Seriously though, watching this opening cutscene, as an average gamer, you just feel like something is WRONG. You can't tell precisely what it is, but you can feel it. Watching Barry show me the little things that made me feel that wrongness is so satisfying. XD

Nah, Bethesda wanted what they sent out. BigRedButton didn't get the end result they desired, therefore they didn't try enough. Bethesda wanted to make a game to make there company appear like a "sellable business", which they've now done (and were bought by microsoft). They also used 76 as a way of training thier smaller new studio. They made a rather enjoyable game, that achieved everything it was designed to do. Meanwhile, BRB made this as its first game. They practiced making games with this. problem is, this was barely a sonic game (well... thats debatable based on segas track record). It couldn't achieve that, that of which is as simple as running fast in a cool way. To compare: Both Bethesda and BRB trained new staff on making a game Both made their games for business purposes One achieved its goals the other didn't They both fell flat on their faces. The difference: Your still talking about fallout 76 right? As much as no one wants to admit it, 76 has mildly begun a redemption arc. Sonic 6oom was basically abandoned in a barely functional state. Of course each team has the excuse of new staff not understanding how to handle the situation, this doesn't mean they get to pawn off games as abandoned projects. Unlike boom, 76 (much like no mans sky) has tried to resolve that problem. activly working toward repair the game after a _very_ rocky start. Kevin does nothing if the Grumps doesn't tell him to and he always just like responds with the same font some lame meaning when the Grumps talks to him.
I love this so much. It really shows several points, for starters; 1.) SEGA doesn't give a shit anymore 2.) Barry's a very good editor because, 3.) he is attentive to what he does. and lastly, 4.) you literally can't go through the whole game without hitting some sort of glitch.
This game is the textbook definition of: “the higher ups told us to do WHATEVER it takes to complete the BARE MINIMUM of the features in the game so it ships on the intended release date”
I'm pretty sure the QA testers said they reported things, but were told to ignore any glitches that didn't prevent the player from finishing the game, but I might be thinking of Sonic '06. You'd think Sega might have learned their lesson after the reception to that one....
I feel so bad for the folks that worked on this game. like there is no excuse for the shit in this game. and all you can do is speculate what happened when they were working on it. like they are going to work on other projects and but they are going to say to future employers and companies "...yeah i worked on sonic boom..."

Like that part with Amy and Knuckles running along and Amy is running on nothing and Knuckles faceplants into something. That could have easily been fixed had they actually cared or noticed.

God I love going back and watching this video. It really is incredible how unfinished and unpolished this game is. The worst is that Sega KNEW how bad it was, that why they put an embargo on reviews. They were just scared of losing the potential gold mine of the Christmas shopping crowd.

Another thing I noticed. If you pause at 10:04, when Sonic picks up the crystal, there’s a portion of the tip of his finger that’s completely cut off. It’s the small stuff like this that makes you realize that they put little effort into polishing this game.
And more than the half of Sonic games are bad, But There must be at least a Sonic game loved by each Sonic fan, Because the Game itself was good... This is why Barry is a better editor. I love Kevin, don't get me wrong. I just wish Kevin took just a bit more freedom and subtle humor every once and a while. I see Barry as being more passionate and interested in the video editing because of the rare treats he would through in the videos.

I'm glad you guys finally published this separately; I kept watching it on repost channels because I wanted to see these scenes and didn't remember what episodes they were from.
Watching these videos back with the knowledge that the game devs were both rushed *and* given bad information that they had to fix mere months before release....just makes me feel bad for them. Like you can tell they *tried* with the modeling and plot.
This is the game where the developers were about to head out the door on a Friday after work when the boss pokes his head out of the office and says "hey guys, before you leave for the weekend, we need a Sonic game real quick."
Can I just say that I'm really thankful for GrumpOut? Usually with the Grumps' live-action sequences, there's compilations made, and there's inevitably something that gets left out because it's hard to find or it's not considered funny enough by the compiler. Not that compilers aren't awesome - but it's so nice to have all of these clips in one place. Now if someone is like, "Man, Sonic Boom is so good!" you can link them to this video and go, "Nope."
Actually, back in January, this game got a 1 GB patch that fixed a lot of the glitches. It didn't get everything, but if you buy the game now, it's not the massive disgrace it was on launch, by any means. Now it's just an uninspired, boring action platformer.

I've seen indie games in the alpha stage of development that had better graphical fidelity than this $60 game omg
Watching these videos back with the knowledge that the game devs were both rushed *and* given bad information that they had to fix mere months before release....just makes me feel bad for them. Like you can tell they *tried* with the modeling and plot.
I would watch a show called "My God, they made a video game." ESPECIALLY if Barry and Dan hosted it.
This is the game where the developers were about to head out the door on a Friday after work when the boss pokes his head out of the office and says "hey guys, before you leave for the weekend, we need a Sonic game real quick."
They made Knuckles so fucking unintelligent...... My favorite sonic character.... The person who made this new canon should fucking doe

Can I just say that I'm really thankful for GrumpOut? Usually with the Grumps' live-action sequences, there's compilations made, and there's inevitably something that gets left out because it's hard to find or it's not considered funny enough by the compiler. Not that compilers aren't awesome - but it's so nice to have all of these clips in one place. Now if someone is like, "Man, Sonic Boom is so good!" you can link them to this video and go, "Nope."

I really do wonder if these glitches are in every copy or if you get special glitches on different copies of the game?
Actually, back in January, this game got a 1 GB patch that fixed a lot of the glitches. It didn't get everything, but if you buy the game now, it's not the massive disgrace it was on launch, by any means. Now it's just an uninspired, boring action platformer.
