@@mohamedbinishaq3169 the doshaguma set bonus requires you to clash or use an offset attack. And seeing as how blocking attacks causes clashes, it would stand to reason that the set bonus works with GL's shelling scaling
As a gunlance main since FU I approve this video. Things that I'd like to point out though that weren't in the beta. Is shelling types and power. There are 3 types of shelling each encouraging different playstyles. Wide: Highest shell damage, lowest ammo. Specialize in poke shell, poke shell repeat and wyvern fire. In older games it recieved a damage decrease while full bursting which Im curious if thats back in wilds judging by the most ideal combo is multi-blast into full blast wyrmstake. Long: most range out of all shells, medium capacity (4-5 shells) specialize in charged shelling which once again dont know how it'll function in wilds. Seems like charge into wyvern fire may be ideal because 2 charged salvos instantly recharge wyvern fire but charged shells dont combo into anything. Normal: what most are accustomed to during the beta, lowest base shell damage, high capacity. Specialize in the full burst and now multiburst playstyle. Bad at charged shelling.
This is by far the most useful how-to guide for Gunlance on TH-cam. I was very impressed by Gunlance damage but couldn't really make consistent output. Hard to believe I actually enjoyed playing Gunlace, because I usually really prefer mobility. I can't wait for the next beta or the actual release to get my hands on it.
2 bits, 1 when you're doing your wyrmstake combo if you dont have a wyrmstake loaded it wont interrupt the combo it will just reload instead of doing the dmg but you can still finish the combo in its entirety. also when you wyvernfire after a wyrmstake the cast time for the wyvernfire is significantly shorter
I've been playing gunlance since I started playing MH back in dos, has always been and still is my favourite weapon and I can not express how much I'm in love with its new moves in wilds, point guards on those sweeping burst combos, quick and full reload!? So freaking good dude, love it.
You earned my respect bro. Instead of just yapping and hyping up the weapon, you gave a shoutout to caoslayer one of the OG gunlance players. Gunlance is indeed fun, it was between this weapon and bow for me, Sadly, with how the wound mechanic works, its always a competition between you and your group on who will pop the wound first, and bow is by far the best at doing this. With a bow user on your group, its almost impossible to destroy wounds with other weapons.
Why is this a competition? Some weapons get buffs for popping wounds, like IG and LS, also wounds shouldn't be popped right away and you should use them for the increased damage first. The question will be, if you hunt with people that know what they are doing or not, but its been always like this.
One of the biggest change they made is that the shells don't consume sharpness anymore. Also, you should try gunlance in Sunbreak too if you haven't yet, that was the most fun weapon in all of gaming for me.
The Bread and Butter: > Forward Starting Combo (Shell then Moving Swipe) > Followed by Burst Fire > To Wyvern Stake (Full Blast) > Then Combo Both Burst Fire and Stake WITH Guard Point without reload. (Multi Full Blast)

I’m going to be maining gunlance and great sword to fully take advantage of the offset and power clash moves also they were just my favorite in the beta
I was really thinking switch axe for my main, but I might do gunlance like I did in world. I need to actually try it first. I wasn't able to get to the demo
IG is of course the best weapon, even tho it's in a weird state rn. But GL shows how the removal of aerial/blast dash can be done properly. I wont put GL anywhere near my both IGs i'll be maining but it looks really good in Ruris streams.
I miss the aerial counter in the gunlance, but being honest its in the best state in years, so i cant be more happy about it because i love it so hard...
Hell yeah, Gunlance for the win! The only Question That remains now is if the beta gives false hope. I can't wait for the finale Release to see if Our Shelling damage with Potential Attack scaling and ( hopefully) Artillery Skill for late game will scale for good numbers or if they gimp the Shelling damage like in Rise so they can justify the scaling. ( In rise it was the reduced base damage compared to World apparently so Ground Splitter buff is not too Strong )
while I'm not crazy about drake auger move for breaking wounds, wyverns fire can break them in an instant, I've found it to be much more reliable. drake auger is just so drawn out and clunky to use or the monster moves and awkwardly cuts the attack on the wound short
2 sets of shells and stakes is disgusting when compared to World. Even in World the dmg isn't bad with one set with non-gimped MV unlike Rise Gunlance MV
I strongly disagree, you can do 360s TCS with the GS now. Like you *HAVE* to try to miss the monster. (Well unless they just run away, idk why they kept running every 3 minutes in the Beta)
They did awesome stuff for the GL. It feels great in Wilds, overall but this take on it is not without a couple shortsighted or head scratching flaws. For starters, making shells scale with attack is a really bad idea. This is because it kind of ruins the uniqueness of them and just makes them like inferior CB impact phials, without KO. They also added a ton of guard points on GL, diluting its identity even more into this knockoff CB status but that's merely a symptom of the Generations disease WIlds is infected with, where they ran out of ideas so they kind of just copied adepts style to fill in the gaps. The head scratching decision was making charged shelling basically a clone of full burst. It uses all the shells in the same way, or fewer than that if you don't hold it long enough, and the weapon notes in the beta didn't even say that long shelling is meant to specialize in that anymore. It doesn't mention anything about long shelling having any sort of value. Normally, as of late, normal shelling specializes in full burst by having the most shells for that and having a higher multiplier for it, wide shelling is better for basic shell shots, and long shelling is better at charged shells. Some games mess around with what type, between long and wide, is better at wyrmstake and wyvern fire but the rest is pretty set in stone. It's really odd tom rework one of those 3 GL has never been allowed to do good damage, outside of like demos like I think it was Sunbreak, the team has always hated the very concept of GL damage. This is because of how shells can decide not to care where you hit because of how they ignore hit zone values. The only time it really did a lot of damage with shelling was in Iceborne when they overdid it because slap lance was too powerful and long/charged shelling was way too weak. One of the few things Rise did that was healthy to keep in the series, that they will likely refuse to keep, is how they made a new skill that buffs damage and actually let that skill buff shelling damage with a percentage buff. That was the sneak attack skill. Because of how they've treated shelling in the past, players assumed this was a mistake but it wasn't. No one sane ever said that Rise didn't do anything right. Yes, they messed up quite a bit but they also did some cool stuff for some weapons.
Yep. Gunlance Being good Triggers paranoia of It Being Taken away be It With Guardpoint Changes or Shelling nerfs. I Like It as Is Right now only complaint for me Is No Guard Point With charged shells and Wyvern fire where the Animation uses a Shield.

How did the gunlance get so many awesome upgrades and the regular Lance get shafted so hard? Pun intended... All of its counters are gone, instablocks and the biggest attacks and only "counter" more a super armor attack are all locked behind the 3 hit combo with no shortcuts. That is correct the only available gunlance was the Hope variant which only had access to normal shells
