I honestly think data recovery is one of the most pleasant repairs (for the person providing this kind of service). Feels great knowing you recovered something that the owner could not access anymore.
Thank you for teaching us and for the amazing service in your store. I am a hobby electronics tech from PR ordered from you a week ago and got the package in 3 days. THREE. I got the package the same day I got a console for repair and today I placed a new order of parts (hdmi port and solder mask) that I need to repair that console. Extremely happy with your service!!!
If he deems a no fix, it can still be fixed, but it's not practical nor economical to do it (it can be more expensive than a new device), but if you really want it to be repaired for a sentimental value or similar you can still find a tech with less work than him to try and fix it for a higher price.
I know 1-2 more that are mainly doing microsoldering and seem more … equipped (?) for it when it’s like a almost impossible job and you know what is damaged
I love this channel ❤, i personally dropped off my wife’s macbook for repair and had a long talk about real estate with Alex, cool as a cucumber. Keep it up and Happy New Year 🎉
I'm a software engineer and I rememeber in a previous video you mentioned you came from that background as well. I bet you were amazing at that as well with your troubleshooting skills
Happy New Year to you Alex and your family. Love your work :) it helps me a lot. Shopping from your store is 1st class experience, I will definitely shop more this year for my workshop :)
Thank you Alex! I recently have started new electronics repair business as second job. I learned a lot of soldering and repairing skills and technics, from your videos. if I succeed at it, certainly you will be one of the reasons for my success. Thanks a lot.
NICE !!! Thank-you. The pins off the chip, were crushed from the 2 little indents in mold of it's case inside .. I seen a video of You doing a usb repair, and Knew YOU were the person I was looking for to DO this repair...
Just had to stop by and say how awesome my buying experience has been with the Northridge Fix crew. Quick, and I mean quick delivery. And the products they sell are the best I've found anywhere. I can tell you just the things I've bought have caused less headache. Something as simple as flux and solder wick that actually works like it should instead of disappointment and frustration. And if you have any issue with nearly _anything,_ they will bend over backwards to find a solution.
One of the most bizzare thing I've seen. As a PCB designer myself, i have no idea why the PCB uses silkscreen to deal with unused pins, instead of using the standard footprint to have all the pins soldered and the chip properly secured to the borad. Great job by the way, happy new year Alex
I swear Alex could make a video talking about scooping up dog poop, and still manage to make it sound extremely interesting. Something about the way he tells stories grasps my undivided attention.
Hi Alex! I run a repair shop in Greece. Love your content not just on repairs but also you tend to give sound business advice when you are working on something. You are like the Arnold Schwarzenegger of repair guys. 😂 In my shop, I never have this idea that I know everything. No one in repairs should. I just want you to know, If you would sell tutorials for different methods of testing and troubleshooting (no trade secrets just basic stuff) I would happily PAY a monthly fee for one video a month. Love your work and everyone can clearly see you are passionate in your craft. Every time I fix something, I always get that goofy grin too. 😅
Ho Ho 2024! Unfortunately, units like this shear off & break up and may also damage what they were plugged into. Saved units may become used again or used in projects as drives or even more memory in some areas. Thanks for sharing this with us! - Ken.
Congrats Alex!! You do awesome work and you deserve all the success your hardwork pays off...400k thats awesome!!! For those of you who are reading this 400k is also 15% of the 2.3 million Palestinians who are being ethnically cleansed by israel
On another channel it was mentioned that the TH-cam algorithm changed, weighted more to the number of comments than to the number of views (subscriptions?).
The chip is an Alcor SC908SN, which is a flash controller/USB interface controller. Some similar chips from Alcor has FMDATHx pins on that side of the chip, which are supposedly only are supposed to be used with dual channel flash memory modules only. Otherwise the FMDATHLx pins are used alone, when in single-channel mode. This would be some sort of dual OctoSPI interface that work at the same time for dual-channel. But those pins that are unconnected (FMDATHx) are both I/O, an everything would screw up if shorted, so the controller would think that it should communicate with memory in dual-channel mode, when it can't do that. The flash memory would be located on the other side of the PCB.
As always beautiful work Alex! I have one question maybe it is unrelated but I hope you see this one... I am sure this issue happens to many people`s laptops , my Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 laptop has a buzzing sound like a crackling sound whenever I put it to charge. There are 2 USB-C ports which I can charge it with (both of them on the left side next to each other) and this issue is a very common problem on Lenovo laptops. I want to open and check the motherboard to identify problem but maybe you faced similar issue before , can you think of any reason why it could happen?
I watched every one of your videos i liked electronics.i learned lot from your videos. Can you do new video for how to detect short caps and mosfets using multimeter and other methods like injecting voltage.I don’t see where you put multimeter probs when injecting or testing shorts both probs where to put ground line or positive line. Looking for reply
Happy new year and thanks for all your sharing knowledge and God bless you. All your wish I won to come true and I want do you have 1 million and more subscribers!!
if it wasn't plugged in and powered up at the time. i would disassemble it and soak it in distilled water for a few hours. then lightly scrub it with a soft bristle paintbrush or something similar. rinse it off with more distilled water and let dry in a warm place for a couple days to get rid of the majority of the water. after that if you have a low temp stove 150f to 170f or a food dehydrator big enough put it in for 20-30 min stove 2-4 hours dehydrator to make sure all moisture has been removed from the board. reassemble and you should be good. if it had power at the time of the water ingress your only option would be a repair shop.
I noticed that your C: drive is in the red with 15.9. If you want your OS to run smoother you need to transfer some applications and files onto drive D:. Red means you don't have enough free space for OS, application, and file operations which means slowing down your OS and applications.

I've heard other tech TH-camrs say if Alex can't fix it its probably done. Watching him work, its easy to see why they say that.

If Alex deems it a no-fix, it’s usually because the amount of time to diagnose and repair is not worth the time/effort
@@alanc8741You're right and That what he said every now and then, not worth the waisting time for him

So what does those unconnected pins actually do?
