Why do all Mid Handicappers make the SAME mistake with Driver Ball Position?!

  • The subject of Ball Position in golf gets no way near as much attention as it should! You’re Getting the Ball Position all Wrong but it plays a significant role in how you hit the golf ball, whether you square the club face and what type of distance you can achieve.
    Ball position should not be set in stone and to be honest, I haven't really seen anyone cover this on TH-cam before. Instead, ball position is a variable and should be used to manage your swing path... but this isn't easy to achieve, so I have provided you with a way of understanding it a bit better.
    Driver Ball Position Mistake That Nobody Tells You comes about because people are incorrectly using the FEET as the reference point for measuring their ball position... please do not do this! The correct place to measure the Ball Position from is the lead shoulder.. and I will reveal why
    In this video, I'll demonstrate this common error using a lesson with Mark, who was suffering from the same issue, made these changes and noticed he gained control and power with his driver. He started to hit the ball longer due to understanding how to measure the Ball Position, he improved the consistency of all his shots!

    Has anyone noticed golf TH-camrs all hit on the same topic at roughly the same time? Usually in the same week you'll see Rick, this guy, saguto, etc choose the exact same topics. Case in point, I've seen several driver ball position videos in the last week eschewing the traditional lead heel.

    This is so timely! I went to a practice at a simulator this morning and realized that my club path was off because I was already arcing due to being set up too far forward. Glad to have my thoughts confirmed and a great way to see it visually!

    I remember watching a Mark Crossfield video years ago, in which he said "think about ball position as a playing field", some will find their optimal ball position a little further forward, some a little further back, totally dependant on how each individual move there body in the swing.

  • @JoeButler02
    @JoeButler02 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You have an older video explaining this same concept and it helped me immensely.
    I had a massive slice to the right that I've managed to mostly correct to a nice straight drive by moving the ball position back and really focusing on crossing my right arm over the left to close the club face during the swing. Exactly as you demonstrated in this and the older video.
    The next step that helped me make it more consistent was to "push" with my front leg to help bring my hips around fully. This I got from a Jake Hutt short.
    Now I just need to get the repetitions in to make it muscle memory.

    Alex I saw this video quite by chance before I went to the range this morning so I thought I’d try it . I can honestly say although there are a lot of Driver ball positions videos out there at the moment using your method I actually hit my driver the straightest I have ever hit it without doubt the straightest.So thank you and maybe all golfers struggling with their driver should take another look at their ball position

  • @lokidecat
    @lokidecat หลายเดือนก่อน

    I've wondered about this. Because it seems when i make a concerted effort to put the ball off my left heal, it seems to not go as planned, but if I naturally just walk up and get comfortable, I'm more like a club-head in, and it goes a lot more smoothly.
    Definitely trying this at the range later.

    Question, as almost everyone advocates having the ball forward in the driver swing, along with the shoulder tilt - Why/how does the club head not ground out before it reaches the ball....Especially as everyone advocates keeping the tilt/lean back, so you can hit up on the ball

      forgot to mention i’m encouraged about this because my fairway woods which i already play in the clubhead inside left heel position typically have a straighter or slight draw shape, while driver typically fades and harder to turnover.

    Great video. How come many club golfers all seem to have the same faults? Mine is on the downswing I find it so difficult to swing down to the ball. I suppose the reason is I feel I lift my arms in the backswing but yet find it so difficult to lower them in the downswing. I feel if I do this I will hit way behind the ball. Any suggestions?

    If you move the ball in a club head you don't seem to be hitting up on the ball as much. Isn't that going to affect distance?

  • @philipsutton9078

  • @robertlock8057
    @robertlock8057 หลายเดือนก่อน

    you talked about teeing up the ball b4 and playing it more forward, It worked got rid of my slice it hasn't given me any real distance tho. Now this video your saying move it back, I'm confused.

    • @strongisland7015
      @strongisland7015 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Moving the ball forward for you got rid of your slice because you weren’t closing the face fast enough. Moving it forward gave you another millisecond of time to close down that face. This tip isn’t set in stone. It was for a golfer who was swinging over the top. Having the ball forward only made his swing path worse.

  • @scottwhitlock9201

    I always felt like if the shaft on the backswing was passing just under the top of my right shoulder then it was on proper plane to do this but of course I never do it consistantly. This reinforces that. Gonna try this first thing in the morning. Yeah it is a bitch being retired and playing 3 times a week..about all I can do.

    • @strongisland7015
      @strongisland7015 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Alex isn’t saying we’re all doing it wrong, the tip is for someone who was swinging over the top. If you swing over the top with the ball forward, moving it back naturally makes you swing more from the inside. It’s not for everyone just for people who have an out to in path this tip could help them.

    Using ball position to fix your swing is inherently wrong. Yeah slight modifications is okay but moving ball position means you are trying to hit different type of shot. You gotta figure out what you are doing "wrong" in your swing. There is nothing inherently wrong with most ball positions; executing right swing path for certain ball position is what matters. If your swing path is outside in then put it all the way t the heel. If its othervise put it closer to the center; ie fade or draw.
