I stay in Cape Town... we drive the 2 hours to Hermanus every year. . To walk around gearing point. The same trail as you... We normally take picnic baskets... we cant really afford that extremely expensive restaurants... but it's a great place to visit every year... Hermanus is simply spectacular.
Can you easily spot whales from the trail? The boat tours are expensive

Yeah ! I am following that since long time.. Brothers in Blood! While I was in Kruger I was told that now the new generation has started doing the same.. Sabi Sands are right next to the Kruger National park !
How was the weather?
Very pleasant ! .. hot & sunny during the day but very nice during evenings & mornings ! Though South Africa is not that small.. weather is quite different from one corner to another !
