It's a little disturbing how easily the foot joint keys bend! I'd worry about bending shafts or posts, but this is reassuring. This is a great video, because my key heights were all over the place, and I've never been sure what is correct. I'm a machinist, so making a height gauge is trivial.
Good video, but failed to mention that raising the G# or low Eb keys by bending will lower the back and raise the front EVERY TIME, creating a leak on a closed key. If you lower either of them, the opposite will happen

A great series of explanations for non prima donnas. Highly recommended for those wanting to learn about flute repair. Thank you, Art
thanks for sharing your knowledge, I've been better now in overhauling old flutes from scratch with these great videos help.
One of the most concise and helpful vids yet. Pretty much perfect. Nice one!
looking forward to adjust and regulating videos. Excellent videos.

Great video! What about piccolo, alto and bass flute pad height?
While you're at it, why not add all the woodwind instruments as well? 😂
Do technicians also bend the keys of very high end flutes when working on them?
Excellent video. Would you have by any chance the 3 heights for a piccolo? Regards
Sorry, I do not know what the number for the heights are. I just do piccolos by sight.
I have lost so many of those gauges, that I have glued a 8 inch red ribbon to mine so I can find it. LOL
