    Disney has a problem with brand creep since it killed off Touchstone and acquired all the companies it did which all have adult content, especially fox. Disney+ meaning to be a competitor to Netflix can't keep all just classic family entertainment, maybe once they totally buy out Hulu they can move al the marvel/lucasfilm/fox stuff to there and make Disney+ just disney family stuff, but then they also have other networks like Disney cable tv for that as well, I think they always intended Disney+ to have more of a range of content just like Netflix.

      I completely agree with you. I remember back to those Touchstone days. You knew that is where the edgy Disney stuff was produced. I would be fine with what you suggest. Keep Disney+ the family content and Hulu everything else

    You've had a very different Disney Plus than us in Australia but that's because we didn't have Hulu and some of the other services in the US. We had more not kid friendly content from the earlier days.
    Taking your point of going back 20 years, going back to 2003 you have Pirates of the Caribbean. While sure not a bare butt anywhere it was certainly very suggestive, full of innuendo and more mature content (not adult only maybe but teen and older probably) and violence and such.
    I'm not a parent so my views will be informed by that, like yours are as a parent. Personally I believe as a parent you should do the parenting and not require apps and society to do it for you. Set up the filters if you feel you need those tools. Don't make the excuse that it is inconvenient. They also shouldn't need to not create content geared towards an older audience or create a whole different streaming service for it.
    This said it couldn't be that hard for them to make a version of the app that is already restricted for all profiles. Call it Disney+ Kids or something. Then only allow G and maybe PG rated stuff on there. The bigger problem with a "kid friendly" restricted version of Disney+ is drawing that line. What's acceptable for a 3 or 5 year old is not the same as a 10 year old even. Let alone once they start reaching the age of like 15.

      I understand completely where you are coming from, and I value your points. I think those of us with kids may see it a bit differently, and that is fine and understandable. But I do parent my children, and I am protective over what they do watch. But there should be a place, like Disney+ where I shouldn't have to worry about there being Mature content. Naturally on Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc, I have locked down their accounts and restricted their viewing permissions. But I don't want to worry about having to do that with a service like Disney+. I feel that should be just for kids. But I get where you are coming from :)

      @@InLikeFlynns I also appreciate your point of view. Rereading my comment I can see some of it may come across a little aggressive which wasn't my intent. Differences of opinion and people wanting different things is normal and discussion is good :)
      They really should just make a different version of the app you can install that only includes the more family friendly content. That way you can install that on all the ipads, tv devices etc you want and then on the parents personal devices, bedroom TV (if they have one) etc you can have the full open platform if you want.

    I honestly don't care whether or not there is semi-adult content in Disney stuff. What bothers me more than anything is horrible writing. Sad to see so many people making this about the sexuality rather than the promiscuity.
    Media in general spaces has gotten much more sexualized lately, and I'm starting to grow uncomfortable with that even as a Millenial on the cusp of Gen Z.
    it could be two men, two women, a woman and a man - with 1 or both or none transgender -
    but it seems to be becoming more and more common to have films feature 1-2 sex scenes that feel unnecessary, like they're trying to appeal to a small demographic looking for sexual gratification from every place.
    I do not believe sexual content should be seen as bad but it can be uncomfortable and inappropriate for younger children, just like gore and serious themes like miscarriage and suicide. I wish producers and distributors would give people a way to enforce their own boundaries on these topics without having to look up each film.
    Again, this is not a statement against LGBTQ+ relations, which so many seem to be trying to make it out to be.

    I think this video and people speaking up about this is very very important. People like us were silent for too long in order to get along. I'm done "getting along" and being silent, it's ruined our society and the things and places we enjoy. Like Disney parks and Disney+. They think they can keep including this degenerate garbage in their content and we'll keep lining their pockets.
    Same with the parks and how they hired a man to play maleficent at wilderness lodge. I had planned to go there until I saw that, now I never will. Disney, as much as I love it and what it used to be, is walking a fine line with me and I've given them thousands upon thousands of the money my family works hard for. Great video, thank you!

      Traditional Disney love stories are historically acceptable, to think otherwise would be silly. For children specifically I would say pushing homosexuality scenes in children's content is problematic, especially for families with a Christian worldview. I don't know any parent that agrees a corporate entity has the right to steal their child's innocence in the name of homosexuality. The box office shows evidence of this and I'm pretty confident the election next week will also prove these points. Parents both Christian and non-Christian have had enough of this. Christians are instructed through Christ to love thy neighbor (neighbor being christian and non-christian alike). However its clear in scripture that Christian brothers that live in sin such as homosexuality are to be loved, counciled, and provide support to change their sinful ways. And if the person continues in sin they are to be ex-communicated. Non-Christian gays are to be loved and treated with decency with the hope that one day they will find the grace of Christ.

    • @rpmnh
      @rpmnh 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@PinGorilla That's a problematic viewpoint, especially if it's coming from a Christian perspective. What you have described is thinly veiled prejudice, which is immoral and unGodly. Perpetuating discrimination by justifying "the pushing of heterosexuality" but not the same, fair and equal treatment for gays is not only unfair, but immoral and unethical. The same was true when "good" people justified inequitable treatment of groups of people in the past, e.g., African Americans, Native Americans, women in some contexts, etc., etc. It's interesting that we as a society collectively never seem to learn to understand that arbitrary discrimination based upon inherent characteristics of an individual is very wrong, regardless of how we attempt to rationalize it. It appears the targets of such unjust treatments continue over time, but the intensity and degree of the reprehensible treatment for any given target may change as new targets are added over time. It appears that there is always a need for some to overtly discriminate for some reason. To do this in the name of God is an anathema to Him and all that he stands for. The good news is that justice and God's true message about loving one another wins out in the long run, regardless of those who battle it. Peace.

    • @PinGorilla
      @PinGorilla 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rpmnh I would argue that it's the truth in love for my fellow brothers in Christ to be right with God and make it to eternal heaven and not discrimination. If you are not a Christian and are gay you are treated with the same kindness and decency as a straight person. I don't know what god or what scripture passage you are referring to but I assure you as an Apologetics student I have seen no such message in the context you have written in scripture.

But this general tendency continues to raise my eyebrow. That aside, there's a difference between "kids" and "Family" entertainment. Disney has not been a strictly "kids" brand since my old ass was a kid. They even had rated R films through Buena Vista when I was a child. But the idears i had as a kid when i had the disney cable channels and in general just watched any Tv with kid entertainment. i would honestly just leave as soon as some live action sit-com or anything like that would come on, it is often just horrid. like i got alot of older disney movies and kinda am in awe of how quality has fallen, with many shows these days just being repeats or trying to do some edgy political humor on gender roles and what not.
    Then again i am not sure if certain shows that had these adult themes, i mean the show made by the Jim henson company called "Dinosaurs" is one, i mean they have 3 episodes that have some rather mature content, like idk an episode about drug use, one about steroids and well one that involves inapropriate behavior on the workplace. so many other episodes have interesting topics that can be fun for kids and adults. i mean i coulden't really stop laughing at some jokes due to just now that i am much older i just get alot of the jokes and sometimes how timeless and releatvant something from the 90's could still be to this day.
