of my kits.
Healer shortage is just bad players to blame. They have a skill that lowers incoming damage and never use it bc it’s not an animation they like. Feint and addle isn’t even hard to use! It’s a one click take less damage for the entire party!

I'm late to the party, I just started Storm's Crown EX, and Barb's babyrage made me realize 2 things: 1, not all healers are using their CDs where it matters, and 2, PLDs have a gimongous party support kit, but playing as a healer I've never seen this done before. Popping cover to a person that's low on health during that babyrage will save a swiftcast and 3200 MP. Sometimes I even spot heal to them. Maybe it's just my healer's habit to keep seeing party's HP bar rather than my own rotation, idk.
But seeing you talk like this, it made me contemplate whether I should just play healer again, since I'm only 2 weeks in lol

I like samba, but it feels good if I can get a good curing waltz or even a flash of improv off for what mitigation/heal top off since that's a little less they have to worry about. Still depends how much the boss lets me get away with, but if nothing else I try to find the right spots/raid wides for at least the sambas since I want to live and the more everyone else lives, the better the overall DPS.
