This was a good one. Motion is hard to learn and I’m new to it. You do a good job explaining it. Some go so fast or don’t explain stuff so easy to get lost or wonder why some setting is needed or why something isn’t working. I hope you do more Motion tutorials!
Great job of showing the steps. I am a new Apple Motion user and cannot follow half of the tutorials I watch. You explained and showed all the steps at a good pace.
Great job! Most tutorials leave out so many details and are so fast you can’t follow. Yours are at a great pace and very easy to follow! You might enjoy some of the stuff I made. I love doing the map feature.
Thanks Gary. I purchased Motion 2 yrs ago and have yet to use it once. Seems very complicated and the tutorial videos I found weren't very useful. This was a really good video and I will play with this later. Maybe a couple more Motion videos? Thanks again!
You have a new fan, thanks for this, so much easier than Adobe AE, I'm new to all things Mac, been hard coming from Windows, lost all files of various projects over the last couple of months thinking I knew how icloud worked lol, my own fault, looking forward to what comes next 👍
This was aa GREAT video and very informative. I travel a lot by Touring Motorcycle. I would like to do this and incorporate it into an Album of still pictures that I use for storage and sharing called FLICKR. Is it possible to import a route, namely a GPX file or a KML file and apply the motion effects to it rather than having to redraw the route all over again.
Useful? You are getting me all giddy to try this out. Just one question: where do I find maps (worldwide, with zoom in detail) that I can use in my own content (social media)?
Great tutorial! Is this the first one you’ve done with Motion? I use FCPX and have been considering purchasing Motion for some time now, but it just seemed like there was a steep learning curve, and I’m still recovering from the FCPX learning curve! Maybe if you do more of these well-explained videos, I may just make the leap. Thanks again.
@@patrickgoethals3235 In the first one notice how motion path is selected and then I click above the items in the timeline as you would to select what is there (nothing) and then motion path is no longer selected. The checkmarks are for visible/active, not selection.
Motion is one of those apps which requires a significant investment in learning. It's a very steep curve but capable of some amazing results. It's also able to severely frustrate and confuse!
Interesting... I never even knew this app existed. Maybe one day, but for now Ima gonna stick with After Effects, I spent too much 'blood, sweat and tears' mastering it and I can't let it go.

Great tutorial Gary! Lot's of options for sure. Thanks for sharing and hope all is going good for you!
Damn, I was needing/wanting this! I didn't know what it was but I do now. Thank You Sir!
Thanks very much, Gary, for this fascinating and informative video! I love this.
Gary, that was very helpful and I was finally able to create a map with a write-on car icon! Thank you.
Thanks bunches
Thanks Gary.
Great video Gary, thanks for your contribution
Thank you very much.
This is great! Thank you! 😊
Very helpful video. Nice work.
Thank you very much buddy, this is really helpful, Atlast I have found you.
Great video, thanks!!!
Amazing!
Great Video as always! Thanks Gary! Still easier in Keynote than in Motion or iMovie
I don't have Motion (or a Kayak) but this so good! I may go out and buy both, haha thanks!

I doubt there is an easy way to do that.

Look in stock image collections. The US government also provides a lot of maps you can use (USGS for instance).
05:24 There is a solution to fix this issue: Motion → Preferences → Project → Create Layers At → Start of project
so cool! where do you get your map backgrounds so as not to copy something protected?
Use a stock image service or look for a government map (USGS, etc).
A very useful and informative video tutorial today! Thank you, Gary!👏🏻❤️
I paid for Motion apps but it just sit there, never be opened. I thought one day I'm gonna learn how to use it for my channel.
That was 1 year ago. 😅

I've done several. You can search for them on my Channel or my site.
Another thing I will be looking into is how to use Apple Compressor, bought like 7 years ago, the only I did was - updating it. hahahahahaa.
What do you mean by decelect, everything stays checked. thx 4 the vid.
Not sure what point in the video you are referring to.
@@macmost 6.35 ( if i deselect everything so you don't ....) & on 7.53 (if i decelect it, the kayak...)

How about getting a real map? Where should I go to get the best quality map to do this with?
Lots of stock image collections would have them. Or, the USGS and such.
😮👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ouch Apple just another 50bucks from me, Thanks Gary
