"wife is gonna agree to go camping now"- exactly on point. Wife never wanted to go because it's uncomfortable, and I agree with her. But my daughter loves going outdoors, and hopefully the rooftop tent is what is going to make it worthwhile.
@@muathalghamdi3385 I get about 18 mpg on the thruway and 15 mpg city. I have always had a tent on the truck so I have never tested the MPG without it. It has a very small overhang over the cab of the truck, maybe 2-3 inches. I actually like that it hangs over a little bit because it helps keep cargo in back dry.
I get 18 mpg highway and 15 mpg ciry with just the tent. If I add the intech flyer trailer fully loaded for a trip I average about 13.5 mpg. I haven't tested it without the tent.
The mattress looks like a piece of cheap foam...how can they justify this given the price? Nice tent, but they're too proud of their product from what I've seen on the market now.
I do believe that it is a cheap piece of foam, however, it is surprisingly comfortable in my opinion. This product is a classic example of "you get what you pay for". The Skycamp has been reliable and has shown no sign of deterioration after 1 year of heavy use, unlike our Roofnest that we owned for 2 years where the hardshell was cracking at all the corners, the clearcoat was peeling and zippers were ripping.

Great video and narrative. Nice tent for sure
leaving the side windows partially unzipped will let air escape and make closing a little easier.
Great tip! I'll definitely use that. Thanks!
This is 1500 silvarado right? Im just wondering how would the Skycamp 3.0 fit into my 1500 Sierra? I see it not extending beyond the roofrack?
@muathalghamdi3385 It's a 1500 short bed. It fits perfectly over the bed.
@@HookedOnTheJourney wonderful. Is it extending beyond the cabin and the bed? And does it affect fuel consumption?

Anything you put on your truck extra is gonna change fuel consumption.@@muathalghamdi3385
It extends over the cab by an inch or 2 but it still looks like a clean build.
How does it affect the mpg on your truck?
