Glorious. For me the best piece of music ever. Fell in love with album nearly 50 years ago. Never tire of listening to it and this is certainly my favourite track.
Caravanserai is a masterpiece from beginning to end. It's, in my opinion, the most progressive and timeless music I've ever heard. This is my favourite album on the way to coast for a surf. GOD bless you Carlos Santana.
Aside from the obvious sublime guitar duetting , Rolie’s subtle organ arrangement is an important factor in making this, for me , one of my top 5 Santana pieces. Coster makes his first appearance on this album too. Santana says this still makes him cry as it is the last album of the classic line up. Never ever fails to hit evoke powerful emotions and memories.
This is the real Santana. But dont forget the great playing of Mike Shrieve, the crazy bass-lines of Doug Rauch, the smooth Hammond of Gregg Rolie and the clever grooves of Mingo Lewis. Its improvisation but sounded like a composition. Absolut timeless
What is ironic about this recording is that both Carlos and Neil Schon contribute equally each to about half of the solo line. If you know each player's style well, then you will know who is whom.
This came out either as I was a frosh in college or just grad. hi school in Arizona....like maybe 73 or 74ish or thereabouts.. Az. was HUGE for Santana......with all our Hispanic buds who live here, it's only natural. Loved this album.....loved seeing Santana live many times thru the 70's and 80's. Just shows that we BOOMERS lived thru the best music in the 20th century.....beginning around '63.
Excellent! Like hearing this song new. All the details give it so much more color. As Carlos would say 'You can hear the reds, yellows, greens, blues! Thank you.
I agree 100%. The stuff he was putting out in the early-mid 70's was just magical! I loved it when those albums first came out and they have stayed with me since. Helped introduce me to Jazz, something that has really broadened my taste.
Had the pleasure of this wonderful music driving in both the UAE Liwa Oasis and west to Empty Quarter and also Oman in 2010. Magnificent country and wonderful people.
Those studio session of Caravaseria will never be duplicated An amazing group of young musicians meeting at the right time with the same vision and extraordinary chemistry. Credit Carlos for assembling these guys ….

One of my Santana favs. A glorious Santana. The sound Is incredible
One of the most beautiful guitar pieces ever played. Just amazing magnificent masterpiece of Santana musician. This song always in my soul.
This was mostly Neal Schon's guitar work you're hearing.
No one drives a B3 like Gregg - he’s the very best!
Wow! It's the best song ever played! The love, the force, the hope, the wish to live, it's everything we can feel in our life! I love it
One of the most beautiful guitar pieces ever played absolutely fantastic I have listened to this for 40 years and it never gets old

Could not agree more ... see my comments
Mine too. You robbed my words jaja. La fuente del ritmo its my second favourite after this one. Greetings from Lanús, Argentina 🇦🇷.
It’s Timeless …
Beautiful - Magnificent Recording the percussion section, you can hear the bass clearly.... Michael Shrieve Drums one of the best in his era...
..
The guitar tone Santana had on Caravanserai and Welcome was his best tone, IMO. His tone changed when he started using PRS guitars.
Yes this is one of my favorite songs! And Michael's drumming is splendid! Saw Carlos in Hayward 1966!

Actually, it's mostly Neal Schon's guitar work.
What is ironic about this recording is that both Carlos and Neil Schon contribute equally each to about half of the solo line. If you know each player's style well, then you will know who is whom.
You totally forgot about Neil Schon! ?????

Caravanserai hasn't aged one bit, I wish Carlos would do another jazz rock album again.
Excellent! Like hearing this song new. All the details give it so much more color. As Carlos would say 'You can hear the reds, yellows, greens, blues! Thank you.
Just a Masterpiece ..... thanks for this and a lot more ......😌
there isn't a more wonderful masterpiece than this is there?
No - it takes my breath away…
This track hits the heart for some reason makes me emotional
I’ve heard live versions of this but this studio version still is the best
Growing up in windy Southern Colorado, this song became my theme song !
Amazing to hear the fantastic drum work so clearly. Hopefully Mr. Shrieve is listening!
Never gets old.
This piece is on my top 5 Santana cuts!
It would be on top of my top 5
Really excellent sound quality, very present!
Younger long time ago but still hearings this Santana musician greatly...
For me the best of Santana with Love of my Life
I agree 100%. The stuff he was putting out in the early-mid 70's was just magical! I loved it when those albums first came out and they have stayed with me since. Helped introduce me to Jazz, something that has really broadened my taste.
Thank you. Just thank you

I can finally hear the bass!
Doug Raush RIP Duggie
This is amazing. You don't by chance have La Fuente Del Ritmo in quad and easily able to upload here would you? All the percussion on that sizzles!!
Armando Perazza on The Fountain of Rhythm on Bongos a true master of authentic Afro Cuban rhythms. RIP hermano.
I had the quadrophonic LP years ago. Mixed slightly differently but thats what I liked about it
Eso! Amazing!
AMAZING HISTORICAL EVENT WHEN GREG AND NEAL LEFT SANTANA TO BEGIN THAT LITTLE SMALL BAND CALLED JOURNEY...
Does anyone have video footage of the sessions which will show who played what parts? Priceless.
no footage of that year
Those studio session of Caravaseria will never be duplicated An amazing group of young musicians meeting at the right time with the same vision and extraordinary chemistry. Credit Carlos for assembling these guys ….
We’ll put together awesome ❤ thank you
This is Music.
Interesting no acknowledgment of Neal Schon who played the first and last 3rds of the song. He was the real star
Santana and Shrieve have never hidden Schoen’s role.
Abençoada seja nossa terra e o povo brasileiro!

The sound is just incredible. Thanks for sharing ! How did you get that ?
great
Ill have to try this through my Involve, Surround Master, should be SQ right?
Yes
There were four people I would love to talk to ali the dali lama Martin Luther king and Carlos Santana and my life would be complete.
awesome caught it
A masterpiece!
This just puts the drums up front and makes the guitars sound murky and further back in the mix
You are correct but this is useful to let one appreciate the percussion and bass.
Maybe - it’s absolutely wonderful isn’t it?!
do you have a quadrophonic stereo system?
Brasil Rio de Janeiro
NICE 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Is a másterpiece
✌
awesome as if carlos was there
Genial
🥰🎶🎶🎶🎶
Hard to believe some of that is Neal Schon. All sounds like Carlos to me.
Sounds like Neal to me - not the same tone as Carlos…
What a mentor to have at such a young age. Great musicians like Santana knows rare talent in Neal Schon
❤🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🥰

Chemically influenced..? days ?
Those were the days . Many artists reached pinnacles under the influence in music that they or anyone else can never duplicate.
guitar is not heard very well
It’s perfect for me…
