A Gelli Plate is used to create mono prints with paints and stencils. Keep an eye out for a future video using it to make colorful backgrounds for cards and journal pages.

Thank you for this video ... haven't used my Gelli Plate yet (plan to in the next couple days) and I had just been wondering about Gelli Plate cleaning. Again, thank you!

Thanks for the video. Quick question- does the baby oil also condition the plate?

Do you clean a dirty Gelli Plate the same way? It appeared that you were cleaning an already clean one.

So disappointed in my Gelli Plate. After only a month. I have huge air bubble indentations in it from the plastic sheets. Even though I press the air out there always seems to be some that you can see on the plate and it has left horrible marks. Some videos I have seen do not recommend using the plastic sheets inside the clamshell when storing. What did I do wrong?

The Gelli plate company says to store your plate between sheets of copy paper. No bubbles! Hope that helps.

@@cynthiatalbott-nelson7530 Thank you but-I have stored them in between copy paper. I figured that out almost 2 years ago and the copy paper dried them out so badly. I have tried to condition them with mineral oil numerous times and they are still very dry now. No bubbles but very dry.

I have heard you are not supposed to put the plastic sheets back on the Gelli plate to store it, that they should be removed and discarded after you first open it up. I store my plates with a piece of heavy paper on each side of the plate, then put it back in the clamshell. They are perfect the next time I use them.

I love my gelli plates (I have 3) and I never clean them - the most interesting prints are lifted from paint dried on the plate. And, I would never have hand sanitizer in my home and certainly never use it on my skin - it contains extremely dangerous chemicals.
