How to Save DICOM images 💿💽🖥️

This is a quick video that reviews how to save an image in DICOM or dcm format, rather than a jpeg. There are many different software programs so this video does not resolve everyone's problems, but it should help it most cases.
DICOM, which stands for Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine, refers to a standard format used for the storage, transmission, and sharing of medical images and associated information. DICOM images are digital images produced by various medical imaging equipment, such as X-ray machines, CT (Computed Tomography) scanners, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machines, ultrasound devices, and more. These images are used for medical diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient management.
Here are some key characteristics and features of DICOM images:
Standardized Format: DICOM images are stored in a standardized format that includes both the image data and metadata (information about the image), such as patient demographics, imaging parameters, and acquisition details. Do you know how to read the measurements taken by Doctor which is shown on the Dicom image? These values seems to be part of the image and not stored in any of the Attrib values in the Dicom file(unlike values like patient name etc).

Hello, yes you need some type of viewing software to open the dicom file. Depending on the software, there are measurement tools that can be used which are calibrated with the image.

PACS is not an app, it is software that allows for the viewing of DICOM images. In order to open and view DICOM images you would need a software program to do so.

The heart is on the left side of the body and may be on the left or right side of the image, depending on if it is taken A-P versus P-A. For example a thoracic spine image versus a chest image.

The program used in this example was 20/20 , however almost all viewing software has a method of saving the images in DICOM format.
