That he values mares as much or more than stallions and advocates riding the mare impresses me greatly. It’s the philosophy of every great breeder I’ve ever read about. I am also happy to see him committed to preserving the essence of the Lusitano while seeking improvements. Trying to turn Iberian breeds into warmbloods loses the foundation of what makes them unique and great horses. I own a PRE and they share many characteristics of the Lusitano, including wonderful temperaments. I grew up riding other breeds, but after owning my fellow for 17 years I am committed to the Iberian horses. In fact, I would love my next horse to be a Lusitano. 😊
I agree and I find it sad that they select more and more towards the Dressage market …it’s just all about the Money…Iberian or Lusitanos are simply smaller…brave Horses bred for working on the Bulls and keeping the Family happy also..

Once you go to Portugal and experience these horses your eyes are opened, not only beautiful but amazing sensitivity and character. There’s a reason they are becoming so popular. I’m glad the breeders are getting the recognition their horses deserve
I own a Lusitano gelding imported from Spain, he is the hardest and at the same time easiest horse I’ve ever had. He mirrors my energy and is constantly thinking what to do next when I work with him, which can be exhausting and overwhelming for the both of us sometimes. I’ve got adhd and anxiety and our personalities are very similar😂😅 i feel like he is my twin flame in animal form, even though it can be a challenge to ride him, I also feel at home and complete when I spend time with him❤ Lusitanos are very smart and attentive, I kinda think of them as the Border Collies or Australian Shepherds of the horse world
Simply amazing in every way. My dream is that every breeder of every species of animal would be as thoughtful and conscientious with their breeding program as this man is. What stunning horses!

My sister owned a horse as a teen but I never have. But as a senior I have become fascinated with watching 😅 about horses. I so enjoyed your video. The passion with which you talk about your horses and the breeding program is amazing. I wish everyone that breeds any type of animal would take the care that you do in selecting the mares as well as the studs. Love to you all. ❤❤❤
