I absolutely love the look of the prospector edition razors. I've always paired silver and gold together, and my everyday watch is also silver and gold finished. Now I just need to save up for one of these beauties! Or...I have President that has lost most of it's finish on the handle, but it's a terrific shaver...hmmm, maybe...
I sent my father's Fat Boy to RE for them to revamp back to factory nickel. I wanted it back to original just as dad had purchased it. It's my daily shaver and I LOVE IT! I also sent another FB that'd I purchased and had revamped with The Prospector finish. WOW just WOW! Problem now is which one gets passed down to which son.
Great vid Matt. My prospector vintage fatboy adjustable is spectacular in every aspect. Must say, to too prefer the white gold, Rhodium, silver, or platinum. I do have a 34 g (nice piece off the shelf), but the Prospector colour combo and finish is a stand out. The Rex stand you guys Rhodium plated to a mirror finish also stands out; though I also like the look and feel of stainless, so will keep my modern stainless razors as the are. Great innovation and finish, highly recommended, and worth every $$. Cheers, John

My Prospector Slim Adjustable (my birth quarter razor, revamped this year by RE) is my favourite Slim. It gives me a fantastic, smooth shave, and the finish is fabulous. It lives in its own felt-lined case, and comes out when I really want to take my time over a luxurious shave. Love it!
Thank you so much for a truly wonderful video. I have a Rex Envoy and I want to purchase another Rex razor because I'm getting the best shaves I have ever had with these. (I might try a straight razor some day...however...my heart is set on Rex.) I have a special event coming up and I am thinking of giving myself either a Konsul or Ambassador in the Prosector finish. I am not quite sure what I will opt for, we will see.
BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL. A Real ARISTOCRATIC (or even IMPERIAL) Look. I'm not a huge fan of the Full-Yellow Gold Razors (especially if they are 24k and not 18k), but in this fashion a Razor - or any other object - is Gorgeous. This kind of pairing of Silver-colour Precious Metals - like White Gold or Platinum Group (Platinum, Rhodium, Palladium, etc) or other Noble Metals of this colour tone like Sterling Silver, and even a Silver-colour Base Metal like Nickel - with Yellow Gold is my cup of tea. And the Name also suits it perfectly. Well done to you and both of those Gentlemen, especially the first one. ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ ♔ PS: My favourite Silver-colour Metals are White Gold and Platinum (among the expensive ones) and my lovely dear Nickel (among the not-so-expensive ones).

I have the fatboy, slim, and flair tip but I haven't used them. I recently found super speed with my birth date(1st quarter 1951). that one I will use soon.
Would I get a prospector razor? Yes! I have a Fatboy you did for me last year. It's beautiful. But I would love to have a long handle Konsol, in prospector, so bad that I can taste it. Dream Razor. They look awesome, and I'll bet they shave nice too. I love slant razors. But it's hard to come up with that much extra $$$. Maybe someday.
Damn! Just when I thought that after getting my Ambassador not more than 2 weeks ago I was cured of RAD, you tell me I can get it revamped to the Prospector finish? Rhodium and gold? OMG 😱 my wife is gonna kill me.
Can RE replate Micromatics? I thought Micromatics were a nightmare to plate? Most replaters wont touch them. I think you can't disassemble them, at least not easily, and they probably gather a lot of gunk inside due to the design.. so I guess they could ruin your chemicals. I really don't know.. but I know most wont do them. I checked out about this too and everyone told me it's often better to just buy a NOS Micromatic. They're not really that expensive as GEMs are sort of a niche thing.. due to being that bit different, lack of decent blade options etc. I got a gold Clog-Pruf new old stock, in the fancy case with the leatherette and the velvet inside, blades, bank etc. Still has the string and tags on it. If I remember right I think it was like $55-$60 something like that and they threw in a loose Fatboy with it which is probably worth $30. Overall worked out cheaper than a replate.
@@aydenthes10man72 Ah I understand. Hmm, I really don't know then in that case. I see what you mean it being a heirloom razor. I suppose you could just enquire with replaters. Hope you get something sorted out! Best wishes.
@@Sinnerboy88 thank you I mean it’s not in horrible condition but it’s got some scratches and some wear through spots where you can see brass but it’s in really good condition
There is one, from the 40's, already done up in prospector on their website for $135. And you won't have to pay to ship it there, or wait for it to be done up.
Just sent in my 1959 Fatboy for a Prospector revamp very stoked after watching video thank you Matt for your Great videos. Ed
I have the fat boy adjustable prospector. I’ve used it so many times. Worth every penny. Easy to clean. It’s just a badass razor no doubt.
I have 3 Prospector razors and love the look!
Just ordered my 40s style Aristocrat Prospector Edition with you guys. I CAN'T WAIT! ;-)
Right on! Thx

Fat Boy Prospector owner here, definitely makes the razor feel special.
Absolutely beautiful. Great look
I have 3 prospectors: 1 fatboy, 1 slim, and 1 ambassador. They are absolutely STUNNING! 🤩
Totally agree!
I have the fat boy prospector and it looks as good as new. Your finishing process is top notch.
Thx 🙏
They all look great! I would go for a slim.
absolutely beautiful done,
I think the old type ball end, with open comb would look cool.
They do look like the best of the best. 😍
Very cool razor plating hack. It's a cool look, not for me, but I get why it's popular.
Hands down I LOVE my Konsul Prospector edition. Excellent performance while looking FAN-TASTIC!!!!

I own Rex Konsul Prospector. Absolutely love it
Looks great. I've had a few razors Revamped by you guys and they are impeccable!
Glad you like them!
How much to get my Slim done in the prospector colors

Thx 🙏😊

bought a fatboy prospector from you and I absolutely love it. (also bought earlier a flaretip rhodium - gorgeous)
Will definitely be my next purchase!
I want to order one of the adjustable Prospector Razors. What is the difference between the four options?
Oh Matt, Yukon Cornelius isn’t “silver and gold”. That song is by the fat snowman voiced by Burl Ives 😂
The Burl Ives classic
The Slim is the GOAT for Prospector finish!
I think it’s a very nice finish combination and I could see it on my Fat Boy 😊
It looks awesome 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I have the fatboy, slim, and flair tip but I haven't used them. I recently found super speed with my birth date(1st quarter 1951). that one I will use soon.
I would and almost did when I sent a slim in to be refurbished. I don’t think vintage or new matters.
I have one of your prospector fat boys and I love it !

I want one
WOW Gorgeous Razors !!!!
Superb stuff Matt
While these look AWESOME, this is not for me. I am not crazy about the gold color. However, I do like the look of the rhodium.
Your websiste does not show a prospector in the REX. Only the Gillette in the limited section.
If you go to the individual rex razors you will see a drop down menu for the various finish options including prospector
I’m wanting to send in my Gem clog pruf for the revamp service I’m genuinely curious if the prospector would work on it

Prospectors are Cool, how much to turn my Super Speed into Prospector?
Dollars & Cents❓
Rhodium and gold plating is expensive, so the full Razor Emporium revamp of a TTO Gillette starts at $150
There is one, from the 40's, already done up in prospector on their website for $135. And you won't have to pay to ship it there, or wait for it to be done up.
