This is fantastic!!!! I have a short term rental property that has short pile shag wall to wall carpet in it that is exactly the same as what is in the video. You are absolutely correct that the problem isn't matting down it is detangling. If you get down on your knees and really look closely at this kind of carpet you can see that this is the problem. Couple of things I would add. First, use either a paint compressor or use an oil filter on your compressor lines. Paint compressors are oilless. Pancake compressors that you use for nail guns and the like are not and in fact you need to run some oil in those lines to keep the tool from wearing out. Second, steam clean right after fixing the carpet.
Well I thought the last video I watched was helpful, getting down on it with a wire pet brush, it made it a lot better but I’m definitely going to get my husband to try this. This seems so much easier lol thanks!
When I detail auto carpet I vacuum/brush and blow out all the debris before I use my extractor, although I didn’t extract on this rug. I didn’t even think about it to be honest.
Finally! An effective way to detangle shag rugs! Thanks so much!!!

I have a straight line to the tank for a few reasons when I detail cars. Thanks though!
I never leave comments but had to because this was the only thing that worked! Thank you!!!!
Omg... dude! You're my hero! I'm like, how did you even think to try that. Had to be wits end. Thanks!
For those of us without an industrial grade air compressor, what do you suggest? Can I rent one?
I don’t have a compressor. Will a can of compressed air work?
Finally a video that works

What's in your solution?? Is it homemade?
It’s fabric protectant but I’m curious if no more tangles would work!
Nice job! Smart idea
lol did you even wash it first?!?!!?!? in an industrial washer or powerful carpet cleaner?
When I detail auto carpet I vacuum/brush and blow out all the debris before I use my extractor, although I didn’t extract on this rug. I didn’t even think about it to be honest.
