- "Song Of The Wind" from the 1972 Caravanserai album. Rumor has it that Carlos cried when he first heard the recording playback after playing this duet with Neal Schon. It is considered by many to be one of his greatest - if little known - songs. Certainly the guitar work on the album is exceptional.

Dude, a very polished and professional cover of what I think ranks as one the greatest guitar instrumentals of all time. Everyone knows as Carlos has said many times. He feels it (the song) come into him, relayed through his fingers and out his guitar which is an extension of himself. He equates many of his songs as a spiritual experience while playing them. Well Mr. Salguero, I definitely felt the vibe as you played this one. Thumbs up!

Nice playing and yes it's true and not a rumor Carlos cried when he first heard the recording playback. Neal and Carlos both played and traded licks and solos.on "Song Of The Wind" They both played Gibson Les Pauls Cherry Sunbursts on that track Neal's one got ripped of later on.
About your playing dont get me wrong just a hint try to get some more emotion into the song sometimes it sounds a littel bit flat it's like you've got a basket full of fruits try all of them not just one.

It is REALLY hard to know where Neal and Carlos solo---I thought I used to know....
It's in a 'few places'. Starting at the 2:00 in. Do 'whatever' is 'easiest' for 'you'. It 'tends' to be the 'Faster Runs', in the Mid-to-Lower (Pitch Position) on the neck, and you are just 'getting into it', and Pulling up, Slightly. Don't go to a lot of Trouble. I'll just have to keep working on it. Again, thanks for even considering it.

You've got it 'Nailed'. An Instrumental I 'want' to Nail Down as well. I'm a Lefty. Been Working on it. It's 'too bad', that some of the more Challenging 'Passages', on the Lower Pitch Strings, you Pull the Neck 'out-of-View', on the 'very ones' I have the hardest time with. surprised to see this was done without a pick I'm just a intermediate classical guitar player but I would never attempt this with one finger
Thanks James - using fingers instead of picks gives a multitude of ways to vary the tone - using nail, pads etc. to get the emotional resonance of a song.
+JSalguero I've always preferred the sound of fingers as well theres very few times I will use a pick. this really was a great job I remember when I played elect ric a fewyears ago just trying to do everything without a pick and you've got it maybe I'll go back and try it
