      Hey Paul, thank you very much! Funny thing is that I didn't think I'd use it much after initially cutting the trails. But I use it all the time now. It's a great implement, I just wish you could take off the tines assembly and put on a blade. Seems that would be a good way to take better advantage the main structure. Thanks again, my friend!

    What a fun idea for the path. Our walking paths on the farm were mostly created by the cattle going various ways out to pasture. They were hard packed as can be after thousands of hoof poundings were endured over the course of decades. Of course there were the typical smelly droppings you had to dodge while walking, but you know, that's just part of farm life. Awesome job David, I like it a lot.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Wendell! These trails are great for walking around, but just as much a necessity for getting the tractor all around the land without messing it up too much and keeping safe on those hills. At my age, I don't want to wait for nature to make those trails look this way so the modified rake does the job! :) Thanks for watching, my friend!

  • @gatorsworld
    @gatorsworld 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The landscape rake does a good job in the soft stuff, almost works like a thatcher in the grass and if one runs it many times it cultivates the grass.....would be nice to have a hoper on each side dumping gravel at a controlled amount like a seed drill.....would be perfect for the trails.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Gator. Those are some great ideas. One pass on the thick grass does do a good job at thatching. I don't know if I'd use it that way on the main lawn, but in the meadow it works really well. I did that a few weeks ago before putting out new grass seed and wild flower seed. Thanks for watching, my friend! :)

    Hey David nice job! I have been looking at B2601 and just realized that’s the model you have.🤦🏼‍♂️ Have you heard of anyone that has a belly mower on this tractor? Great vid👍🏻👍🏻

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Todd, thanks buddy! Oh man, the B2601 is perfect for my land and the way I use it. I wouldn't go smaller or bigger for what I do out here. Yeah, lots of people in fact. I personally wouldn't use a belly mower on this tractor because it's too big to get into tight spaces on the regular lawn. I bought a Cub Cadet for finish mowing and a brush hog for the meadows. Thanks for watching, man! And check out my B2601 group on Facebook - LOT's of B2601 users in the group. facebook.com/groups/kubotabseries

      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Justin! Thanks buddy. I was concerned at first that the gokart would tear up the grass part, but he rode on them for a few months last season and it actually helped groom them. Thanks for watching, man!

  • @thegreatnorthwoodswithbb2863
    @thegreatnorthwoodswithbb2863 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Just curious Dave aren't you concerned with water being trapped in them ruts making it muddy.. just wondering why nice grassy areas for trails wouldn't leave it be

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey BB. Not at all. This is our second season with these trails and they only get too muddy to use in the areas that flood anyway. Besides, we love them like this. Grass trails won't hold up with all the tractor, gokart and UTV use anyway. They rut up naturally. This way, I'm getting what my wife and I want right off the bat. I'm too old to wait. LOL

    Evening David, great video and some really nice drone shots too. 👍 What drone did you end up getting? Looks like all the trails are turning out real nice. The landscape rake seems like it does a decent job. I haven't been able to get out much this past week and weekend been fighting a cold. Hope you are doing well. Take care buddy. ✌

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, Kyle! Thanks bud. I got the DJI Mini 2 at BHPhoto (half-price used) and it's a great little drone. It doesn't have obstacle avoidance and follow mode, but it has a nice 4K picture. I really like the rake. I wish it had some of the more advanced features that other rakes have, but it's a good implement to have for sure. I'm sorry you've been under the weather and I hope you have a good week. You take care of yourself, Kyle!

    The ground here in Iowa is getting stupidly expensive. Just had a farm 5 miles north of me sell off 100 acres of really steep, rough ground. Some of it so steep you could tip a drag over. It sold for $11,000 / acre, or 1.1 million dollars.
    Had another farm south of me that sold some land and got $17,000 / acre. Much better ground that the 1st on e I mentioned, but not anywhere near worth the $17,000 per acre. We may be heading right back into the very late 70's and early 80's of agriculture.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow that's crazy. Land prices for around 5 acres just outside of town have doubled since we've bought out here. I don't know how young people are going to be able to every buy property. Thanks for watching, Gary! I really appreciate it!

    Looking good David.. the rake really does a great job of creating the old horse cart trails. I noticed on a sharp turn, the inside tines seemed to cross over the centerline, but managed not to cause too much damage.. great video. Is that a rainwater catch tank, near your fire pit?

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David, Yeah that swinging action is why you don't want to make too many passes in the curves at first because it will scrape the center too much. I learned this first time I did it this way that you're not going to cut these completely in one time. I only show a few minutes in the videos, but I actually work on these for several days cutting, rolling them out, cutting again in the problem areas, rolling them out some more, letting the weather do it's thing, more grooming, etc. It's fun though and gives me more tractor time.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors

      These are roads for my tractor basically. And a circuit for my son to race his kart and trails for my family to walk down to the campsites in the forest. And they remind me of the old farm roads that I grew up with in the south. Riding over the same spot for years does the same thing. I'm just speeding up the process.
