  • Have you recently bought an iKamper, and found that the standard mattress isn't quite what you'd hoped for? Or found that you just want that little bit of extra luxury? You might have then come across the RTT Comfort Mattress Series from iKamper, and as part of your research, you might be struggling to find a video that provides a comprehensive look at an RTT Comfort Mattress. When I got my RTT Comfort Mattress, I thought I'd use that as an opportunity to make a video explaining all about the RTT Comfort Mattress, to hopefully make your purchasing decision that little bit easier

    Top quality appraisal, thorough, very clear and a professional video. I bought an Ikamper 3.0 this summer, considered the new mattress, and will buy one even though they are £500! You highlighted a few issues I had not considered, especially the noise of the standard non RTT mattress. Very helpful.👍 update April 27, 2023. I just received the matress for my 3.0 ikamper. It comes in two sections. Very nice quality. I also got a storage rack snd shoe rack. These were good quality, but not worth the £72 each. Ikamper should have made them from thicker material, as what they've used is a little too thin, but acceptable. I also bought the Flextail electric pump you recommended. They are now £23 from Amazon. Works like a dream👍.

    Great quality video and very helpful! Do you feel that there is enough space on the shell side of the tent to keep some bags of things like clothes, extra blankets, etc. or does the mattress fill the space so much that it would be a constant fight to keep the bags off of your head during the night?

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It certainly fills that end of the tent more than the standard mattress by virtue of it being taller than the standard mattress. But at the same time, by being taller, there’s no a little lip between the mattress and the shell to put jumpers etc. I think ultimately, it would depend how tall the sleepers are. I’m 5ft7, so don’t need anywhere near the full length of the Mini to be comfortable, so I could lie a little further down the mattress, move my pillows down, and still have plenty room for my gear on the shell side

    Thank you for making such a detailed video! I bought the inflater but I didn’t receive an attachment like the one pictured on your inflater. You were able to attach it and not hold it the whole time it was inflating, which I like. What is the attachment you are using?

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, unfortunately I don't know the specifics, as it's just an attachment which came with my pump when I ordered it from Amazon. I'd bring this up with the seller, as it might be missing from the item / package. Falling that, it wouldn't be too difficult to have one 3D printed (using a service like SendPrintSend if you don't have your own 3D printer)

    Great video, much appreciated. Can I leave the RTT comfort inside (after deflating it) when I pack up/fold up the RTT or would I have to remove it first.

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can most definitely leave it in, its thinner than the standard mattress so there's more room for leaving bedding up there. I leave 4 pillows and 2 x 3-season sleeping bags in mine at all times. THere's a video on my channel showing what and how I pack in my Mini 3.0

  • @DanielBeere-hs8xx
    @DanielBeere-hs8xx ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Heya, thanks for a great review ! So when you’re not using it do you leave it deflated in the tent ? Ie does it come with the sticky Velcro like the original foam mattresses so when you flip it closed it doesn’t fall ?
    Thanks

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      Yes, I deflate it and leave it in the tent. I simply fold it into the bigger part of the tent (the part that the expansion panel folds on to) and leave it in there. I've got it in there with 2 sleeping bags and 4 regular pillows, as it gives more room than the standard mattress.

  • @supercrazysane

    Thanks for this, convinced me to order one (along with the pump and lights etc). I will do the same re carpet tiles, can you recall roughly how many you need ? 🙏🤓

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  ปีที่แล้ว

      The internal space of a Mini is 128cm x 205cm. I used 50x50cm tiles. So roughly 3 across and 5 down, but then definitely need spares for filling in the smaller gaps. So I'd reckon 17-18 tiles all in. The tiles I used from B&M were bought individually so popping to get more / return excess wasn't really an issue. Hope that helps

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've not tried, but I highly doubt it. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it either. Fully inflated, the mattress is quite firm, and I can't imagine folding in that state would be desirable for the longevity of the mattress

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  ปีที่แล้ว

      Just cheap carpet tiles from a store here in the UK called B&M Bargains. Was just the cheapest I could find in a colour I liked. It doesn't add any thermal properties. Some people do it to combat moisture, I just did it because I liked the look of it

  • @vladimirmitrovic9724

    Did you try using the pump to deflate it so you dont need to roll it up?

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did, and to be honest, I didn't find a massive difference time-wise. Great for unattended deflation, but I think for longer trips, I'll stick to just rolling to deflate to save battery life. Although I think the Flextailgear pump would inflate / deflate many times over a week long camping trip (if you were moving site each day)

    Nice video & good talk! However, shame to buy a hardshell roof top tent that is set in one minute and the hassle to install the matress RTT. Ikamper do put a very high price to a good night of sleep by delivering a bad matress at purchase of the roof top tent...

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do agree. For how much we pay for an IKamper tent, I do feel it should be included, but that’s business I guess! Problem is, I’m a sucker for ikamper’s quality and branding! 😂

    What does the mattress feel like? More like a foamy or an air mattress?

    • @MichaelYarde
      @MichaelYarde  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This might sound silly, but it depends how much you inflate it, it's quite customisable. Fully inflated, it's quite hard - but not uncomfortable. If you prefer a softer mattress, you simply don't inflate it as much. Fully inflated it feels like a dense, supportive foam. Doesn't feel like an air mattress at all imo.
