Thanks for the content, Boomguy and Andyr. I enjoyed this episode! Drax "Tank and Spank" sounds fun and looks interesting to play. Love the series. Keep it up! My decks to try are piling up, and I'm not mad at it.
I love the Drax deck, I never thought to use him for sidekick! I'm definitely gonna play that one. I'd probably cut out the first aids and add in endurance and clarity of purpose. Maybe even a Symbiote suit. Imagine how tanky you could be with all that health and activating Mantis multiple times a turn!
i tried to tape the card to back of my friend before asking him to help me with something...i accidentally reversed the tape and it stuck to my hand...i felt so demoted :D
For the second hero, this is cool to see a Wasp deck with Sidekick that's completely different from the one I'm playing right now. This looks like it's going to produce a very large Voltron ally! I'll probably be publishing it today, but mine's a Sidekick deck that only periodically uses Sidekick. I'll point this out in the writeup of my deck, but Swarm Tactics can be used with either Ant-Man ally, which gives it a second opportunity to play it (though it's not always the most valuable choice).
@@WinningHandPodcast I haven't published the true Voltron ally deck yet, but I did just post the Wasp Leadership ally with Sidekick that's completely different from the one presented (though I love the "giant" Ant-Man ally that clearly results from the deck you featured). 🙂 If you're interested in seeing the contrast, as a reminder, I'm AbisMal in MarvelCDB. The deck is called "Shoot the Moon."
@@WinningHandPodcast Thanks! I started off with a more creative build that won quite a bit, but I can't help but optimize for winning, so ended up losing cards like Black Panther, Noble Sacrifice, and Call for Aid. They worked, just not as optimally for the variety of villains I was facing. Gee -- I wonder what type of player I am. LOL
I haven't watched the part of the video featuring the 2nd deck yet, but I think the Drax deck is a pretty cool build. I actually thought of this deck as a multi-player deck (though it's cool to hear it functions well in solo). That's part of why I figured there were three copies of First Aid in it -- because Mantis is meant to be a sort of healing battery for the entire team. That's why I figured it had three copies of Command Team as well, so that Mantis can certainly heal Drax as much as is needed but then using one or two copies of Command Team to also heal another member of the team here and there. Mantis would then need a significant amount of healing available for herself as well and therefore need First Aid regularly available. She might not use it all the time, but she'd want three copies so that it is there when needed.
@@mcandyr What's funny is that I only play solo, but I was glad hear from you that it works that way. With so few allies, it didn't seem like it could really keep all minions and threat at bay in a solo game and would rely on a fair amount of luck in getting an ally out in time. But when I started thinking about the deck from a multi-player perspective, it seems like it could be very powerful in assisting the entire team with healing while still letting Drax blast away at the villain with his attacks. 🙂
Great podcast, would love to see more videos like this about decks, both decks sound interesting and makes me want to try them. I think sidekick is tricky cause a few times I've played it, it works really well. However, I've also played sidekick decks that flop tremendously because I'm trying to so hard to make it work early game and never get the mechanic really up and running haha.
Yes, I was concerned about this problem, too, so I often include X-23 and a copy of Advanced Suit in the deck. The cool thing about this combo is that X-23's 3 attack allows her to finish off minions regularly, so she gets ample opportunities to heal with Advanced Suit and then attack again (or here and there provide an emergency 1 thwart).
Hmmm... Per my other comment, it might be a good idea for me to feature a deck showing a video example of that on my channel. I'll have to think about that -- there are a ton of decks I want to try! 🙂
Excellent tips on the second deck. Shows room for improvement, especially consistency. Will try it with changes to see if it helps the table more so than just being fully focused on the combo.
I love sidekick! Drax and Wasp are great showings for the variety you can get from this card. One hero turns into an aggressive group support and the other just turns into a consistent source of damage with being able to cycle back Target Practice. I've wanted to use Target Practice in a deck and hadn't considered it again since sidekick has been out. Love the content and discussion. Keep up the great work gents!
Drax was one of the first heroes I thought of when sidekick came out, after Spider Woman, X-23, and Angel. I've got a Drax Sidekick deck that is 95% identical to this one, and it works great. I do have a couple more allies (Gamora being one) and it feels great. If I'm playing it it MP (I have), it fills the aggression slot in a lineup, not the leadership one. You all talk about that, but it's a heavy damage deck that can chip in an insane amount of healing around the table. Separately, I've played Drax a ton in protection and he works wonderfully there too. You can't usually defend for the entire table, but you can get two defenses solidly just about every turn, while dealing an above-average amount of damage too. It's sort of a hybrid of an "always ready" and "perfect defense" deck. Change of Fortune makes it sing.
I love seeing aspects more of how you plan to accomplish the role instead of what the role is. Like you said, this deck accomplishes the damage role really well. It’s just using Leadership to do that. And some aspects are better at some roles than others (justice being as good at encounter card management as protection, but not as good as mitigating damage as protection is)
LOL. I'm a SPIKE big time. My Magic deck was mostly single only cards (Demonic tutor, Wheel of fortune, Mind Twist, Underworld Dreams, etc) with Shadowmages/Counters/Discards. I guess I haven't changed much.
Hey, I had a rules question and couldn't find the answer anywhere. I figure you are Andy might know for certain. I'm had 2 Upside the Head in my hand and attacked. In my mind, both of them would be in the attack window with their hero response, so I could play the first one and confuse Magneto (because I have the attachment on him now so that he can be confused) and then I should be able to play the second one and also Stun Magneto. Am I looking at that correctly?
@@WinningHandPodcast Yes, I think so, too. Based on the way we play Ms. Marvel, everything after the attack seems to fall within the window of a "response," so I would think I could do it. This is the first time I ever thought about doing it. I've had two copies in my hand before, but it had never occurred to me to use one right after the other previously.
I love all the content recently Boom guy. I hope things are going well for you. Happy new year

That’s a really clever build! You’re a genius. 😁
Dang! That’s a ton of health to work with!
Multiplayer question v/ good!
Absolutely!
Gents, thanks for adding in desired player counts for the decks. If you can send me a Sidekick to help me shovel snow, I'd appreciate it.

I like your thinking on how you’d use the Drax deck in multiplayer, but Drax’s deck is actually the one built for solo!
It’s really fun to see how people would use those cards in their context and play-style!
