    I think that leaving even a small amount of soap in the carpet fibers makes the rug get dirtier faster because every time it gets moisture the cleaning agent reactivates and pulls the dirt back in. It is a very small amount of soap used but it probably couldn’t hurt to dilute it further with a spray of just water as you’re vacuuming (like how an extractor works). Just a tip for anyone looking to do this at home. I know it’s an extra step but it could help your surfaces stay cleaner longer.

    • @CleaningHowTo
      @CleaningHowTo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I'd agree and when cleaning rugs we usually rinse with acidified water - I felt that might be a bit too complex for this tutorial though as its an 'at home' solution. Thanks so much for watching :)

      @@CleaningHowTo that’s a fair assessment. I think that making a job too overwhelming can sometimes create more obstacles for people who want to do it, but I just wanted the info out there so people don’t get frustrated. I think sometimes people think “more is better” when it comes to cleaning agents and it can be tricky to clean that up. Your solution was great in my opinion though. This video was clear and straightforward and nicely detailed. Thank you for replying!

    I bought shag carpet to cover an entire floor just before I 'inherited' 2 lovely CATS!!!! Seeing this video convinced me I will NOT be installing the carpet. It would just be impossible to keep clean to a 'reasonable' standard, let alone a professional standard. And no I won't get rid of the cats 😉. But actually, this video convinced me buying the carpet was a bad decision, cats or no cats. I have a decent carpet cleaner, but it just doesn't work well on shag rugs and carpets. And I don't have a live-in maid to clean my carpets 24/7. My mistake, I should've realized sooner, but sometimes you buy things because they're beautiful, not thinking about the maintenance.
