Good recovery there Will ;) Wasps are evil, bees our our friends :D Can't wait for your first projects, kind of hoping you'll figure out a wasp Damascus just for the fun of it hehehe
Nice clarification, but now I have another question. Has Alec stopped making stuff for his company? Seems as though this was the facility they were working out of but now you reside in it so I am left wondering where did all his production move. If it even did at all seeing as he doesn’t even sell his grinders on his website anymore. Just curious.
@@Volt64bolt Yeah, a combination of him and his wife wanting to visit their roots and the covid fiasco, which resulted in their settling down. I'm sure I am missing a LOT of factors we don't know about, but those are two I am aware of.
@@Schoe345 Sam's got his own business as a farrier (he's done a few videos on his own channel re-shoeing horses from his truck), but yeah, I miss the Alec and Sam days back on barker st.
When Alec chose you among all the other applicants to work with him on his channel he chose incredibly well. Proud of you Will. Youre an inspiration young man.
This is honestly really nice. The content I enjoyed most from Alec’s channel was when it was you two. You taking over this shop is nostalgic and truly pays an homage to the good days. Glad to see you taking it over.
It's the ol' Steele/Stelter workshop! I can't handle the emotional roller coaster. Great to see it bring brought back into the TH-cam world again. Will, I can't wait to see what you do with it (and make in it).
Matt a few years later : Hi everyone, my name is Matt and I'm now back in the new, old, old shop that used to be Alec and Will's where I've taken over ownership from Will so he can go back to his other Montana shop, while Alec sets up a new one in Australia... because he's taken a fancy to damascus steel boomerangs.
Will, please use this shop to make videos like you and Alec did in the old days. I miss that so much. Make unique stuff in 14 part series again. I always looked forward to each new episode. If you did that I have no doubt your channel would grow tremendously. That's what attracted me to Alex Steele in the first place.
Nice to see the old place again. Glad you're going to be putting it to use again. I definitely miss the Alec Steele/Will Stelter Era. You guys were one of my favorite teams on all of TH-cam. I hope you guys can get together again once in a while. It'd be nice to you tag team something once more.
Man this is a sad era to see ending lots of great content created here I remember back when you first visited Alec In Europe for the sword collab what a great many years it’s been to see you two develop. I’m sure the new adventures to begin here will be excellent. You two are largely part of what got me started making custom knives.
Glad to see that space not go to waste since Alec had to close down the operations. I will be looking forward seeing what the company produces. Stay safe.
Yeeeees!!! I haven't watched Alec's channel in years but it was so much fun seeing the shop still set up mostly how I remember it. But also refreshing to see it being rearranged in a practical way 😂 praying the business endeavours go well for you guys!
Congratulations Will. Great to see the New Old Shop back in operation. Looking forward to future videos of the items you choose to create and manufacture, in the New Old Shop. I enjoy the Knife Making videos, however; looking forward to a variety of steel projects in the future as well. Best wishes and "Good Fortune" with your new business. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
1:54 Will calls on his inner Ron Swanson in 3.. 2.. 1... Seriously, glad to see you in this space. Great memories we all have of watching you and Alec together. Last but not least: Hey, Matt. Welcome to the channel.
I'm super stoked to see the old Steele shop getting used, again. I hope it turns out to be a profitable endeavor for you, Will! Managing two shops should be interesting
Little "build a knife" kits might be a cool easy revenue stream for you guys. It would be cool to be able to have a high quality knife that we assemble. Everything looks awesome guys, keep it up.
Hey Will, I bought that Hedley & Bennett cheap chef’s knife you recommended a while back. I bought it as a gift for my step father who cooks a lot for my dear old mum and he absolutely loves it. We live on struggle st so I have no chance of ever getting a great knife but I wanted something that you would recommend and I’m shocked at just how good it is. Thank you for the great tip and awesome content.
Helpful thought. Put the office upstairs And all the tolls on the ground floor, heavy cutting and grinding one room for the mess But the other room is also a contained unit. Fabrication area for fume extraction
Steak knive, pairing knife, i like that.. And when you said someone from the Netherlands had won i was a bit hoping it was me but congrats Reusink.. gefeliciteerd! Netherlands is between U.K. and Germany by the way. We have a lot of American history too.. Harlem, Brooklyn, Wall Street.. New York used to be New Amsterdam. If we hadn't traded it with the English for Surinam you'd be using Metric and would speak Dutch 😆
6:20 love how you guys have a whole hardware shop upstairs (at least for anything your shop could need) I strive to have an area for all parts for projects, but currently space is too tight, so I'm forced to run to a big box store several times every project, lol
I want two! One for steak and marking wood, and one for marking wood and steak. I wish you guys all the luck with this because this is a really cool and ambitious plan
It's sad knowing the shop has been empty this entire time. Last I had heard it was making anvils, grinders, and then clothes... then he visited home, then was going to do a shop in the US and UK, then heard nothing... just the UK videos. I never knew the shop was just a storage spot for tools that were no longer used after lovingly being repaired. Just a forgotten bit of the past... waiting to rust and die. It's nice to see you leasing the old space Will. I know you have a lot of memories there, and had a lot of fun times. Isn't it a ways from your shop though? Are we not going to be seeing many videos from here once it's up and running?
What an interesting comment regarding Europe. I suspect that there's an incredible amount of European in each of your bloodlines. All the best in the workshop.
14:46 that knife could be modified a bit to be a marking knife for woodworkers. So could probably also sell those to other makers. Just an idea. Excited to follow along with your new venture!
Hey everyone, the "bees" were actually Yellowjacket Wasps.
