Really good video, I would think as a Bombers supporter that Harry Armstrong would be a bigger need if we traded back into pick 13. Smillie is definitely a really good pick, but they have guys like Perkins, Durham, Martin & maybe even Caddy as a hybrid big bodied mid.
Great video Dylan. A few suprises in there which was enjoyable to see. I really do think that north and Richmond trade will end up being true. I really hope we get Tauru at 6. But if Melbourne do take him. We can possibly select Langford / Lindsay/ Travaglia. Then get our key position player with 17. Or get Armstrong as a bit of a reach. With how deep this draft is we are going to have a variety quality players to pick from at 17.
If Tigers and North dont swap pick 2 (not including other pick swaps or father & son, academy picks) 1. Sam Lalor (Richmond) 2. A. Tauru (North) (Norths target but may also go with next best midfield after pick 1) 3. FoS (Carlton) 4. S. Draper (Adelaide) 5. H. Langford (Melbourne) 6. J. Smith (Richmond) 7. M. Reid (Saints) 8. J. Smillie (Saints) 9. H. Armstrong (Melbourne) 10. T. Travaglia (Richmond) 11. O. Hannaford, J. Faull or J. Shanahan ... (1 of 3 - Richmond will target a key forward here - if H. Armstrong already taken) This really is a deep super draft. I think you have 6x A+ midfielders, another 8x A, A- midfielders. If i was Richmond, i'd offer 6+20 for Pick 2 .. if North don't want that, Richmond should just keep their picks. They will get another A+ midfielder (likely J. Smith). Can still find plenty of talent in this draft in the top 25 picks. Richmond could and should keep 18 - North still get 20 which will still give them access to a player that still has elite attributes. Tigers could trade swap a F1 for next year for their late picks. Tigers should also keep pick 24 (the first pick on 2nd day i think is too important to trade away). I don't think their is any clear standout this year unlike the last 2 years. However, i think their is more elite talent and the difference between the group of 6 of A+ midfielders is only on style. This years top picks will most likely all be future champions of the game. Has not been another draft like this since 2001. Looking at Tigers draft the last few years, they haven't had any high picks since 2016 given their Dynasty period and trading away their recent high picks for Taranto and Hopper has set back their rebuild. 2024 and 2025 are likely to be the last 2 years before Tasmania enter the field and take many of the top picks for several years. This year and the next - is the time to rebuild, after that it will be difficult to access top talent not affected by the coming changes. Trade only for F1 picks for 2025.
Love this...and would be very happy with Draper at Carlton. Just haven't see anything much from O'Sullivan that screams Top 3 to me. He is fast in traffic and hitting the pack, but his kicking decision-making leaves a LOT to be desired. Hope I am wrong and he finds his feet at AFL level, but I'd take Draper over him ANY day of the week. Similar by foot, but so much more power, speed and agility.
Yeah there’s a lot that like Draper more, I like the extra bit of versatility with FOS, plays like a 190cm guy but way smaller! I’d agree Draper has a bit more of a burst but I think FOS lateral stuff is amazing.
Excellent video. I’m a Richmond fan and if Smillie falls to 13 I’m taking him, despite already having Lalor. Then I hear Armstrong is the best key forward in this draft so we probably take him at 14
Tauru has a bit of Nick Riewoldt factor going on & will draw fans too! When you're looking for a hand to fit your glove, don't shove your foot in it. Tauru seems a damn good fit for the Roos. Draft 2 is not a price or cost, it's an opportunity to get what is needed, not what is not needed, despite player ratings.
I was genuinely shocked to hear you are a fellow north fan after seeing the tiges pick trade scenario in other videos and this one, if we trade 2 and future first for 6 and 10, surely ask for a something back , a second or 3rd rounder at least
@@kingdarcy28 hey! Yeah definitely a north fan! I didn’t actually condone the future first trade, just said it sounds worse than what it really is. I think if Richmond are keen enough for FOS they’ll do 6 and 18 or 6 and 20 which is solid for North given the quality of forwards around that mark.
@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft understand that, don't you think if next year's draft is a compromised bunch then the earlier the pick the better? To get in before bids etc, not to mention the top end of what could be a draft that falls off quickly
So going through the FS & Academy bids and matching for points Collingwood will have it's first pick lowered by at least 8 picks from 52 to 44. Is that right? This is also going to be effected by where Marshall falls, and also if Camporeale gets picked earlier. Interesting times, can't wait for draft day.
Hey Dylan love your work mate, can’t say as a bombers fan I’d be happy over paying for that pick though, two first rounders next year is not worth it, rather keep them.
Slightly off topic but I think bombers should be trading out pick 28 & 31 for future 2nd round picks before a Kako bid comes in, use later picks (40, 46 53, 54, 65) to match the bid. Then perhaps consider trading back into draft this year at some point late first / 2nd round… with those 2nd round picks just depends how much you have to over pay to get back in. The “tax” of getting back in this year seems high.
Yeah, the Smillie pick has a level of speculation obviously, he needs to be there firstly…I think it’s something they’d strongly consider if he is though!
I think Tigers would prefer Smillie at 10 than trade it. Mid of speed and explosiveness with Lalor, Speed and Marking capability FOS and a better ball getter Smillie than Hopper and Taranto inside but snail pace would be good. Then Harry Armstrong, Jobe Shan or Luke Trainor at their next pick. I understand 3 mids that would also come out of contract same time is not ideal but Tigers need top end talent.
@ If Smillie had Jagga killer mentality/intensity, he would be a beast but usually you have that trait or you don’t. He just needs more nastiness in his game and use his size and strength to his advantage. Smillie can find the footy and has good foot skills. They all have great foot skills compared to hopper, Taranto and Prestia
Pick 6 becomes pick 2 and pick 11 becomes a top 5 pick next year thats a pretty good move if you ask me and you guarantee you get the 2 mids you want this year
I don’t think Essendon would trade their future first round pick, nothing this trade period suggests they will be better than they are this year and are looking to push youth into the side. The Melbourne future 1 is definitely up for grabs though, I think if tobie Trav or smilie are around and Essendon can get back in I think it could happen. Nice video though mate
If saints keep picks 7 and 8, who would've you picked? As a saints supporter I think two needs are a ball winning big bodied mid and another mid who can spread and burst from the middle.
@@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft We just de-listed Taj's brother Olli though, and there were rumours coming out in recent months that their parents were quite angry with the club when they were told Olli was very likely getting de-listed. So I doubt that we just go and take his brother, that'd put the club in a very weird position with the family
Can't see saints trading out 7 or 8. More likely to trade future first for 15 or 16 maybe throw in a pick 32 for 21. Saints trading F1 and 32 for 16 and 21. Leaving them with 7,8,16,21
Word is GWS actually turned down 3 for 15+16 with west coast before Carlton got themselves in the picture(mentioned by Ryan Daniels). Unless something has changed massovely for them i cant see them doing 7 for those 2 same picks.
1) Where is the proof of these draft pick trade offers between Richmond and North? 2) Do you seriously believe that if North keep pick 2, they will overlook the 2nd best choice in the draft and become the first club to ever take a kid that didn't even make the All Australian side simply because he's a specific player type?
Richmond should take Alix Tauru with pick one and don’t trade 6,10,11, that would absolutely turn the draft on its head, they would still get quality with 6,10,11
If this plays out this could be a disaster for the eagles. Lindsay and Allen both gone and would be 2 of their top choices. Would have to hope Travaglia stays on the board.
@@LindsayBoysSport depends on the deal - these are the two floated: North trade 2 and F2 to Adelaide North receive 4 and F1 Second option: North give 2 and F1 Richmond give 6 and 10
Langford makes sense for Melbourne considering that they might soon lose Oliver and Trac. Also for North no one is talking about a replacement for LDU who will surely want to chase a flag and Wardlaw is not looking likely to stay healthy throughout his career
I suspect Carlton might be a bit paranoid about the go home factor for Draper, I think he is a shoe in for the Crows, unless the Crows end up with Nth Melbourne pick 2 which changes everything.
I love all your analysis but I just can’t see the Bombers giving up that much for another midfielder, no matter how big he his. Not when they have more much more pressing needs in other areas. I’d rather they look at someone like Travaglia or Armstrong at that mark tbh
Just for your information- “Draper is not testing at this weekend's draft combine in Melbourne, with the midfielder managing a back issue called chronic pars defect, which is a stress fracture of bones in the lower spine. “I've had it for years and it's become symptomatic now,” Draper said.5 Oct 2024”
@@user-rj2by8kf1t yeah good question! I mean they have two 1st rounders to play with from 2025. I think they’ll definitely be looking to opt back in to this draft that is mid heavy and less compromised. Teams I could see them dealing with are Richmond, maybe a club like Western bulldogs or Sydney that don’t have a desperate need to draft.
I think Richmond take O'Sullivan and Smith will be pick 2 because they're considered more ready-made players for AFL low risk prospects and Draper will go to Carlton because he fits their needs and Adelaide will take Lalor because he's type player we're missing I'd also be happy got O'Sullivan.
@@RobKieranz I wouldn’t rule anything out, especially if they rate a specific player highly. Hasn’t necessarily been an attraction for Geelong recently though. As a crows fan I'd be a bit disappointed if we can't get draper, I'd also probably take Smilie in that situation, but i don't mind the Jagga pick, I know other crows fans will get the pitch forks, but all those top mids are elite, we'll find a way to make it work, hopefully he'd kick laird and crouch out for good.

If Tigers and North dont swap pick 2 (not including other pick swaps or father & son, academy picks)
1. Sam Lalor (Richmond)
2. A. Tauru (North) (Norths target but may also go with next best midfield after pick 1)
3. FoS (Carlton)
4. S. Draper (Adelaide)
5. H. Langford (Melbourne)
6. J. Smith (Richmond)
7. M. Reid (Saints)
8. J. Smillie (Saints)
9. H. Armstrong (Melbourne)
10. T. Travaglia (Richmond)
11. O. Hannaford, J. Faull or J. Shanahan ... (1 of 3 - Richmond will target a key forward here - if H. Armstrong already taken)
This really is a deep super draft.
Your top 10 is almost identical to mine:
1. Lalor (Richmond)
2. Tauru (North)
3. FOS (Carlton)
4. Draper (Adelaide)
5. Smith (Melbourne)
6. Langford (Richmond)
7. Smilie (Saints)
8. Reid (Saints)
9. Armstrong (Melbourne)
10. Travalia (Richmond)
Awesome Dylan. Go Bombers!
Love it, great vid!!
Think the north pick situation is super interesting. If they slide back and Melbourne take their man they'll be filthy
@@marnusmyboi8059 would kill me 😂
Love this...and would be very happy with Draper at Carlton.
I think Draper is the best of the lot
nice mock draft .The music for the flying viking was very fitting
@@zacrasheed4522 glad you noticed 😂
Excellent video. I’m a Richmond fan and if Smillie falls to 13 I’m taking him, despite already having Lalor. Then I hear Armstrong is the best key forward in this draft so we probably take him at 14
As a North Supporter. Pick2 for Alex TauRooooooo!!!!
It's too much
Tauru has a bit of Nick Riewoldt factor going on & will draw fans too!
When you're looking for a hand to fit your glove, don't shove your foot in it. Tauru seems a damn good fit for the Roos. Draft 2 is not a price or cost, it's an opportunity to get what is needed, not what is not needed, despite player ratings.
Dylan I know there's wraps on Lalor but really all I've seen is a mark in the goal square and a tackle . Is he really that good ?
St Kilda Pick 7 , Josh Smillie , Pick 8 , Bo Allan
@@stephenjago4234 yep! That’s still the most likely
What about Murphy Reid?
As an Essendon fan wow, when I saw that we might be trading back in thought maybe shanahan Lindsay or Berry. Smilie would be incredible.
In fairness, it’s a pretty speculative play, but if he’s available, I don’t see why they wouldn’t do it!
Travaglia still on the board with one selection to go. Don't you be messing with me. Richmond better take Armstrong/Shanahan.
Good video mate 👍. As a suffering Essendon supporter you make an interesting case.
Yeah, the Smillie pick has a level of speculation obviously, he needs to be there firstly…I think it’s something they’d strongly consider if he is though!
Albeit an impossible one!
@@trevorirwin6673 Yeah most likely.
I doubt Smilie gets passed the saints two picks
I think Tigers would prefer Smillie at 10 than trade it. Mid of speed and explosiveness with Lalor, Speed and Marking capability FOS and a better ball getter Smillie than Hopper and Taranto inside but snail pace would be good. Then Harry Armstrong, Jobe Shan or Luke Trainor at their next pick. I understand 3 mids that would also come out of contract same time is not ideal but Tigers need top end talent.
My prediction is that Smillie will be a big disappointment for someone, and, respectfully, better than Taranto and Hopper ?!
Bo Allen at 10 would be a great pick for Tigers
As a bombers fan I'd like to lock this in please
If Draper and FOS both available for Blues at pick 3/4, who do you think they'd take? I know you prefer FOS, but who do you think they'd take?
I think they’d take FOS, suits them perfectly 👌🏼
@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft same. Unfortunately, I think he's gone by pick 3
Just boggles the mind why Richmond would bother chasing pick 2 to get one of Lalor/FOS. The gain is so minimal. Would be hugely wasteful.
Absolutely agree with you!
If I was saints Allan and Hotton
Don’t see GWS using all 6 of their picks, they will either trade up or trade out.
@@user-rj2by8kf1t I agree, but the 7 for 15+16 seems like big overs for GWS. 15+21 for 7 maybe?
Yeah that’s a fair call! I do think they’ll try to trade up though and take a Lindsay/Travaglia
@@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft Yeah for sure, it makes sense to me for them to want to do that.
Great replacements for Perryman/Cumming
1) Where is the proof of these draft pick trade offers between Richmond and North? 2) Do you seriously believe that if North keep pick 2, they will overlook the 2nd best choice in the draft and become the first club to ever take a kid that didn't even make the All Australian side simply because he's a specific player type?
Sorry to say but your top10 mock draft is a fair way off
You'll see on the 20th
Mate, when I actually got to StKs pick I nearly spewed up. We turned pick 7&8 into Bo Allen and a couple of late first rounders - yeah nah…
Yeah
Who will hawks get with pick 33,71,77 have you any suggestions .
Richmond should take Alix Tauru with pick one and don’t trade 6,10,11, that would absolutely turn the draft on its head, they would still get quality with 6,10,11
😂 that would be quite funny actually! Richmond have threatened to pick Tauru at 6 so north can’t strike a deal with the saints!
That’s the best comment on this post by a mile. 😂😂😂 Love it!! Great choice for number 1.
If this plays out this could be a disaster for the eagles. Lindsay and Allen both gone and would be 2 of their top choices. Would have to hope Travaglia stays on the board.
Stay tuned for Mock part 2 on Thursday!
Bombers fan here i was hoping for smiley but I'm thinking its going to be out of our reach
Great work. I hope North don't give away F1 for cheap but they do need need to split 2. F2 would be in the early 20s yeah? Would that do it?
@@LindsayBoysSport depends on the deal - these are the two floated:
North trade 2 and F2 to Adelaide
North receive 4 and F1
Second option:
North give 2 and F1
Richmond give 6 and 10
@@DylanAlexanderFollowsDraft I think the Adelaide deal benefits North more.
@@LindsayBoysSport agreed
Given what Gold Coast and West Coast just threw away, it wouldn't surprise me at all if North did the pick 2 and f1 deal.
Concerns over Draper’s chronic back injury. Hearing he will slide. Also don’t see the tigers getting pick 2 as North won’t get Tauru at 6.
@@tmc3980 first I’ve heard of a chronic back, can’t see that keeping him down
Thought it was just a back injury? When did it become chronic?
Langford makes sense for Melbourne considering that they might soon lose Oliver and Trac.
Also for North no one is talking about a replacement for LDU who will surely want to chase a flag and Wardlaw is not looking likely to stay healthy throughout his career
Guys got no idea Sid Draper already at the blues
So glad that WC split pick 3!
@@BigCatinBKK 😂
As a crows fan i prayer for us getting Sid Drapr.
As a fellow crows fan, if Carlton take Sid Draper I would be more than happy to then pick up Jagga Smith.
Crows will not take jagga smith. It will be Langford or Sid if Carlton don’t take him.
I love your vids
@@CadelDaglish thank you 🙏
have heard or read anything about drapers chronic back issue
Just for your information- “Draper is not testing at this weekend's draft combine in Melbourne, with the midfielder managing a back issue called chronic pars defect, which is a stress fracture of bones in the lower spine. “I've had it for years and it's become symptomatic now,” Draper said.5 Oct 2024”
With the number of list spots the Eagles have where do you see them trying to get an extra pick in the draft?
@@user-rj2by8kf1t yeah good question! I mean they have two 1st rounders to play with from 2025. I think they’ll definitely be looking to opt back in to this draft that is mid heavy and less compromised. Teams I could see them dealing with are Richmond, maybe a club like Western bulldogs or Sydney that don’t have a desperate need to draft.
If they pick up a Cooper Hynes at the back end of the first round might be a good outcome, along with TT with their first pick 👀
Pretty much been leaked that we are taking Lalor at one now.
Can you see Geelong trying to get a better pick than 45 by somehow involving futures?
@@RobKieranz I wouldn’t rule anything out, especially if they rate a specific player highly. Hasn’t necessarily been an attraction for Geelong recently though. Even when they have had high picks, they’ll take someone locally. I imagine Xavier Ivisic is someone they’ll want but he sits around the 40 mark anyway.
Surely if smilie and Allen are still on the board at we taken them at 7 & 8
@@flynnsiassios2788 yeah for sure that’s a big chance! It’s a trade hypothetical so not set in stone but it would be a way of saints bringing more players through the door.
I don’t see Essendon doing that for Smilie I’d rather they did it for Armstrong!
No way the blues take Draper over Jagga. As Smith develops over the years it allows Cripps to play more forward and extend his career 😉
this will sound really autistic, but now I've finished my exams for the semester I'm going to make a flow chart of all possible first round situations, particularly that top 10 or so.
another great video by the way, good research and details on what the clubs want and the types of players they are after.
I like comparing players to previous drafts as well, helps me think of how strong the draft is.
If StK did have up draft capital to get 5 picks higher - I’ll eat my hat!!!
I was about to turn off when you said the the Bombers wouldnt match 😂😂
@@andyc8375 haha fair I had to do it once though 😂
Dylan, is Bo Allen too big of a reach for the Crows if Draper is off the board.
@@skipwoosnam3409 good question, I rate him extremely high so I wouldn’t see it as such a reach. He is still a little raw so there’s some risk in his development! Such an athlete though, I wouldn’t be sad if I was a crows fan and they picked him at 4
With Lindsay he’s a great prospect but isn’t he a bit too similar to Callaghan for gws?
Lost your marbles here Dyl, tiges will not be trading pick 10 or 11
Think they would for 2 first rounders!
We need goals and right now we haven’t got anyone other than Lynch
Brother Richmond needs jeesus to save them
@ no such this as jeesus lol don’t believe in that , that’s wat everyone said about us in 2016 and look wat happened after that we won’t make the finals next season but 2016 we’ll be very close 2-3 experienced players can change everything

Not gonna lie I think the crows go for anyone who’s next best that’s not from Vic Metro.
Roos need to get their man and be done with it! They want Tauru, they need Tauru. Have the goolies to hold firm at 2 & not try and play Poker (as they are the world's worst players, being so smart, they lose what they should win). They won't get Tauru by splitting 2, so that's just dumb & greedy ... & unfortunately so true to form 😓. Just do it right for once!
North should keep pic 2.i rate O'Sullivan the best in the draft so id take him.
You haven’t rated Lashcroft in the top 5 all season but having bid at 3 now what changed your opinion
It's about making Brisbane pay up, not about how highly any of us rate him. That said, I'd assume that plenty of recruiters rate him highly
