You lost kite a lot by not taking the plate and matching TP and you may not be able to push a double wave (in this case you could), but even if that's the case I think is just better to let it crash into your tower, so the enemy loses 2 full waves, no matter if you lose 1 when you back. I would LOVE to see how something like this could be implemented in the bot lane, as it seems very useful for solo lane play but maybe not as apparent on how to use this for bot lane
In the bot lane you just pressure the enemy bot lane under their tower. While you are hitting their heads, the enemy adc will focus on not being hit, eventually loosing cs and not being able to respond your trade. Hold this position for as long as possible till he stays so underfarm that he cant trade anymore or till a dive is possible
Sometimes the enemy ADC will recognise that they cannot stay, and so must recall. In those situations, the support can actually hold the wave outside their tower range, but it’s up to us to deny that play and make sure the wave crashes. Then we can recall to match their recall. If the low-health ADC chooses to stay under tower, we can look to harass or dive with JG, or dive with tank support (maybe even trade one-for-one so ADC loses wave and xp) Sometimes you may be versing an APC/ADC with TP so they can just TP back, but at least it will be on CD
I actually do this often as Galio and I described it as "Holding laner hostage" Because even if they try to base by tier 2 I would walk around raptors wall and throw a Q from the bush. Cos even if I lost a CS or two that's another 8 Seconds minimum they're out of XP range. Then if they finally do r ecall I crash a wave and they lose all the XP for it and I maintain momentum in a superior item/XP lead allowing me to repeat this. especially if they took anything except teleport.
Well seems that I was right all along lmao This is how I usually play with Seraphine Midlane whenever I have q slight advantage. I usually can't find opening to be dangerous due to the low amount of damage and the high cost of mana of my spells before my first recall, so I am more the safer player. But when an enemy is too confident, or I hit them lots, or punish their small mistakes too much, I usually keep their bad position since around lvl 5 I can control the lane however I want. So I keep my enemy as long as I can/want, and when I feel I will no longer be able to do that, I use all my strength to crash and back, losing barely a minion or two, when I'll make them lose way more. Funny it can work as Seraphine in Midlane in almost any matchups... well technically it can work against anyone, but depending on the champion and player, the amount of mistakes they will have to do can vary (It is not the same for a Yasuo, a Fizz or a Twisted Fate)
@@LOSTKFC sadly ye, in early game it's not a talon or a Lux. However, her potential is still not to underestimate, which is why she's better ranked and better played in APC than support (and better played in Midlane imo but that's another thing) She has an extremely weak early, but she's terrifying later to the point her biggest weaknesses in late game is when she's walking from the base to her team
personally I main supp and maybe adc, both of which are not roles I want to play in low elo. Typically I climb the early season low elo games with mid (which I am not good at, but I win or go even at worse), and this trick is what I do regularly to get a lead, so I would say it works. In most games the enemy jungler is forced to camp you or have a significantly weakened mid laner, the only issue I have with this is that if they camp you and your other lanes still hard feeds, its going to be tough to carry regardless.
16:56 ye rn in soloq mid lane is ganked probably twice as often as botlane, it's very bizzare playing mid lately (i'm playing mostly in high silver to high gold games)
I learned this technique way before Freon Curtis he used this technique on ekko mid and galio but I didn’t know what to do with the lead now I see the reason why you smother the enemy laner thx
More or less acquired but nice to read it. Kind of sad the exemple at 3:50 is so terrible though. I really would like to see how you turn to irelia to kill her, with no mana, in the middle of a cs wave, whitch will heal her for halth her HP while stacking her passive, so she can just AA Gragas to death.
faker probably has 1-2 mana biscuits, they give you mana over 5 seconds from your MISSING mana. So he would use them when irelia engages. His Q and ult would be enough, it's way too big of a risk for irelia to try this. If she tries and dies she's even further behind than she already is
@@Muftaay the situation Faker is is slightly different anyway, and he perfetly outplay his opponents spacing with a Q that can't be dodged by irelia even with her Q
if irelia goes in there she dies for sure lmao, and yes obviously you can make the enemy lose a wave if you are full health full mana and they aren't. This entire strategy is obvious, it only works if you are ahead in the first place.
Don't lose trades so bad you get smothered that's the best one. Next beg your jg or support to gank. Next leave lane and gank with your jg or invade with him
I have an example of how this is very effective... I was dominating my lane in mid so rotated to gank bot lane... enemy jungler, warwick counter ganked.. he then spend the next 3 minutes stalking me and preventing my recall even fainting his own death to do so... we picked up 3 kills in the process for 1 death... but in that time my mid lane opponent not only caught up, but was back in line with items ready for objectives to spawn, while I was eventually running to the objective from fountain... we did win the game in the end, but my rotate that ended in a 3:1 trade off and snowball bot lane almost threw the entire game... the problem with LoL is the majority of players cannot comprehend how killing an enemy can be the trigger to why you lose the game... they think being 7-0-7 counts for anything while both side lane inhibitors are under seige. It's insanity lol
The best video i have ever encounter, big big thank you for this, you did a hell great job. I'm currently struggling climbing in gold, very often not able to use my advantage and carry whole team - highly frustrated being for example 8:2 with massive cs lead and not win. Sometimes you just cant carry it if you have 2 - 3 apes in team since I'm not challenger, but there is many many cases where i felt i failed to carry when i was suppose to. I'm absolutely sure this will help me a LOT. Thank you very much once again!
Thanks a lot for the video, i'm a skillcapped subscriber i mainly focus on the fundementals there i would appreciate if you can tell us what to do if my opponent is using this technique so we know what to do if you are the oppressor and the victim
So 'push wave' is now a 'secret faker technique'? I wonder if Faker also buys items after he recalls. I call it the the secret hop and shop strategy only used by showmaker. My analysis shows that people who dont use the shop are less likely to win games.
I also want to note that at 16:35, Evelynn helping the Anivia here shove the lane for a recall and relieve some of the pressure actually ruins Anivia’s experience gain and puts her behind potentially even harder because of the fact that they were splitting an entire wave of EXP. Long story short, R.I.P Anivia
Guys you cant believe me but I already invented this by myself when I was kata otp and climbed to platinum in s7, also worked with other mid champs, so I was making worth fights and rotations if needed all the time, yna dtracing enemy jg...XD
what faker does is very good for high elo , for low elo because everyone makes mistakes and have bad map awareness best technique is to roam instead of harassing ur laner
i used this technique as adc it works too.. ;) but i almost always win any lane by entering it first start preparing minions and when they come get little trade which is 99% my advantage. but i usualy dont back away when i start loosing thats probably right play always..
Veigar should've just recalled anyways, right? Siege wave and ahri push lvl 4 isn't that strong. He wouldn't have missed siege minion. Unless ahri would have freezed. So wouldn't freezing be the best option?
then what happens when you get ganked while smoldering and that jungler drop your hp alot ( if he dies or not ) then you have to recall after that for not dying on the midlaner who has more hp and he can do the smolder technique on you to push and match your recall
In order to do this effectively, you'll need to have vision set up and pay attention to where the enemies could be. Is the support missing? Have you tracked their jungler? Where's their top laner right now? etc. If you're safe, push the lane in. If you know that the enemy jungler could gank you, smother by pushing the wave in and be ready to fight / back off if you're likely going to die. Like they mentioned in the video, getting ganked is a good thing. You draw pressure away from the other lanes, and as long as you're aware and have a plan for it then you shouldn't die. The enemy jungler ends up wasting time trying to kill you, your jungler can confidently counter-jungle or gank a side lane, and your other laners can apply their own pressure since they don't need to worry about getting ganked.
@@DeathBean89 yes but there are soo many cases where smouldering is not safe to apply .. that's kinda click bait to tell people it gets you to challenger ..
@@itsdarknesstime it's not really incorrect, it pretty much always works. The only "problem" is that the prerequisite to smothering someone is that you are winning lane in the first place. So if you suck at the game and get poked out of lane constantly, you will never be able to do it anyway. And depending on matchup it might not really be possible to win the lane unless the enemy does an egregious error, like if you are playing syndra into zed or something. The zed will push you in constantly and bully you until you get items. Unless he tower dives horribly and dies
I just realized i was using the same technique at the first part of the video with akali without knowing it lol. I always double kill enemy jungle and midlanet with akali's huge lvl6 powerspike
I just have to chip in: This only works if your jungler understands his role, which in low elo, doesnt happen very often. The enemy jgl will punish you for playing like this, resulting in you dying for nothing as there wont be any counter ganks or invades happening.
I have to disagree I've been doing unranked to challenger this split. And you just need to get a deep ward in enemy jg and ping the river bush and your fine. It's funny because often the enemy jg never sees the pink or when he does I have lane prio rotate and just kill him for trying to take it. Like mentioned in video you don't really need jg
I feel like there is a lot more nuance that goes into playing around the enemy jungler than this video goes into. The number of times I've been trying to implement this kind of strategy after putting the enemy at 10% hp while I have 90% only to have the enemy jg show up and apply about 1 second of CC, which gives the pair enough time to 1 shot me before I can get any punish out is so high that I have already been searching for a new strategy. Guess I have to look at the other parts of my play to find the game losing mistakes LOL!
Ward the opposing raptor pit around 1:15 - 1:18 and monitor which side the jungler starts at. When you get vision of the jungler, play to the opposite side of the lane you saw him at. Otherwise play to the lane side you have warded to give you more reaction time. You can also control the pixel ward on that side of the jungle to give you an extra layer of protection. There's a video on this warding strat on the skillcapped yt channel
That will only work if you have no idea where the jungler is and they surprise you, also if the enemy is 10% hp. You have no excuse to even do this technique in the first place, just dive and kill them. This is only if you can't dive them, but they are too low to trade back, 10% is low enough to be dived by like any champ in the game.
Your first example is moot. People in the lower elo don’t cancel recalls to get a wave they keep trying to recall making your attempts to stop them kind of pointless
A long while later, this strategy is actually ruining me. I did most things instinctually, and some details here pushed it just far enough that now I get bumped over to Loser's Queue: I'm the one that gets beat up by the smurfs on their losing streaks. But I do JUST well enough against most of them that I cant get back out.
Today I play Ahri mid to try this... Im at Gold IV: I was playing agains a veigar mid... My team wanted to fight lvl 1 but they were poked real hard and veigar ended 2/0, I ended 1/0 and the enemy ashe ended 2/0... During lane fase I played it so that veigar didnt back to use de gold from de 2k and I got him to stand like 3 minutes with 0 mana so he didnt farm... Then I he was so low on hp but he standed at tower and I already pushed, there was a fight on drake wich I won and I pinged drake(enemy amumu was dead and veigar was like 100hp 0 mana)... No one came.... then kayn started diying 1v4 all the time. GG
Dear skill capped! Do you have strategy to up climb fast playing 2-3 times a week? I love League but don’t have much time to spend there (family, work, sports etc). I’m ready to buy it asap:) yours 38 yo fan❤
i remember doing this accidentally back when i was low diamond in season 7-8, gp was ultra broken so the lane state would often quickly lead to me spamming Q and barrels under their turret until they die or recall
if you aren't strong enough to fight the 2v1 and kill at least 1, you shouldn't be hard pushing in the first place. Unless you play a champ like zed and can W out over a wall for guaranteed safety.
I played vs an emerald 3 top layer playing yasuo. I played malphite. I made a few mistakes and he capitalized. He kept me pushed in and pinned under turret for about 5 mins. Luckily the jungle didn't gank to kill me. Fast forward 6 mins. I tp and hard pushed the wave. Rotated mid cus i saw he was low and then flash ulted to get a kill. Then made it back to top in time to catch both waves. He continued to smother me. Until I tried to 1v1 him during my next ult cd. Missed my ult and he got an advantages trade to where we were both even. So he pinned me at tower again for another 5 mins. He played the smother strategy perfect. But in the end I just had the better team fighting champ. Landed some clutch ults and we won the game. 😅
Are there any video on how to recover when on the receiving end of being smothered like this? It's happened to me a few times when I just did not know how to continue playing because the enemy laner would just keep scaling. I couldn't engage without potentially feeding, and I could not farm with out being zoned, couldn't even farm under tower without being harrassed. I imagine with a team you could get assistance from ganks or roams but in solo queue this seems like a hard shutdown.
there is only one true counterplay to this. just win in lane and apply this technique yourself. if youre the one getting shoved under tower, good luck.
Let's look at the gragas irelia concept for a minute bcs i dont understand something. When irelia got low and wanted to recall faker started pushing. If irelia recalled fully then she loses the 1 wave faker pushed. But why stay just to get some exp and get poked which can lead to a tower dive and then eventually lose 2 waves anyway. Why not just lose the 1 wave by recalling earlier then the 2 waves you will lose if you stay and then recall? Am i missing something?
For me, the biggest problem is being on the weakside in these situations. I love playing Kayle and often will sack early lane power for some scaling against champs like Garen, Shen, etc. I'm okay playing weakside and soaking pressure from the enemy jungler, but in like 90% of those games I often receive an insane amount of attention from the enemy jungler(and occasionally support and midlaner 3 man diving me) while my jungler (and the team) refuses to take drake or help my team on the other side of the map and it often leads to my team bleeding out resources, and eventually costing us the game. Even if I ask kindly. please help the other lanes, my jungler will still be 20-30 cs down without any objectives or ganks done.
Low elo is just hell. The only way to climb is getting lucky with matchmaking (or at least not have it screw you over) or being at least a Plat player. Besides, there are so many smurfs nowadays that scaling champions don't work as well anymore. They'll just get fed by abusing your Iron 3 mid laner and the game will be over by minute 10
@@florinalinmarginean1135 the necessary prerequisite to win any game is to at least win your own lane first. I hate it when they play scaling champs in low elo and don't even know how to survive lane or minimize losses during lane.
@@hi_im_dran You didn't say it, you suggested it. Your statement is broad and general. "You do not have to in anyway shape or form win your lane to climb." Seems to suggest that nobody has to ever win their lane to climb. My stance is that winning your lane consistently will yield better results in climbing and you seem to disagree on that. If you don't share my view then you must think that you don't have to win your lane most of the time or at all to climb. Sure you can climb by going even or even losing lane, but is it a more consistent method for the average player? My definition of winning lane is being up in gold on your opponent, whether that be cs, platings, kills, or assists.
7:07 I know that they are much better players than me, still hurt my eyes to see neeko reaching the wave undisguised. She lose nothing by pretending been a greedy K'Sante, at least until the wave reach the tower...
Ty so much for this technique but the problem is that with melee champ I can’t really poke like with kata I only have a to poke him under tower which is not enough so what should I do ?
You can poke with Kat under tower though W out of turret range then wait for tower to start shooting minion, then q+e+auto and e back to w safely. Or start with Q and if they walk in range of it W , E to the Q and then E back to the W. Add ignite and R and congrats your killing people under tower
Where i struggle doing this is when i play against someone like garen or champs who just have insane sustain like what am i supposed to do there when they dont give me the possibility to deny their healing
you don't do this if you don't have the capability to poke them under turret or dive them, At that point you are better off freezing and forcing them out of tower. Or building up a big wave to crash and recalling, which will keep them in lane clearing the minions while you walk back, giving you a temporary lead until they recall. then you can push

Well seems that I was right all along lmao
This is how I usually play with Seraphine Midlane whenever I have q slight advantage.
Funny it can work as Seraphine in Midlane in almost any matchups... well technically it can work against anyone, but depending on the champion and player, the amount of mistakes they will have to do can vary (It is not the same for a Yasuo, a Fizz or a Twisted Fate)
nice, amazing
Thanks for the tips I play Seraphine mid as well
sera mid, useless players
@@LOSTKFC sadly ye, in early game it's not a talon or a Lux. However, her potential is still not to underestimate, which is why she's better ranked and better played in APC than support (and better played in Midlane imo but that's another thing)
She has an extremely weak early, but she's terrifying later to the point her biggest weaknesses in late game is when she's walking from the base to her team
personally I main supp and maybe adc, both of which are not roles I want to play in low elo.
Well at low elo u can pretty much do anything u want and still win
16:56 ye rn in soloq mid lane is ganked probably twice as often as botlane, it's very bizzare playing mid lately (i'm playing mostly in high silver to high gold games)
I think i have seen this intro before…
I learned this technique way before Freon Curtis he used this technique on ekko mid and galio but I didn’t know what to do with the lead now I see the reason why you smother the enemy laner thx
If she tries and dies she's even further behind than she already is
@@Muftaayso then hes not actually low on mana and the example is just null? yes ofc if im full hp full mana i can force my opponent to lose a wave lol
I've seen this strategy on Humanoid. When I realized what he is doing I noticed that almost every pro laner does that.
This is great. How do you counter it? If you're getting smothered what's the solution?
This is so strong that it deserves another video on how to defend against the technique!
That’s precisely why I love champ like Rumble and Lux… they are immune to this past 6, because they can simply ult the wave.
7:13 i was about to say smack some dps on the enemy jungler before recalling
Thanks a lot for the video, i'm a skillcapped subscriber i mainly focus on the fundementals there
i would appreciate if you can tell us what to do if my opponent is using this technique so we know what to do if you are the oppressor and the victim
he explained multiple times to takes the loss and recall if your jungler can't/won't help
Loser mental
Isn't it better to share gold and xp rather than recall and lose both?
Yea Evelyn did a good job. Anivia needed a bail out of lane and Evelyn gave it to her.
Thanks for sharing this tecnique
Guys you cant believe me but I already invented this by myself when I was kata otp and climbed to platinum in s7, also worked with other mid champs, so I was making worth fights and rotations if needed all the time, yna dtracing enemy jg...XD
excellent video
I need to play more of this game
for this to work you need to be a dominant lanner that shits on people and have a good escape/mobility tool.
these faker videos teach me sooo much ty!
what faker does is very good for high elo , for low elo because everyone makes mistakes and have bad map awareness best technique is to roam instead of harassing ur laner
i used this technique as adc it works too.. ;) but i almost always win any lane by entering it first start preparing minions and when they come get little trade which is 99% my advantage. but i usualy dont back away when i start loosing thats probably right play always..
Veigar should've just recalled anyways, right? Siege wave and ahri push lvl 4 isn't that strong. He wouldn't have missed siege minion. Unless ahri would have freezed. So wouldn't freezing be the best option?
It's like xPetu says: If you're winning, play safe, if you're losing, take risks.
Step 1, get a lead. Well shit
were u rushing deathcap on ahri those 6 games? also is it better to buy deathcap before ludens?
7:21
Sooooo... Noone talking about how Neeko cuddled with Zed there in bush?
7:22 lmAo the mutual recall
then what happens when you get ganked while smoldering and that jungler drop your hp alot ( if he dies or not ) then you have to recall after that for not dying on the midlaner who has more hp and he can do the smolder technique on you to push and match your recall
@@ragegaze3482 and if you don't suck at the game either you already smolder or you do not need to .. ^^
I just realized i was using the same technique at the first part of the video with akali without knowing it lol. I always double kill enemy jungle and midlanet with akali's huge lvl6 powerspike
The neeko recalling with faker is just... Great! kkskksks
Like mentioned in video you don't really need jg
dying to a gank is the laners fault like 99% of the time not your own junglers fault.
Does this work in top lane early because it’s easy to be gained if you shove up like that toplane
Ward more
Ward the opposing raptor pit around 1:15 - 1:18 and monitor which side the jungler starts at.
"How to carry as Froggen... with snowballs."
I mean I already noticed this while watching faker but can this be applied in other roles like adc or top?
oh, this is something i do regardless, but its very inneffective against teleport users which are the majority of lanes you can crush
How is it very ineffective? You force them out of lane they take a bad back , you recall come back and do it again
Thought I would learn something new here, but I main top and this is literally how it is always played.
if you are actually low on mana, by pushing you will be too low on mana to push the next wave, and they will get a free recall
That 7:22 recall was kinda sus :D
Tried this and it was fun to see the enemy struggle lol
This video could be called "Illaoi simulator 2015"
Your first example is moot.
People in the lower elo don’t cancel recalls to get a wave they keep trying to recall making your attempts to stop them kind of pointless
What about the inverse? How should you respond to being smothered?
A long while later, this strategy is actually ruining me. I did most things instinctually, and some details here pushed it just far enough that now I get bumped over to Loser's Queue: I'm the one that gets beat up by the smurfs on their losing streaks. But I do JUST well enough against most of them that I cant get back out.
Today I play Ahri mid to try this... Im at Gold IV:
I was playing agains a veigar mid...
GG
i loved this MOTHER tecnique!
And what should I do if I'm the in the position of the enemy (in disadvantage under the pression of my opponent using the smother technique)?
Dear skill capped!
Do you have strategy to up climb fast playing 2-3 times a week?
I love League but don’t have much time to spend there (family, work, sports etc). I’m ready to buy it asap:) yours 38 yo fan❤
So to use this technique just dominate your late and then test if it works by going to a lower elo to dominate the lane. Gotcha
That NEEKO recall got me fuqed up
i remember doing this accidentally back when i was low diamond in season 7-8, gp was ultra broken so the lane state would often quickly lead to me spamming Q and barrels under their turret until they die or recall
I like the technique but I have one question, what if they are under turret baiting you to push and then their jungler shows behind you?
Turn on jungler and kill him. If you Are too weak to kill enemy jungler you shouldnt crash wave to the tower.
Deep ward enemy jg then buy pink for the same side river bush , hover that side of lane and track jg
if you aren't strong enough to fight the 2v1 and kill at least 1, you shouldn't be hard pushing in the first place. Unless you play a champ like zed and can W out over a wall for guaranteed safety.
thank you for these infos :)
The fact that the best strategies are literally not to play, but instead to run off and just afk, shows what an utter disaster this game is.
Good video, but isnt this just using lane Prio to its fullest?
Are there any video on how to recover when on the receiving end of being smothered like this?
It's happened to me a few times when I just did not know how to continue playing because the enemy laner would just keep scaling. I couldn't engage without potentially feeding, and I could not farm with out being zoned, couldn't even farm under tower without being harrassed.
I imagine with a team you could get assistance from ganks or roams but in solo queue this seems like a hard shutdown.
i actually started doing this on accident and i went from a 36% winrate to a 63% winrate (in silver tho ik not impressive)
2:08 he says what it is
this also applies to all other lines exept jg
PLEASE GET THIS GUY TO RENARRATE ALL OF THE VIDEOS ON YOUR WEBSITE.
there is only one true counterplay to this. just win in lane and apply this technique yourself. if youre the one getting shoved under tower, good luck.
So basically this guy just explained basic league IQ
but what should i be doing if the enemy has a lead like that should i recall and lose a wave or stay with low hp?
I love the guides, but it feels like the commentary on the video was sped up and pasted together to removes pauses. It's really hard to follow.
its called being good
Junglers right now rubbing there hands together
The enemy jungler recalling right next to faker 😂
y'all see that neeko whiff hextech protobelt tho
So we’re not going to talk about how neeko and zed recalled side by side?
Used this Technique and got a fully flamed team, everyone running it down (Emerald, btw..). 👍🏽
Great tip! But what if 3 or 4/5 of my team are 0-10..
What elo is this? Champs that can get lane priority/bully are usually recommended for lower elo
@@hi_im_dran are you suggesting a player who consistently loses lane will have a higher winrate than a player who consistently wins lane?
Our next move if we were faker?....
Me: Win the game :D
does this work in top too?
13:31 vibranCY ENGAGE
@@kalenthedon8546 ah yeah ok ty
Where i struggle doing this is when i play against someone like garen or champs who just have insane sustain like what am i supposed to do there when they dont give me the possibility to deny their healing
you don't do this if you don't have the capability to poke them under turret or dive them, At that point you are better off freezing and forcing them out of tower. Or building up a big wave to crash and recalling, which will keep them in lane clearing the minions while you walk back, giving you a temporary lead until they recall. then you can push
