    Hi Matt , My grandparents had two butcher shops in Detroit during the 1920-1930's. And of course, made hundreds of pounds of hand made soap using lye for the process. The process is named saponification. On the farm, we had large oval, enameled steel trays of this soap, which, after hardening, we would breakup and cut into bars for the bathroom, and with a sharp knife, I would "shave" some of the bars into small slivers for the laundry. Before there were additives to soften the hard well water, this soap was very efficient for cutting the water's hardness, and very low cost. Before that, the pioneers would pour liquid fat through wood ash to make soap. Absolutely nothing was wasted on the farm. As a result, there were no 'Land Fills' as such. It was a much harder, but much more physically rewarding life from farm labor. Almost never was there a night when it was difficult to go to sleep. The physical energy expended during the day to keep the farm running, was all the 'sleep aid' needed. By the way, what are the main ingredients used in Vegan shave soap, to make the lather? Kind Regards, Dave PS. My father always used 'Wet Shaving' for his beard. I truly enjoy returning back to the way he shaved. Discovering Razor Emporium has brought back so many wonderful memories, especially shaving as my father did, watching him wet shave in the morning.

    For anyone who’s having issues with irritation and think it might be the fragrance from the shave soap or aftershave, try using Proraso White Shave Soap with Cerave Moisturizing Cream for aftershave. Helped me out tremendously with irritation.

    I picked up Octavia Noir from you a couple of months ago- ordered the day you put out the video that you carrying Gingers Garden. Octavia Noir-Really great lather and subtle fragrance. It's a wonderful scent, that doesn't slam you in the face, but it's right there with you. The aftershave balm is so soothing and has just the right amount of scent. It's similar to PAA Space Jelly in consistency.
    I have several different Gingers Garden setups, and they all are great. Her Citrus Freeze is like a chilled peeled orange citrus kick. Wonderful for summer or at a tropical location shoot. Skully nails the scent of October leaves falling and fresh rain on topsoil. I know that sounds weird, but it is a wonderful earthy scent.
    What's really cool too, is that Irena will custom make fragrances for you. You can have her custom make shave soap, splash, EDP, body soap and shampoo. Really sweet!
    I’ve used Rex blades in my Rex Konsuls, Ambassador, Henson Ti++, Yates Winning Ti, Copper DOC, and others. Every shave was great. Sharp and smooth. I only use a blade twice, but for a test I used a Rex blade 3 times. Third use was just like the first two.
    No Glue and double wrapped, just how I like my blades to come. They’re certainly not the cheapest, but since I have nearly $2,000 in hardware and the same amount in software, I don’t mind the cost of blades. After all the blade is where it all comes together!
    The Rex Platinum have moved into my #1 blade spot. The sad part about that is that I have like 2000 other blades to get through. 😱

    I add this exact comment every time someone posts a Red Tip in Wickededge: I love my Red Tip.
    I’ve got three but my go to is the one that’s been revamped by RE; it’s absolutely beautiful.

    I am in the flare tip club (D1) and I love it, and now I have enjoyed the Rex blades that I recently bought and they are very good. Will be my go to from now on. Great review. Waiting for my Super adjustable 84 which I recently ordered. So many things to enjoy and be grateful for. Great review.
    Have a super day.

    I have a red tip. 2 actually. I have the Black and blue and no color models as well. I enjoy them all. It's a challenge sometimes with the mildest ones.

    I have two red tips; one in original condition with sentimental value, and one purchased revamped from you that's in my regular rotation. Love them! Thanks for hilighting the red tip with these new products.

    Great Shave Matt! The Rex blades were a great success and showing them in a vintage razor really shows that they are versatile. I don't have course hair and shave daily, but it would be great to own/use such an iconic razor like the Red Tip. Just not sure if it would be too aggressive for my face. I guess a more mild blade would help adjust for that, right?

    • @RazorEmporium
      @RazorEmporium  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Correct but it's not that aggressive to begin with

    Nicely shaved. Ginger's Garden has been around for a long time. Are your blades manufactured at the same factory that produces Tiger blades?

    Question about the Polsilver super iridium blades. Are they the same as the Gillette super blue blades?
    What do you think about the Perma-Sharp super? I hear they were all made at the same Russian plant.

    • @RazorEmporium
      @RazorEmporium  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      PolSilver are out of production. They were similar to perma sharp. Different than silver blue.

    Sensitive skin here also. Too much fragrance and my skin breaks.out. To those considering a Red Tip: get one. Not an aggressive razor imo. My skin cannot tolerate blade feel and the Red Tip is no problem for it whatsoever.

    Rex Blades and Perma-Sharps are my #1 and 1A . Both deliver wonderful shaves. I consistently get 3 head & face shaves from either. After that Personna Comfort Coats come third. I don't mind the price after trying them. They are well worth the small bump in price. Quality usually costs more. Cheers!

    I'm in the club. My last two shaves have been with a Gillette red tip (and razor emporium Fireside). I got it at a antique shop probably a year ago. It was missing an end cap, and it was dirty. I hadn't ever used it before. Hadn't even cleaned it. I found one at the local big flea market, this past weekend. Someone had stripped, or wire brushed, most of the nickle finish off of it, and the red paint, and looked like, colored it with a black magic marker. It took me a couple of looks to realize what it was. I got it cheap, took it apart, got the marker off of it, scrubbed it with semi chrome, then Dawn, using a toothbrush and pipe cleaners, and used it's parts to fix mine. Works great. It's comfortable and smooth. I'll have to try one of my REX blades in it next time. Those old ones are so much fun.

    Vegan PAA CK6 all the way. No animal based soaps for me. I think the tallow'ists out there are going on the placebo effect. There are plenty of great vegan shaving soaps, croaps and creams.

    Irena is a 3rd generation soapmaker who started as a little girl in the Czech Republic. 3 generations is a great resume! She made me a spearmint and basil soap that is so good.
    I've been looking for a red tip Rocket for a while now. I have the other British red tip with the SS style mechanism, and it's incredible. It's got me wanting the Rocket as well. Do you ever get those in?
