From what I’m reading online, most other pedals are “takes” on the BB, as changing components and values here and there, even minimally, will yield a different sound (to varying degrees). Whereas the Blues Crab is not so much a “take” on the BB but a straight up clone, component for component, and even Snause has said as much in the forum.
It's pretty darn close to the old Marshall BB pedal imo, for the price. Mooer make a few killer pedals. That sounded sweet through yr Tweed! I have a Vick Audio Mt. Pleasant and Keeley 1962x, and the Mooer certainly *does* have some sweet spots. I just leave it on my jam board, it's good on its own or for stacking. There's almost a mid-shift that is built into the gain, you're right. Discovered that during a jam session. Turned gain up a little - hello!
Just received this today, sounds incredible. It "Maintains Your Tone" and adds grit to it. The Gain and the Level are connected, lots of volume level in there. The Tone control adds some really nice "Hair" on top if needed, its not boosting mids and cutting low end like most tone controls....Don't worry about these vids, their tone is not good and this pedal will not fix it! Crap in crap out, Awesome in Awesome out, seriously get it! ;)
In the 90’s I bought a Marshall Bluesbreaker out of a junk bin (missing battery cover) for $20 At my local music store…wish I’d held on to it..I actually preferred my original boss OD-1 at the time for a blues sound with a telecaster/pedal/bass man set up.
While I dont have a bluesbreaker, it has been on my radar (being a Mayer fan)... You touched on something interesting... My guess is perceiving it as a "defect" or "quirk"... The OG Bluesbreaker pedal v1 was intended to sort of emulate the sound of the actual Marshall "Bluesbreaker" Amp. Those old Marshalls were known to brighten up with more volume (ex, Clapton's stinging Les Paul tone on Mayall's "Beano" album), and the Marshall BB pedal reacted the same way for that reason. The tone is very much incorporated into the other settings by design... so the fact the Blues Crab does this seems to indicate it's a fairly accurate recreation of the circuit (from direct a/b comparisons I've heard)... I'd love to hear a comparison with the Sonicake Blue Screamer as it's supposedly a Dumble/T.S clone (it has a toggle to switch between a loud and warm setting), however the Warm setting (supposedly t.s) doesn't sound like a T.S at all... Some people in forums complain about the low output thing, but that just shows it accurately behaves like the B.B pedal circuit... requiring the pedal to be cranked up to get to unity gain and the EQ being tied together with the other controls... The Blues Crab and Sonicake blue skreamer even look identical minus the toggle switch I'd love to see a comparison on those two, as I own the Sonicake and wouldn't want to buy a Blues Crab only to be buying the "same" pedal twice.
I just went the DIY route. Ordered circuitboard and stuff. Guess the Mooer easily has obvious drawbacks even not soundwise. Small, quality switch(?), tiny knobs etc....

Apparentlty with that direct copying also the coupling between OD and Tone is a thing copied from the original is known to do.

I picked up a Mooer pedal a few weeks ago on reverb. A little pitch box out of Canada. Fun little pedal.

Great playing Jack, and that wee pedal sounds really good.
I’ve got one but haven’t really dug into it much yet. Got it cheap enough though.

Lipstick pickup from Danelectro?
I have, blues crab, od2r and shredmaster, and my chain order is that, what do you think?
For the record, i gave you 1 crab, not to be confused with crabs....
…I need an adult 😐
Is the blues crab a digital recreation? Or an analog drive?
Those lipsticks sound great.
Yes
Does it work well as a boost?
Hello, very nice demo. I've seen your nux morning star demo video, how would you compare the mooer blues crab to it?
I think the Nux is overall better and more versatile
Blues Crab or Blues Mood?
Steve is the shit! 👍🏻
Green Mile + Blues Crab 👍👍👍
I Wonder how it sound in mix with tube screamer
It's good, thick sound, doesn't have to be a 'real' tubescreamer either, I use in combination with several choices of genuine/ copies
D range is too narrow
