I’ve never heard someone sing DG this clear and pitch perfect. She glides over those high notes with such ease and precision it’s like she has built-in autotune. What a gift.
@@joshgutierrez7380 Even if she did, be respectful. I’m also here to tell you she very well did not miss a single note. My ears are always open if you want to show the Wicked fans how it’s done.
The thing I love about Jessica's show is... regardless of what the character is going through, you can always feel the passion and joy that Jessica has for what she's doing.
From 2:50 to 3:01 was just amazing I had to listen to it like a dozen times. The who song was amazing but the way she glides over those notes was incredible
This is probably the closest capture I’ve ever seen to what the preflight/takeoff section looks like in person. You can clearly see her getting in the lift too!
@@Scandisk10 I hope to make it up there soon to see Talia on Bway. I saw her in Dallas when the tour reopened last August (only time I've ever attempted to film lol). And have tix for Feb in Orlando and getting some for Tampa and the rest of the Florida slate since I live out here.
I got the chance to see Jessica in Wicked a few years ago in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was an absolute blast! And something I like to tell people, Jessica is in the new Amazon series "Hazbin Hotel", voicing the character Lute. Her voice was very noticeable the second she sang. Lol!
That entire cast was genuinely a Musical dream for me - Jessica Vosk - Erica Henningsen as Charlie (I knew her from Mean Girls) - Christian Borle as Vox (Legally Blonde the musical) - Alex Brightman as Adam and Sir Pentious (Beetlejuice the musical) - The legend himself, Jeremy Jordan as Lucifer (from Newsies) - Stephanie Beatriz as Vaggie (literally Mirabel from Encanto lmao) - Keith David as Husker (literally Dr Facilier from Princess and the Frog) - Kimiko Glenn as Nifty (I know her from Waitress and Centaurworld) Moral of the story: I'm on the floor.
This vocal is really sparkling and flawless. I could listen to her sing the phone book 🤩 with that said, I don’t think idina menzel gets enough credit for the raw emotion that she infused into this role. Idina perfected the way Elphaba’s power almost scared her own self. She really created the foundation so others could soar with the role ❤
the way she comes down from 6:10 and she does it again at 6:41, idk if you'd call that an intentional Break in her voice or what the proper name for it is but omfg i Live for it
Like many of us, I went into the movie prepared for it to suck. But it didn’t. I was impressed and moved! And CE REALLY delivered. Charismatic, nuanced, tasty choices throughout. I thought she was a great choice for the film. Her DG was such a pleasant surprise too! But JV… there’s just nothing like it. She managed to channel Margaret Hamilton in her mannerisms, her timbre, and her vocal inflections (“FLY”). That paired with her exemplary musicianship just puts her miles above everyone else (pun Hundo p intended). I mean, to be super fangurl about it, how lucky are we to live in this time of fantastic Elphabas who couldn’t be more different?!
She brings a really strong emotional element with her beautiful vocals, which is a special respect y. They both do it really well. Parts of her chorus aren't my favorite musicals, but, for the impact they are so strong

my first and only Elphaba! I saw her on tour in Wicked in Boston. She gave me CHILLS! Who was the Glinda in this performance? (was it on Broadway?) My Glinda is Ginna Claire Mason! :)
Jessica Vosk has more of a mix belt which suits the song better than a cry-chest heavy belt like Idina does. Vosk is really in touch with her head voice here which is why it sounds so gentle, yet piercing. It gives her a certain agility that forced chest doesn't

THE most vocally talented Elphie ever to wear the hat, period.
her "deserves" is nuts
Absolutely 100% agree
Her flip into head voice for "I'd sooner buy" is so pretty
She is THE BEST! I love the way that she sings
I generally don't like to hear the glottal sound in the chest --> head flip, but something about the way she does it is so captivating. I'm obsessed.
I’ve always been obsessed with this specific thing about her and I’m so glad other people are 😭😭.
2:45 YES ITS SO NICE
Listen like lemonade on a sunny day lol
I don’t think I have ever heard this song sang this PRECISELY

So sad. There was another video of JV doing her last Defying Gravity and it was a really clear audio recording. I think it got taken down tho

Look at the western sky
As someone told me lately:
“Everyone deserves the chance to fly”
And if I’m flying solo
At least I’m flying free
To those who’d ground me
Take a message back from me
Tell them how I am defying gravity
I’m flying high defying gravity
And soon I’ll match them in renown
And nobody in all of OZ
No wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down
Bring me down
Ahhhh

Her version reminds me so much of Idina’s but with her own twist and I’m loving it!
1:25 - Defying Gravity
Does anyone have the final video from her on broadway. It used to be on here but it was taken down or made private and it was my favorite version.
I have the full video, and also there is the flying portion that was recently uploaded!
