WOW!!! I've told you several times how impressed I am with your project problem solving skills, but this one was over the top. I didn't want the video to end. I wasn't joking at York when I told the guy at the Classic Toy Trains magazine booth that he needs to come back to your house and do a feature article on the new Standard Gauge layout. It is well deserved, and it's not even finished yet. Kudos to you Sean.
Sean, that upper level is a masterpiece! I just love the turn-of-the-20th Century heavy iron industrial look of the trackwork and that classic station platform fits in perfectly with the whole scheme of things. That classic Strasburg 4-4-0 and cars couldn't ask for a better place to run, it looks right at home! And you know, those blue LED lights make the layout look moonlit! Nice effect! Well done! Well done indeed!
Sean, I don't think Joshua himself had a layout this nice. Great use of all the running stock and accessories. Of course your lighting would have been a little ahead of the 30's.....😊 Sean, you're setting a new Standard for all hobbyist.
A very great video on the upper loop completion, Sean. The station platform and the lattice surrounding the upper tier look amazing. The Strasburg making its journey around layout a wonderful sight to see. Thanks for keeping fans up-to-date on your progress. A really creative use of materials.
I just finished the whole video. Looks like your ideas came together very nicely. I think this is the first time I seen one of your standard gauge trains in operation. Please run them big beautiful trains more often. Really enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the next one.
I have done a few videos with some running. But once we get the layout finished in Stage 1, we will start looking at the engines/rolling stock which is always fun.
The use of the large Erector girder looks great and painting them made it look much better. I was supposed to pick up an erector set at York, but the seller wasn't able to be there this time.
Sean, I love the long-form stuff. I watch these videos on my TV so I rarely comment (can't do it on the TV app). Looks great. I can't wait to see the old 4696 piper. 😉 😢
It's ok, all my engines will clear fine except one. She can run on the upper level! I could move the side trim up an inch, but I really like the look at its current position.
Hi Sean, you’ve done an amazing job on this layout, the track edging is very inventive indeed. Request; for us who don’t like the loud sounds of whistles and chuffing could you do two films one with and one without the train sounds, I’d really like to simply hear the sound of the train running against the track with nothing else. Also please could you make the train go slower as the journey is over too quick and looks like it’s going round and round a little too quick, many thanks, Rob
Sean- great stuff here. I am actually learning a ton of stuff I wouldn’t have even thought of. I have a question about wiring and your main power switches you installed on the outside and inside.
Could you have used shrink tubing instead of the cloth electrical tape? Also could you have run the wires for your lamps through the tubing supporting the platform??
I love all of your videos. I am curious about the platform canopy. It looks too new to be a vintage Ives but does look similar. Can you share who makes it and is it new? Thanks.
I had everything all bolted down and secured by the time I thought about adding lights, ha-ha. No way to drill a hole without removing the platform. You can't even notice the wire. Besides an original Std Gauge layout would have had wires running all over, lol.
Hi Sean, The platform looks great. Don't platforms usually lay flush with the opening of the train doors. Would it be a little easier to run the wire on the inside of the metal tubing down to the bottom of the board so the wires won't be seen? Keep up the great work. I'm taking notes on everything I'm seeing so I won't don't get stuck, but part of model railroading is always getting stuck somewhere and then try to solve the problem without giving up and just skip it all-together. Thank you for your time Sincerely Allan
The layout is fantastic! The passenger cars on the elevated level are so unique I would like to hunt for a set, can you tell me what model and numbers to search for?
When you built the Standard Gauge layout using the Mianne product what height did you use? What is the height of your O gauge layout? Do you have a recommendation? Thanks.
The O gauge layout I used 36 inches (counter height) but dropped it to 32 inches for the Std gauge layout because the trains are so much bigger/taller. I actually prefer lower height layouts, but you have to remember you still have to get underneath them. So, it's a balance!
@@seanstraindepot Are you happy with using 36" on your O gauge layout? I am trying to decide what to use with my O gauge future plans. Love your videos.

This is amazing. The design is perfect for a 1920s/30s layout.
Sean, what a wonderful job! Enjoyed every minute of the video...thank you.

Sean, you're setting a new Standard for all hobbyist.
HA, yeah, I have to control myself for this layout and not put in too much technology!
Glad we got to see the Strasburg train. That thing looks great.
That is one of my favorites, the color combination looks so good. Plus 4-4-0's are my favorite engine type, in any gauge.
I Really love the Erector Set look with the standard gauge layout, and you really nailed it with the passenger platform.

Sunday morning, coffee and Sean's Trains!
Sean, you knocked it out of the park. It looks fantastic. My hat is off to you!
Enjoy. 😊
Beautiful job Sean!! Absolutely great ideas. Bill 1:09:36
Well architected, engineered and constructed! Thanks for sharing all the great tips and solutions. Love the platform!

Sean, it looks totally amazing, GREAT JOB!!!
Really, it looks like a joint collusion of Erector and Lionel, unbelievable! Ron
Thanks!
Sean , that looks good.
The use of the large Erector girder looks great and painting them made it look much better. I was supposed to pick up an erector set at York, but the seller wasn't able to be there this time.
Incredible craftsmanship Sean....well done and it looks terrific ! ✌
This looks fantastic Sean!! Very impressive! Well thought of, well planned, and well executed!! Great job! Tom
BEAUTIFUL JOB!!!!! VERY TASTEFUL.
Excellent work.
Very cool. Turned out great!!!

HAHA, Thanks! A lot of people today don't have the patience to watch long videos anymore.
Looks terrific
Simply Amazing!
Sean,I love the Steam Punk theme, looks really cool.
True artist.
Wow, really nice!
GOOD JOB
Real nice video.I have that glass station also.
looks awesome
Beautiful
Idea. To get better clearances under the upper level you could flip the trim up.

You could spray paint the wire for the color you want. That is a great set for the platform. Is that standard gauge?
Its ok, you can't even notice the wire. Yeah, this is all Standard Gauge.
looks great sean. how about a video running trains on both levels at the same time.
Coming at the end of the build! 😀
I love all of your videos. I am curious about the platform canopy. It looks too new to be a vintage Ives but does look similar. Can you share who makes it and is it new? Thanks.
I believe they are the Pride Lines reproductions. Seller wasn't sure.
Great video! Why didn’t you just run the brown wire inside of the post?

The inside of the tube has the wood support that bolts to the platform, so can't run it inside.
Beautiful layout all around.
How did you secure the green carpet to the board?
Simple spray adhesive
The layout is fantastic! The passenger cars on the elevated level are so unique I would like to hunt for a set, can you tell me what model and numbers to search for?
Thats the Strasburg Set - 11-40097 made by MTH under the Lionel Corporation Tinplate Branding.
@seanstraindepot Thanks for the reply. Love the layout.
Great trains, great videos! Try and get rid of the Ugh’s!
Sean,
These L E D light strips you installed looks nice, but do I have to own an i phone or could I have a android phone or tablet?
I got them from 3rd Rail Sunset models.

@@thomashemak9768 If I was building it over again, I would probably go down to 32 inches. But I am only 5'8 so I would still fit under it ok.
Sean,
Can these channel brackets be used on O-Gauge, or is it for standard gauge setup only?
Its whatever you want, no rules here.
What is the metal material you used for support of the upper level I am trying to build one where did you buy the metal posts, thanks Martin
Check out Episode 3 of the Upper Level. It's all in that episode!
@@seanstraindepot thank you
Giant trains
HAHA, yeah, they are big, but that where it all started for Lionel.
