The strangest thing I ever saw on an X-ray was a dental tool inside a patient's lung. When he was having a dental procedure with his mouth open and head tipped back, the dentist accidently lost his grip on the tool and it dropped straight down the patient's throat and into his lung. He came to our hospital to evaluate whether to remove it. Ultimately it was decided that removal was too risky so I guess he is still walking around with it.

That’s why all dentists should use dental dams! They hate them, but if his dentist would have used one, this most likely wouldn’t have happened.

Absolutely jaw-droppingly fascinated. 20+ year nurse here and medically retired. You got yourself a sub! I'm wondering why those techs didn't remove the jeans in several of those xrays. Those artifacts could easily mask something small in the pelvic area. I've never seen someone who cared so little about the images they handed to the doc.

I was wondering the same thing. Where I live no x-ray in a doctor's rooms or private hospital is going to happen unless the patient is in a hospital gown and socks. I don't know if the state hospitals are the same or not because last I heard they were severely under funded, under staffed, under equipped and having many other major issues like no power or water or beds and linens or crumbling buildings. Scary.

I was diagnosed with cancer over 12 years ago, was treated and cured with chemo, after 5 years my insurance refused to pay for the normal scans so I now annually have two view chest x-rays taken. The first time the radiologist did this and looked at my x-Ray, she was surprised because she missed the bottom of my lungs on the image so she took another set and she stated you have some of the largest lungs I have ever seen in a man of your height. I told her, not surprising to me as I had been singing all my life with excellent breath control. The good Lord gave me those lungs to sing His Praises! Every year since, when I have my chest x-rays, she asks me if I still sing, and I answer, yes, in His Honor! 👨🏻‍🦳

Very interesting. At 3:56 you correctly identify the metallic densities as birdshot; but when you next show a retained bullet and fragments, you remarked that the appearance contrasted with the previous image of "buckshot". As I'm sure you know, birdshot and buckshot are quite different in size - 0.08 inch versus 0.25 to 0.33 inch. A birdshot wound is most often survivable; a buckshot wound is commonly fatal.

3:25 When I was a new graduate RN - holy cow… 30 years ago? Ugh. One of my first patients was a 19 year old male who was sleeping in the back seat of his friend’s car. They were involved in a terrible MVA and his friends who were in the front seats perished. This was before the natural course was to transfer pt’s to rehab/SNFs (skilled nursing facilities). He was on our floor and I had him as my pt. for 6 weeks. Poor guy - his testicles swelled up like the one in your vid. No kidding - they were round and the size of a small cantaloupe. I remember wondering if he would be able to have children someday. He was very fortunate to have survived (he had other injuries too - I believe a broken pelvis and leg were a part of it). I remember he was in so much pain. All he wanted was ice packs and, when he needed breaks from them, it was almost too much for him to deal with when his pain meds started to wear off. Poor guy.

20 year nurse here. In my day, for major injuries and medical conditions, (before the opiate 'crisis,' when we actually _treated_ pain without judgment) we gave pain meds consistently to try to prevent peaks and troughs. Did they not they do that in your day? I wonder because you are referring to an issue of that type.
