Nicely done! I'm sorry I didn't subscribe to SciFi at the time this special was on the air. I would have recorded it myself! Particularly liked the Stephen Fry interview! Playing Number 2 must have been a childhood dream of his for years! If so, I'm glad he was able to live it albeit on a comedy special that probably wasn't aired in the States. Maybe there's a DVD somewhere...?
    Thanks for posting this!

I never watched the remake, and I never will. Nor will I with any similar type of production. This wave of remakes, reimaginings, and prequels is in effect lowering peoples expectations and making them comfortable with the concept of mediocre repetition. I doubt the powers that be got together and conspired to make this happen, but they have certainly noticed it happening and will exploit it. We need to demand new art now because it will be too late by the time we're watching Iron Man 32.

the original rover malfunctioned, so they used a weather balloon after seeing them floating around in the area at the time of recording.

A sympathetic retro remake *is* possible. _Subtle_ use of CGI would have Rover as a much more scary and surreal predator. It would ingest the victim and spew out human remnants (clothes, coins, jewellery etc). Rover would "feed" on the victim and grow larger.... It could sprout tentacle appendages, like a squid. Such an autonomous entity - powerful and indestructible - could form the mainstay of the village's sinister threat.

05:28 No.1 does appear and always as since the beginning. The answer was there all along in the opening credits "Who is No.1? ... You are No.6"

Excelsior Entertainment: You raise a interesting point, but the way number 2 phrases that reply back to number 6, the emphasis is that number 6 is just that, number 6--it does not come across to me whoever is the new number 2 that he is hinting number 6 is number 1....

What do you mean, Number 1 is never revealed?? He most certainly is, in the last episode!! and, they allude to it in almost every one of the other 16!! In the opening conversation of nearly every episode, he asks, "Who is Number 1?" The answer comes back, "You are Number 6.". Now, if you just add one tiny llittle comma in just the right place, it becomes, "You are, Number 6.".

I saw the first of the new version an that was as far as I got! It made no sense and wasn't EVEN THE Prisoner!! It was more like, "A Prisoner".

It's a bit odd to say that _The Prisoner_ influenced _The Outer Limits_ since _The Outer Limits_ came out 4 years prior to _The Prisoner_. Unless he's talking about the 90's revival of _The Outer Limits_, but no one talks about _that_ series. Meh.
    Be seeing you.

This was a very poor take on the Prisoner by someone who clearly did not understand the show. Number one never appeared?! Say what?!
