    Hi David! Looks like it will be a bit more challenging than you had hoped. Oh well, welcome to my world. Such is the nature of many projects I take on. Stumps are notoriously stubborn. Looking forward to seeing you tackle it again next time!

      Hey Martin! Yeah I knew it was going to be tight, but the ground slopes and dips made it even more challenging. Patience pays off though! ;) Have a great week, my friend!

    We spent the afternoon digging stumps and scrub brush with the old backhoe for my daughters little building at the lake. My equipment was as new as yours is about46 or 47 years ago David !! LOL. yeah me and my tractor have a lot in common….both of us are well worn and old !
    Ya done good my friend !! You know your way around that Kubota !! Keep up the good work David. Sounds like you’re back in the saddle pretty good now.

      Hey Wendell! I really should have gotten a backhoe when I bought the tractor, but I didn't think I'd need it very much. I still don't think I need one but areas like this make me wish I did have one. I may rent a mini-ex this year or next to do some work in the "pond". That should be fun! Thanks for watching, my friend! :)

      @@PaleHorseOutdoors When I was young I used to think I didn't need a wife, but then I found out over the years how beneficial one of them was. So what I'm saying is have a back hoe for the tractor is kinda like having a good wife. They are both very nice accessory packages..... priceless in their utility too. LOL
      Ok, now I might now have to block the wife from seeing your channel....just for my own personal protection. LOL

    Great work with the stump bucket and you appeared to be making good progress. That attachment looks like it is hard on the tractor

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Joseph, thanks for watching! It can be really hard on the tractor if you go in and push with the bucket too steep so you do need to take it as easy as possible. Cheers!

      Thank you, Dave I appreciate that! I almost didn't get a tractor for the property and that would have been a HUGE mistake. I was able to get the property cleaned up and usable in just a few weeks. Knowing what I know now, that would have taken years without one - especially if I didn't have the grapple either. Man that thing is a back and time saver! :)

    Good afternoon my friend, you are working in a tight area. You need to dig a lot around stumps before popping them out so I can understand that it's a bit of a challenge when you can't get access from all angles. That bucket would be good for small ditches and or trenches. Have a great day!

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly right, Paul. Normally I would dig all the way around the stump and further away from it to loosen it all up. That first pass was all uphill and visibility was really difficult. It does take a lot of patience! Thanks for watching, buddy! :)

    Stump buckets works nice for you out in the coastal rainforest of WA or OR. Here where I live in NW MT most of our trees are 20+ inches across, so an excavator is more practical. BUT I did get a forestry winch lately for my tractor. So I'm gonna use it for logging the property and take out the old growth trees that are at end of life.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which winch did you get? I've been looking at getting a small one to help out with a few things using my little log trailer. Thanks for watching!

    Stumps are a hard thing to get rid of. I tried to pull a 3" stump by breaking the root with my pallet forks using just one fork on it then pulling with a strap and the tractor. you wouldn't think a little stump would be so hard but it took me about an hour to work it out. That stump bucket you have would have made that so much easier. Good luck on finishing the trail! I look forward to seeing it done!

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah even the little ones can be stubborn. Before I got the bucket, I dug them with a shovel and cut the tap root with my old Dewalt 12' chainsaw (that I use just for that). The bucket does make it easier but the tradeoff is a crater around the area where the root ball was. Thanks for watching, buddy! :)
