"Danger Man"/"Secret Agent" was a perfect "springboard" to launch "The Prisoner."
In a way, Patrick McGoohan was a "visionary" in that he saw the battle looming between "individuality" and "the State" that despised the individual, seeking to CONTROL EVERYONE.

"John Drake of 'Secret Agent' ('Danger Man') is gone, but we're not foolish enough to try to change the image we have established with TV audiences" Patrick McGoohan July 1966.

Thanks for sharing this ! I was 11 or 12 when The Prisoner debuted...but I was following my heart...I had a huge crush on Patrick McGoohan! I was soon fascinated by The Village and of course The Prisoner! I wish one of the television networks would have a tribute showing of The Prisoner for it's 50th Anniversary in 2017. Hats off to the cast and crew ...and especially to Patrick McGoohan...without whose drive...imagination and determination..we wouldn't have such a thought provoking show as the Prisoner ! Patrick McGoohan could have been another Sean Connery or Steve McQueen...but his choices in how he would act in his roles probably affected his ultimate role offers. He guarded his privacy...and let his work represent him. What a legacy! Be seeing you, sir !

Lots of of "inside baseball..." perhaps I should say "inside cricket..."
But for a geek like me who loves this stuff, this is solid gold.
(John Drake was The Prisoner? How was such a secret ever kept?)

Real Portmerion locations gave "The Prisoner" the highest production value 👌 of all the British Secret Agent series. Saved a fortune ✨️ and gave us style 😎

I have to disagree with Rose Tobias Shaw. yes she's right that McGoohan has enormous screen presence and is captivating in Danger Man but to say the scripts were terrible is nonsense. I've just recently watched Danger Man for the first time and I was immensely impressed by the quality of the scripts, many of which till resonate today. It's hit rate is very high.

I think that the video is aimed at an international audience. That considered, perhaps Patrick McGoohan was a 'Relatively unknown actor' internationally at the time. Personally I thought he was awesome as an actor.

Shame the narrator for one is so ignorant. Patrick McGoohan a relatively unknown actor? What utter twaddle. The guy was a British movie-star and very well-respected. It was even commented in movie magazines in 1959 that it was surprising such a man was going to do a mere TV show.

Patrick McGoohan was born to play John Drake. Oh yes, The Prisoner was John Drake.

Was there an episode with Nigel Stock where the Prisoners mind was transferred into another person. In that episode, his ex girlfriend recognizes him after a kiss and calls him "Carl" and not "John". This always confused me as I had assumed the Prisoner was indeed John Drake.
