I saw this show twice BECAUSE of her. We used to visit the city when I was young a couple times of year. When I was 13 I met her and she was the tiniest sweetest person ever. My friends were so annoyed over how obsessed with her I was at that age. Also got to see her with Megan the second time and she also blew me away. I truly have never seen a video of anyone else embodying her the way Sho does. I was so angry when the soundtrack wasn’t her as a kid I couldn’t even listen to it😂 and I do think Idina is incredible. To me something about Sho and this specific roll just fit better
Shoshana’s run as first replacement literally solidified the show’s future as a long-running hit. She really did so much for the role and the show at large.
This comment and I have something in common: Shoshana was my Elphaba in that very same year and I have been following her and her career on and off Broadway ever since. You can hardly say that about many performers. One showing and I was sold: this woman deserves every tiny eyelash-hair of recognition and praise for her talent.

My favourite Elphaba then and now - the sassy, dark determination she brought to it. The riffs that didn't feel 'for the sake of it' - they felt like they added to the fantastical nature of Oz. I return to these videos of Sho in role often, she was spellbinding
She sounds amazing. I love her belt on the F natural of the last “defying” with her straight tone, but to be honest I love that belt with her vibrato even more. Still she killed it. How do you all feel?
She is an absolute legend. She was the first to follow-up Idina's iconic run and made the role her own vocally, and I'm especially glad about her influence on how people do the 2nd BMD today!
I just saw Wicked for the fifth time tonight. I never saw the original cast live, but have seen and heard audio and videos of it. I saw Shoshana in the role twice and, I hold my original opinion, that she brought more emotion to the role than anyone before or after her. And Megan Hilty as Glinda, was phenomenal. Perhaps it was because they felt like they had a lot to live up to, after the original cast was so highly acclaimed. The energy on that stage was electrifying. Now, it's still a good show, but it's clear that the original spark is missing. I'm a long time Broadway fan and I've seen this happen to many shows. It's sad, but excepted. I'm just so glad that I got to see Shoshana twice as Elpheba. She was amazing!!!
