  • Thom Strizek has lived in Fond du Lac for all but the youngest years of his life, and had a blend of local public and private school education before dropping out of high school and pursuing being a polymath. He’s had many jobs from steel fabrication to cheese making, CNC operation, and his current career as a utility locator, which he’s held for 11 years.
He spent six years volunteering as a leader in the local Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Girl Scout groups to which his two children have belonged, and currently chairs an eponymous non-profit.
He has more hobbies than his wife wishes he had, the largest of which are woodworking and design, but has also included computer repair, vehicle repair, writing, performing, reading, language, and tabletop role-playing, to name a few.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx. Just talked with Thom, enjoyed the conversation, and he mentioned and gave me the URL for this talk. Funny who you meet, and what can happen, if you talk to folks. And that's a modern problem, in that folks are in such a hurry, that they seldom talk to, or listen to other folks.

I have known Thom for years. He listens, and he answers to the point, usually with more knowledge than I have on almost any subject. He is good people.

@@marymckinnon5313 I'll say this, he talks in a language I can understand, and about things that interest me.....like building a world....and in these uncertain times....that's something of great importance to all of us......not that we're ever going to "need" to....but only that it is possible....and more importantly.....that if it is to happen....it's up to us....

being able to anticipate the potential thoughts and potential actions of others in advance, is a very valuable skill........can you say diplomat?.....or arbitrator?
