It's awesome to be able to play this song from beginning to end. It's a challenge just to be able to remember all the parts or phrases of the guiter riffs. Great playing!
I read that too, in a comment by Carlos, but I also read from someone who taught the song that it was Neal Schon who did that solo. Neil Schon also did a song called “Song of the Wind 2” which is also an incredibly beautiful song…so, who knows. If you listen to the original very closely, I think the second guitar only comes in at the very end. Who knows…
Those fingers!!! One of the most beautiful songs ever and I think I have never heard Santana play it like this live. Thank you for 6 minutes of goosebumps!
¡HOLYMOSES! dude you freakin rock, adding your own style on some parts, and that's the beauty of it my brother, feeling it, becoming one with the music. Peace out man.
congratulations on taking notice of that absolutely beautiful song that knocked me out the first time I heard it It especially stands out on the otherwise jazzy album "Caravanserai"
It wouldn't be BTCharlie if he wouldn't play like this thanks for sharing it. Not 100% accurate like the original "Song Of The Wind" but still nice to listen too. Carlos cried when he first heard the recording playback. They both played Gibson Les Pauls Cherry Sunbursts on that track Neal's one got ripped of later on.The Original equipment used on that song where! Two "Gibson Les Paul Cherry Sunburst Standard" played by Carlos and Neal so Carlos and Neal Schon where tradeing licks on that song so half was done by Carlos and half by Neal Schon but i can't really say when one takes over in the middle of the Caravanserai recording Carlos discoverd the Mesa Boogie amp so half of the Caravanserai record was done useing "Fender Twin Reverb" and the other half with the "Mesa Boogie"
Hi, thanks for your comment and info. The only other version I have heard is a live version which is on the VIVA SANTANA album, which I like very much. On that track I would say Neal plays the first and last verse, Carlos plays the middle section and both sound amazing! Cheers Andy.
Great job with this great Santana song. As Santana did on the original you showed great restraint and kept the flourishes tasteful by doing only what the song calls for. Some other guitarists might have overplayed on this song and killed the song's groove.
Fuckin' hell !! O_o How do you do to get the exactly same sound with a Strat ?? O_o At first I believed it was the album of Santana ! You're a Master !
Was trying to hit those high notes, but just realised my Strat only has 21 frets! It's a 25-yr-old Mexican, btw. I'm too much of a beginner to work my way around that...
Gorgeous Santana tone, on a Stratocaster! I guess, neck pick-up with tone rolled off. Could you kindly provide any info on what equipment you used. I.e. Amp and pedals? I came across this song recently and just think it is wonderful.
B/S I did that same song. at 17 . AND can still DO, that was not ok., let slide notes, 21 fr I dropped octave, then back to where carlos.did play it...@ yrs no idea , Im at Dimeola level. 65 yrs.
Obviously put some work into it. Almost there, just lacks a bit of soul. Which isn't a fault btw, very few can learn such a tune and also fill it with the same soul as Santana & Schon
Very cool. Lovely tone and vibrato. I don't know why Carlos and Neal can't do it this good live - highest compliment there... Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to comment
Great rendition, I find myself going off in waves of ad lib. Just need to settle down and feel the notes when they sing !
It brings so many memories from the 70s...beautiful rendition of a timeless tune...
Thank you for your kind words
Better tone than PRS used on covers. Very excellent!!! Probably compressor, tube screamer, pickups 1 and 2, reverb, delay. Beautiful!
Thank you for your great comment
Wonderful. I just love this track anyway. Thank you for bringing this to life. Fantastic playing. Keep on rockin'
Awesome rendition of one of the best and most underrated beautiful solos of all time....
Thank you very much for your kind comment.
I Used to think this as well but it’s him and Neal Schon going back-and-forth
My favorite song of theirs though
I read that too, in a comment by Carlos, but I also read from someone who taught the song that it was Neal Schon who did that solo. Bravo, beautiful playing and cover of this Santana classic! 👍🏻👏🏻🙌🏻

Just came across this: Awesome 👍 job
Lot of learning goes into that song, I know as I am still wending my way through it! Nicely played :)
Thanks for commenting...Your not wrong and I'm sure you'll do a great job of it.
The Maestro is the Maestro, but that's damn close. Well done !
congratulations on taking notice of that absolutely beautiful song that knocked me out the first time I heard it It especially stands out on the otherwise jazzy album "Caravanserai"
Your right, it does stand out on the album....It got a lot of playing by me back in the seventies!
Nice rendition, you've took the time to get it right and nailed it.
Thank you
EXCELLENT!

Tone, feeling, touch - not only "nice" to listen to, but wonderful to feel the same inner peace I feel when listening to Carlos himself.
Such a sweet sound!
Thank you
Just so ya'll know...more then 1/2 this songs solos are played by Neil Schon on the original recording.
Nice played - nice sound!

Hi Darren, thanks very much for your nice comment. Stay safe. Andy

Fuckin' hell !! O_o How do you do to get the exactly same sound with a Strat ?? O_o At first I believed it was the album of Santana ! You're a Master !
There doesn't seem to be any live versions of Carlos playing this. You're the closest thing we got.
Im pretty sure Neal Schon was playing on the track
It's on viva santana cd
YouRock! You must have some Latino blood in you! Awesome !!
Thanks very much....haha...I'm afraid not!
Muy Excellante!!! In other words, damn good!!!
Bravo Charlie, good sound!!
Cool 😉 wow, you nail the fab’ 80’s Carlos tones! What FX r u playin’ through? ... or, is it just the Mesa Boogie? Thank you muso-buddy. Cheers, Gaz
Amazing. Where did you find the backing track of this ?
Thank you...You can download this backing track for free along with many others from wwguitarbackingtrackco
Ah the strat goes to prove that its the greatest instrument ever created.
A very versatile piece of kit!
Soooo Gooooood 👍👍
Any chance of getting some tabs of that cool ascending riff starting at 2:07?
Was trying to hit those high notes, but just realised my Strat only has 21 frets! It's a 25-yr-old Mexican, btw. I'm too much of a beginner to work my way around that...
Yes!
Nice indeed Andy!
Hi Jeff, thanks for your comment.
I would like you to make a video playing Eric Johnson's song up tight
Super!!!!
Thank you
Süper ........
Great
Thank you
Great!
Awesome
Thank you
one of the best songs Neal Schon ever recorded
Santana and Schon together

Thank you very much. I think I'm using the neck & middle pickup on this track and an old Line 6 POD v2.0 straight into the computer with no pedals.
@@BTCharlie Thanks for Info, much appreciated.
Oh my Elvis!!! My Strato don't made this sound, because of compressor?
Cube, Player, Captors, Jesus...whatever!?
Man you copied that almost to a T. Brilliant job. But what i like is that you got the feel right. Your sound is beautiful too. Thanks
Thanks very much for your kind comment
This a lot. Better than the original!
F### I wish I could play like you man
FELICITACIONES.....😂
