Hi, everyone, I’m Audrey from Janus Academy, an established language school based in Singapore. We focus on teaching Chinese and Japanese, specialize in Chinese phonetics. Hope you find our videos interesting and educational.
In this series, I am going to show to you how to write hanzi - Chinese characters. Writing Chinese characters is like building blocks. Once you know all the basics, it's actually not complicated to follow the steps and complete the whole piece. This episode is on radicals - the part which gives meanings for every character. Hope you find it useful.

This channel is pure gold. Perfect pace, everything is written and clearly pronounced in both English and Chinese. Also, I like that you don't repeat, cause it compresses the video and I can rewind if I need to watch sth again anyway.
Thank you for watching and the lovely comment 😊

منذ مدة و انا أضن أن الحروف الصينية هي أصعب الحروف في العالم
لكن عندما تابعت هذا الفيديو لحضرتك أختي الصينية قد تبين لي أن الأمر سهل مثل حروف لغتي العربية
شكرا على الدرس

Chinese and Vietnamese do have similar pronunciation and meaning on certain words. These videos are really helpful.
Yes, you are right. Thank you so much! 😇
I am enjoying your teaching. When you got to gou and the dog barked, my dogs all began barking. It made me smile.
I teach Chinese language in a creative and funny way.
Chinese characters still retain their pictographic origins. Knowing what the characters look like originally can help understand the meanings and remember them vividly.
I’ve spent about 100,000 hours studying English humor and Western culture, and many years studying Chinese culture and jokes. My native language is Chinese.
I like the way you write and explain Chinese characters. I am an old student of Chinese but have forgotten the logic and key components. 谢谢老师
不客气😉
🎉😢😮
This is so helpful! Thank you so much. Your videos make learning Chinese seem less intimidating 🖤
Thanks for watching too :)
Using advance radical, Eg 木,囗,氵冫,日月,口rectangle.

I am enjoying your tutorial. It is such an adventure. But knowing how characters are written is very helpful
your video editing simple but addictive and soothing voice makes me smirk (in a good way) while learning particularly the frozen clip😂. Your educational program is difference from other sources, ill subscribed, once a week upload would be great. Chaoyo to you and me 🎶
Thanks Celine 😊 for the warm encouragement! 加油 jiā yóu!
Nice explanation
Good fun. Great show Brian and Andrew.
I love the way you break it all down but this is way to high speed for a brand newbie like me. Better if you can repeat a few times
Thanks for watching! Sure, that's a great feedback 👍
Thank you so much & Love and respect. I can speak Chinese. But I can't read and write. From now I will start writing Chinese

Thank you dear Sister
I' m understood that is deficult become easy, thanks
Thank you. You use a brush pen, but the hand position would then have to be different to keep the characters correctly?
I love your teachings, I only wished that they were traditional characters. Do you have another series with traditional characters?
Thanks for watching! Sorry I grew up with simplified characters and the majority of Mandarin speakers use the simplified version. I'll need to learn first before I can make a video ☺️
你好。我叫笑一。謝謝你!
Many thanks mum!

Beautiful! May I ask What kind of pens are you using?
It's a soft brush pen for calligraphy, you can choose from fine and medium points.
Good.
Do we have to write the words you make out of the Radicals?
Where do you get the flashcards? I wanna buy but couldn’t find any where. TIY
why is yii on your marker so thick

What pen is this?
I just learned that tea is the same in Mandarin and Portuguese chá
Haha maybe because tea was originated from China, even the word "tea" came from a Chinese dialect :)
Yes, :) In other languages I know and studied, tea is either etmologically from tea ( té in Spanish, Tee in German), or chá (in Portuguese, чай [chai] in Russian). One exception is herbata in Polish. Interesting how words are borrowed from peoples.
You have to learn this stuff if you want to think in Chinese.
I'm like mandarin and my study along 23 year
Haha that's great!
ILove your explaining and as a "dunce" beginner i try to follow your writing of the characters but i eventually got fustrated and watched instead..👉Its too fast... by the time i look down and finish one stroke you are done😔. Please i am not being ungreatful for these free lessons .I'll still try.Thank you🙏

Don't worry, we're creating more Hanzi writing videos. Will be uploaded soon.
Think "radicals" as building blocks with hints of meaning. For example: 木 means wood, 林 is woods and 森 is forest。
Where do I buy a pen like this? haha
