I thought this was excellent. You combine the technical explanations with associated stories and visual cues overlaid with personality which motivates me to learn more. Thank you.
This is amazing! I love the associations and how the characters came to be. I started learning chinese 9 months ago (100% due to covid lockdowns) ( and at the time decided I only wanted to learn pinyin) and now I've come to realize learning the characters improves my retention and makes it easier to understand what people are saying on tv with chinese subtitles. My only complaint is I'll have to watch this video again slower, maybe at 3/4 speed, but that is so easy on youtube to slow down. Going to go find everything you've done now cause you are awesome.
Thank you for the sweet words! I am so glad you like this character-explaining content. For more related videos, you can check out my playlist 'learn Chinese Characters with me'. I like your explanation on how radicals form a Chinese character and how to recognise a radical. Please make more videos like this. I learn to read and write Chinese character better with your teaching videos. Very clever and effective way to teach and everyone must learn from your videos.😃
I mostly love this content. If it works for people, then it probably doesn't matter, but ... I do wish that, for example, with 织 where 只 seems to be there purely as a sound component, but gets turned into a ball of yarn, that it would be mentioned why 只 is actually there. At least for me, the more I started to understand the ways in which characters are commonly constructed, the easier it became to recognize them (especially their sounds). Your video does a great job of explaining the radicals, such as silk, eye, etc. You'd probably do a great job at explaining the other components as well!
Remember Chinese character must repeatedly write and recite. And also learn character intertwined each other. Eg use small sticks arrange 人→大,天,太,入,儿,八。大→add 部首 change to 头,买卖,火灭灾,炎热,淡,谈
I think we could usefully compare character determinants 片旁 with accent marks; but instead of slightly changing the pronunciation 片旁 change the meaning. so in fang 方放 one is the noun the other is the verb, right? my favorite is the qing series 请情青清 clear pure water clear pure air clear pure feelings clear pure words and they all sound alike.
You are so good at doing this!! I live in china and m learning chinese but they never explain this ! Although it makes lots of sense and facilitates learning and memorizing! Could u pls make more videos of such content 😃 thanks 🙏
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful. th-cam.com/play/PLG-32j3GMb0kiUHldPk1rsy0JzM-Brpcm.html all the characters videos are in this playlist, will continue uploading :D
价 = price You pronounce it as "press". The traditional character is better. 價. It has the glyph 貝 = seashell/money. Seashells were used as money. It is even in English, "to shell out" = to spend money. 價格 = giá cả (Vietnamese) = price.
the right half of yanjing de yan is a person stopped and looking back and down as they stumbled into something thus root, but also stop, stare, stubborn are the ideas associated with that guy with god's eyeball walking about! :) love your channel!
I’ve spent about 100,000 hours studying English humor and Western culture. My native language is Chinese. I’m teaching Chinese language in jokes and pictures. It makes learning Chinese funny and much easier. Laughter can help us reduce tensions.
I can't memorize chinese characters so I seached on TH-cam how to memorize chinese characters. And I saw this video. After watching this vd, I know 15 characters easily. Thank you for creating this video.
this video just gain my subscribe push... need this.. learning mandarin now.. and difficult to remember characters.. i keep forgetting them... also, what is another good way to remember them? is constantly writing the characters over and over effective?
Welcome! Hope this channel can help you with your characters learning! Writing helps enhance memory for sure. when we were in primary schools in China, we wrote each one for hundreds of time :D. And you need to pronounce it and think about the meaning as you write.
@@YiQiHanzi 谢谢...这tip很好。will help me with my studies... i'm currently a student and need a study plan (how to go about it) need to learn the language as best and fast as i can to live properly and attend class... any other tips you can share 大姐?
Thanks for the lesson. It was great. Maybe it helps with the learning process, but I just can't help to point out that at no point in history did the ancient Chinese take on their mother's surname. Also, bride kidnapping was never part of Chinese culture. Arranged marriages were.
I have noticed that the diacritical over the vowels are vowel quality, the zh sounds /ch/ and also the qi /ch/ in Pinyin, still hard to learn, harder than Japanese. I have list of Chinese radicals and their pronunciation but some of them doesn't sound the way you pronounce them as in my dictionary.
Is it possible to create new characters? And how would you know how to pronounce it? If you add or subtract 1 o 2 strokes to a known character, would you know how to pronounce it? How? Do strokes give you a clue about the whole pronunciation?
Here is the part 2 for more radicals & characters: th-cam.com/video/cZQpi-_3Gcw/w-d-xo.html
😀
2nd in a TH-camr comment!!!!

I'm Vietnamese and I'm learning Chinese because Chinese is the root of Vietnamese.
I have to correct you.
住 = trụ (Vietnamese) = to live at. 亻is the meaning component.
The 主 = chủ = ruler, is the phonetic component.

How can you see the character and read them out loud? Just by remember?
Yes, by remembering the pinyin of the character.
Thanks for the lesson. It was great. Maybe it helps with the learning process, but I just can't help to point out that at no point in history did the ancient Chinese take on their mother's surname. Also, bride kidnapping was never part of Chinese culture. Arranged marriages were.

目 refer to eye. 眼, using 目modify to change words 眇,,盯,相(信),看,盲目,泪水,above related to eye. Non related are 息compose of 目′心。首☞䒑′目。沮☞氵且.且similar to 目一
