    I don’t understand why people make videos claiming how a certain model “isn’t worth it” over another. If you can afford the model you want that offers more performance, then by all means get it and enjoy it. These are people who can’t afford it and is looking for an excuse as to why they don’t need one or just cheap and don’t want to spend the money

    • @thedesertroad
      @thedesertroad  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! I can't speak to everyone but to a car fanatic / enthusiast like myself each vehicle purchase and decision is a tradeoff of infinite pros and cons - of everything you are 'gaining' by buying this car, and everything you are simultaneously 'giving up'. Sometimes it's a matter of striking the balance between owning 2 cars instead of 1, or 3 vs 2 or whatever. Each car fulfills a certain roll that's why it's easy to instantly group it into a category, try to figure out what 'niche' that car fills -- and whether or not that car delivers on the promise. As we are all limited to available funds up to a certain point, it is important to budget accordingly and decide (and help fellow enthusiasts) what to spend their hard earned money on. but other than that, Nothing so far. 🙏
      I do want to recommend some enhancements if I may (you may already know this):
      go with ROYAL PURPLE Oil for your oil changes; I most definitely felt the drastic difference, it’s smoother ride, less rough between gears.
      Akebono Brakes: changed my rear brake pads recently and went with Akebono, you’ll notice a big difference with brake dust. Very minimal compared to EOM brakes.

    Those dislikes are completely dumb:
    1.- if it is too expensive then get something cheaper.
    2.- twin turbo V8 with over 500hp with bad mpg??? You already knew this when you got it.
    3.-if you buy a 100k+ USD vehicle you will have to pay for a 100k+ USD vehicle parts, you didn’t know that performance 22 inch tires which are super wide were expensive?
    I had an X6 M 2018 and THAT was a compromised rear seat, felt smaller than my macan turbo rear seat. I have a current x5 40i and rear seats are just fine.

    • @thedesertroad
      @thedesertroad  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's one of tightest backseats in the class, particularly because they gave much room in the trunk. It's evident by the rear legroom -- vs some other cars in this class. The rear facing child seats were very tight in here for us -- much more so then in my previous Lincoln Aviator or current RS6. Many times this has to do with how much space there is up front as well (giving backseat more/less room). Thanks for stopping by!

    I feel like the only family oriented performance mid sized SUV for North Americans is probably the SQ7. Standard 7 seater although the 3rd row is a bit too small to fit 2 people. Leg room is much more spacious in the 2nd row. For me BMW will always be a performance vehicle whether it's the sedans or SUVs. I don't know where the Benz land these days, I test drove the GLC 43 and GLE 53, feels like Mercedes has an identity crisis. The AMG tuned glc and gles are comfortable as always but steering does not feel smooth, certainly not as smooth as the X3 m40i or the X5 m50i, and taking a right turn (with designated / guided right turn lane) in the Benz feels awkward like the weight was being throwed around. In the m-tuned bimmers, they feel much smoother and lighter. Going to try the SQ7 next week as wife and I want a more family oriented car so if we do decide to go with it, we will trade in the x5 m50i.
