well I watched an interview with the current Elphaba on broadway and she said it like yes there are some traits in some actresses that tell she is made to portray either Elphaba or Galinda.
Cynthia is so real about giving more people than ever the chance to experience this show and get to love it as much as everybody who got the chance to see the show on stage. My girlfriend didn't really know Wicked until she saw the movie, and now she's hooked! After just seeing Wicked in IMAX, I can say I completely understand why Cynthia and Ariana have been so emotional in their interviews. The stage production was not only done justice by the film, but it solidified it as a classic. The last 15 minutes of the film are breathtaking and feel like you’re on a roller coaster. Never experienced a film like this before. Incredible 👏
11:42 I love what Cynthia said because going to the theater is a luxury. And with Wicked being a movie, more people will now have access to such a beautiful story🥹

This story is so powerful and all about women supporting and lifting each other up and you can see the profound effect it’s had on all of them. We’re so lucky to have these artists in our lives and that they truly put their heart and souls into these characters.
I love that this is giving a lot of people access to the show who would not be able to see it on stage. And the movie really does feel live at points. I was clapping after songs.
I know the chances of you all seeing this is very small, but I still want to express how grateful and happy I am to see this. I have only been to one Broadway show in my entire life, and it was Wicked, with the original cast. It was life-changing. Idina, I swear that experiencing Defying Gravity in person was absolutely unlike anything else. The entire room gasped at once and collectively heals their breath. I had goosebumps running up and down my arms. I’ve never seen that before or since. So I admit that I was skeptical about the movie living up to my memory, but I was so happy to be wrong! It was absolutely perfectly cast, and once again, the magic had me on the edge of my seat. Congratulations on something very very special. ❤❤❤❤

When I watched this movie, I WAS NOT expecting the original Glinda and Elphaba of the show were a cameo in One Short Day. Both Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo really did a fantastic job on playing the respective characters. What I like about these 4 wonderful ladies is they really respect and love each other for their character and each other. What a wonderful film.
What Cynthia said about girls getting to see this show now at home and at the movies really resonated with me. I don’t know if I will ever be able to go to New York, but getting to see this movie fed my young soul
It is such an honor to see Idina and Kristin pass the broom/wand to Cynthia and Ariana. It’s so great to see their passion and love for their characters, even after having performed them 20 years ago. Wicked means so much to me and a lot of us so seeing the love and joy makes me so happy 🥹🩷💚
The amount of emotions that I felt from start to finish to this film were remarkable. I felt The Souls of these characters and that's so rare especially in this day and age. Wicked is a gift and I'm so grateful for these incredible women for giving us to us in the way that they did
It's so refreshing and humbling to see Ariana and Cynthia talk with the irreplaceable OG's. It's rare to see this kind of dialogue. Usually, the new person taking on a role already performed by somebody else just talks about how the previous performance inspired them.
These comments embracing their emotion make me so happy. Emotion is so beautiful and the passion is overflowing and EXUDES through the screen. I really cannot wait to see what these ladies do next they are all so incredible.
I just saw Wicked last night. I completely understand why they are always crying in interviews now.❤ What an absolute masterpiece. And I was never a fan of Ariana and didn't know Cynthia but wow. Listen before i didnt get why they were crying but i never mocked or anythihng. after seeing the movie. I understand why they are crying. I myself was bawling at certain points of the movie. I think they had to explore certain parts of themselves and be truly vulnerable as humans and i think this film healed something in them and as a viewer ngl I think it healed something my inner child needed
All of this video speaks to my soul as a theater kid, like the “recasting” each person in a different role, the crying, the hand-holding, the “I hate my songs yours are better”- this is why I am an actor
The cameo I didn't know I needed! Lucky enough to have seen it live in theatres twice in Australia, and listen to the original cast album at least once a month. My favourite part of the film!
It's sweet how they're all crying. It's a very relatable dream, and to experience such a rare thing actually coming true would be at least a little overwhelming. This is an experience of a lifetime, perhaps even a life defining experience of which to be a part, a part that very few are chosen to play! It's nice to see how much it means to them and to know it's more than just a financial endeavor to them. This movie felt like watching many people's life's work take shape. It's more than a movie, it's an event.
I was glad they had cameos but how good the cameos are is incredible they steal the scene for a few minutes. Best film I’ve seen this year by a long way. They build each song so well peaking each but with defying gravity they start higher than the rest and build it even better incredible talent on display
Wicked was a showchoir/theatre/choir pop cultural movement in my high school years, it's so emotional, the story is so important and moving---anyone who doesn't get the crying sadly hasn't had the magic, and i truly hope one day it will find you

Omg the tears when it began, all throughout the first scene, every baby Elfie scene, and the Ozdust Ball scene
What parts are ppl really crying over?? The only part that got me semi emotional was which she danced with the witch at the party 'Dancing Through Life'
@crazy4corbinbleux I cried then but I also cried in the beginning when the munchins had Glinda burn Elphaba's effigy. I couldn't fathom how difficult that must have been for the character.
this is HUGE to have the original cast approval, it is inhuman not to cry.
Yes, thank you Cynthia! 11:11 - this is so true. Going to the theater is an experience we don’t all have, whether it’s because we have financial issues or multiple children or disabilities, we just don’t get there like we want. So this?! This is the only way some will experience what people have been talking about for over 20 years!
That's totally what I always think when movies based on Broadway make their way to the big screen. My first broadway movie I seen was Phantom of the Opera. Yeah it had its cons. But it was amazing throughout the singing and music
Before Kristin and Idina showed up, the movie was already a solid 9/10 for me so when they popped up it was 15/10 NO MORE NOTES, the cast was PERFECT!
I knew the movie would be good. But not super amazing
idky but having their stamp of approval was so important to me so hearing everything they've said about this film and being so involved has made it 10x better
i think it takes artists who are knee deep passionate about their work to understand why they're always in tears talking about this. it's a surreal moment when you see your efforts and emotional investment pays off
2 of my greatest Broadway stars
A girly pop who defined my childhood
And a beautiful queen from the color purple
I have truly been changed for good
yes i may get those tats
I got to see Idina as Elphaba several times and I remember I was sobbing during the show, same thing happened during the movie. The full body chills, the rising happiness that spills over into tears. My favorite song is “No Good Deed”, I cannot wait to see it. Just wonderful show and movie 💚🩷
These mothers are incredible. It’s so special to have this interview of them all. Thank you 🫶🏻😭
I was teary-eyed for a bit, and then saw Ariana pulling a tissue from her chest at 9:53. 😂
So glad someone sawthis too!!!😂
They took the original, did a tribute, and added a personal note to it to make it a masterpiece.
i'm so emotional watching all four of them shower each other with affirmation, compliments, encouragement. Women empowering women. 💚
5:30 Ariana's whispered "I love you" to Kristin was so cute. They're both incredible
i caught that too...... it warmed my heart.
that felt so weird random and fake. liek do these people not know how to interact with humans?
@@ThePurpleCheesecakeZebra they've been close friends for 20 years, and now they're doing a press tour together for ariana's dream role. i do not doubt at all that this was real
@@ThePurpleCheesecakeZebraI felt the same way! Like she saw Idina and Cynthia having a moment, so she wanted her own with Kristin. Not saying it’s a bad thing, but it did feel fake.
ari and cynthia fully sold me as the characters of elphaba and glinda! they were perfect and seeing idina and kristen’s cameo made me CRYY
I love that in the history of Elphabas and Glindas, they all have somewhat similar personalities. Like, Idina and Cynthia talks a bit reserved and their voices a little lower, while Ariana and Kristin are so sweet and bubbly haha
i mean elphaba is supposed to be a mezzo soprano role and glinda a high soprano so it makes sense ehe
well I watched an interview with the current Elphaba on broadway and she said it like yes there are some traits in some actresses that tell she is made to portray either Elphaba or Galinda.
this is so emblematic, the four together... this movie is indeed needed in these times we're living... amazing video!
I always try to seek out stories on screen with a little bit of resonance.
Cynthia is so real about giving more people than ever the chance to experience this show and get to love it as much as everybody who got the chance to see the show on stage. My girlfriend didn't really know Wicked until she saw the movie, and now she's hooked! She told me that Cynthia's portrayal of Elphaba helped her understand that girls like herself who got bullied or were outsiders, still can grow up to become strong women that don't need to hide because they're "different". It's the difference that makes them special and unique.
Can we talk about how beautiful Cynthia’s talking voice is? She has a gifted reading voice. I could listen to her read any book and feel so soothed.
I love how Ariana is crying in like every interview haha, you can tell how much this movie and musical has meant to them all
Omg they are all tearing up 0:30 seconds in. This is so adorable.
This is such a special moment 🥹 no wonder why they’re crying ❤️🩹
I hate people for making fun of them for crying when they were probably in so much pressure and it turned out so well! This is the best outcome possible and there's so much love from everyone so yeah, I'd cry too!
I live in Italy so I’ve never been able to see the stage adaptation. And the fact that I now have the opportunity to see this after years of wishing made me teary eyed
I had never had the privilege of seeing Wicked the play, but I just saw Wicked the movie, I was blown away! I absolutely loved it, it was beyond wonderful! These women are so talented!! As is Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero and everyone else in the film.
I just love that Idina and Kristin aren’t the egotistical Divas that society sometimes expects out of women. They were so supportive and excited about Cynthia and Ariana, and vice versa. That’s how it should be. Talent is talent 💚💖
The voice of Cynthia, singing or not is absolutely wonderful.
i love how they’re just holding each other the whole time, showering each other with compliments and respect and love, it’s so beautiful watching them all just love what they were a part of and who they worked with
After just seeing Wicked in IMAX, I can say I completely understand why Cynthia and Ariana have been so emotional in their interviews.
I absolutely love seeing the bonds and love these women share across generations and across productions.
Me too
🥹 CYNTHIA!!! Your performance in this movie is life inspiring & life changing!!! I ugly cried in the theater, FOR REAL! VERY EMOTIONAL!!! ❤️🥹😭💐👏🏻
The Glinda’s are so sweet and cute and the Elphaba’s are so funny and hot lmao amazing casting.
Best interview ever
I was sad that Idina & Kristin didn’t cast for the film but that cameo in one short day i cried after seeing them💚💖
I love how Cynthia & Ari pulled it off. But don’t we all wish it was Idina & Kristin?
@manuelorozco7760 yes but its ok now, they are passing the torch..atleast they involve in the film makes me happy
@@hridoyrahman4553 Same here with me!
💖💖💖💖
I freaking can’t wait for Thank Goodness 😢
ME TOO
I can’t wait but also Idk if I will survive it 😢
@@mimiisrofl”I couldn’t be happier, TRUE DEAR”😭😭😭
I love the sisterhood between these ladies❤ Cynthia and Ariana are definitely continuing the amazing legacy that Idina and Kristin that started 💖💚 My Fav film of 2024!!!
After watching the movie i can no longer make fun of them crying. I am crying all day today when i see them now
It was my very first experience with a broadway musical . I love it since . These women are AMAZING 🩷💚
What a wonderful film.
the little "i love you, too" ariana whispers to kristin i'm SOBBING. god there's so much passion and love in this movie it's spellbinding
I come back and keep watching this interview because they all are so remarkable and hold such a big light in this world, forever wicked🫧💘
The fact that Idina is sitting beside Cynthia and Kirstin is sitting beside Ariana 🤧
CYNTHIA, CYNTHIA, CYNTHIA!!!!!!
She’s soo genuine, and this pairing with Idina Menzel, ugh!!! 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌👌
I need more of this interview! 12:56 is not enough!! 💚🩷💚
Seeing them together on screen again and with the new Elphaba and Glinda was such an incredible passing the torch moment
They’re expressing the emotions that all of us Wicked fans who have loved this show for years feel.
I just saw Wicked last night. I completely understand why they are always crying in interviews now.❤ What an absolute masterpiece. And I was never a fan of Ariana and didn't know Cynthia but wow. They put their heart and souls into this movie. This is a movie that will be appreciated for YEARS to come!
2:17 Thats my favorite part of the different Elphabas, is tjat they all have different vibes. No Defying Gravity is a copy of another and its fantastic.
Do you know how happy it makes me to see all 4 of them together, I love it
The cameo I didn't know I needed!
I love this more than any other film this year tied with Transformers One
am I the only one who sobbed this entire interview!! It spoke so much volume and I can feel the love and chemistry. PROTECT THESE WOMEN AT ALL COSTS!
Wicked was a showchoir/theatre/choir pop cultural movement in my high school years, it's so emotional, the story is so important and moving---anyone who doesn't get the crying sadly hasn't had the magic, and i truly hope one day it will find you
I’ve been a Wicked fan since middle school myself.
getting tears in my eyes watching this cause they really did an amazing job, i haven’t even got a chance to see the whole movie but i’ve been OBSESSED!!
Thank you Idina for relieving the tension in the room with humor
I was in such tears. The boundaries and equality that these woman had to overcome was so powerful. The heteronormativity discrimination that accord. I’m still emotional.
I could hear these women speak all day! They are so soft spoken but are very intent and mindful w their words. You can tell they care so much about their work and the work each other is doing and being present for one another and supportive and it’s just beautiful to see it. They’re so delicate w one another and I hope their friendships last a lifetime together!
Saw it Thursday and definitely found myself crying. It surpassed my expectations and the cameos had me jumping out of my seat with excitement.
Idina is breathtakingly beautiful. Kristin hasnt aged a day.
This is so beautiful honestly. I have just finished watching the film and i have a bit of wicked hangover. Also shrieked and cried when i saw kristin and idina cameo.
Adele Dazeem is so sweet & respectful 🥹
LMAOO
The Wickedly talented 🥹
