The video (no matter how much longer) not being 70% dicking around messing with memory or whatever in the lost woods and falling through the world makes this infinitely more enjoyable.
Finally finished watching the full run and have to say: you're an artist! It brings me joy to see everything so well orchestrated. Thanks for sharing this feat!
This is actually MORE impressive to me than the regular speed runs that last 10 minutes because you have to stay consistently paced for 5 hours and remember many more steps.
It's always very refreshing to be able to watch/listen to a full playthrough of a game but cut out any "unimportant" thinking time or procrastination by the player. Very cool, good job man :)
Not sure if you answer questions on this run but I've been trying out the path you take just for fun and learning. One point of confusion I ran into was in Water Temple (typical). At 2:18:30, you perform song of time, side hope down the hole and do a bomb drop at a broken wall and immediately cast Farore's wind. A few moments after, you kill a skulltola and use Farore's wind again and are conveniently placed up some levels in the water. When I attempt to this same path, upon using Farore's wind, I'm simply ported back to the room where the Royal sigil is to use the Song of time to make the water go down. Was curious if there was any elaboration as to what you are doing at this moment of the run. Thanks!
Setting Fafores wind always sets it to The last entrance or room u Set it at. So what I'm guessing is u enter The room with 4 Spike balls and come Back out before setting FW point. So Be wary when you use farores wind, in My run I do it while waiting for The bomb to explode to save some Time since I cant move at that point but you can Set FW immediately after entering water temple as well to Make it warp you to The beginning of The temple.
@@zmyr88 yes and no. The heat timer comes up first delaying The expiring of trade item timer. I think its more of a exploit than glitch. Its unintended but so are Power crouch stabs which are impossible to avoid unless you didn't crouch stab at all. The game is Simply too broken so some things The community has just decided to allow
2:37 when you did the beautified technique to score some illness, I was like "wow this is a purified nugget if I've ever seen one." Thanks for the hussle and keep bombing that cabbage lil brother. Feed your cat.
So glitchless restricted means you can still use glitches, just not srm tricks based on what I'm seeing? I like this style of speed run, the srm stuff just takes the fun out of it. Just trying to make sure I understand the rules. Great run!
SRM is banned in both glitchless rules unrestricted and restricted. Restricted just bans more things like damage boosts, hover boosts, touching exposed loading zones, being out of bounds. Unrestricted only bans tech that are considered glitches/ unintended behaviour and doesnt care about how broken results the allowed tech allow for (skipping Ganon Castle trials för example)
This is beyond impressive. I’m a noob here, what makes the fishing so difficult? I gave up on that mission when I played this game many years ago when it first came out.
Its not that its difficult, its luck dependent. You want it to bite at the right time as soon as possible as adult, as child its usually much easier and less luck involved but I just got unlucky there as well.
Its allowed since it uses bombs hitbox that pushes Link to stay near the ice then use crouch stab recoil to gain backwards speed and hit the heart piece. Some runners have also asked about this but it has been allowed because it uses basic techniques and isnt completely clipping inside the ice, only partial which is normal with all squishy collision actors like rocks and these red ice things.
@@RTA64 that makes sense i could see it as basically jsut the same as how the player walks around, very strange compared to how you might play as a casual or as "intended" but just the same as you using the physics to skip a lot of puzzles, thanks for reply man i see you out here lol
No, the lizalfos take 6 damage before dying I think and 1 damage being kokiri sword slash. Deku stick does 2 damage and furthermore doing a jumpslash attack does double the weapon damage. I exploited the crouch stab mechanic by slashing the deku stick before the breakable wall in main room to store a damage value that crouch stab uses to deal damage for some reason. So first hit is 2 damage and next hit is deku stick jumpslash so 4 damage. The lizalfos flee after taking 3 damage so this way you can skip the 2 cycle fight completely. Hopefully this clears things a bit even though its a bit complicated.

@@RTA64 Though these tricks you mentioned are fun. I don't appreciate that much "memory manipulation", where things happen seemingly "from nothing". They're certainly great discoveries but not that fun to watch from a totally layman perspective. xD
@@phelpsnodt5856 Yea damage boosting isn't a game breaking thing compared to Stale Reference Manipulation (SRM) but for glitchless damage boosting has evolved so much so it was decided that we had to have a different category for it to preserve the idea of glitchless beating all the dungeons and ganon's castle trials.
What's the trick behind "down shield" thrust? Was it always that strong, superior even to Jump Strike, or is there a technique involved? =O You cut bosses like paper. Ps.: Sorry if it's a dumb question, I don't play the game in years. xD
I think you mean crouch stab right? That method of attack is bugged in a way its damage value is the same the last attack you did, thats why the jumpslash before is done. This bug is called power crouch stab but isnt banned because it would ban crouch stab attack completely from runs which would be dumb. But yea the attack can deal as much damage as jumpslash which hits the most.

It makes it so the purple effect doesnt come up when Zelda opens the gate and can save 1 frame from not lagging as much. Tiny timesave on Wii VC at least but it doesnt really hurt since we dont need magic or arrows for ganon
The crouching shield attack he used doesn't have any specific damage, it just uses the damage of whatever was used last. The strongest attack as young link is a jump attack with a deku stick. So all you need to do is do a deku jump attack to 'store' the damage value and then use the crouching shield attack to inflict that high damage quickly.
I understand, this run is faster than the current record but those minutes fishing were horrible, I wish you could make another attempt one day, greetings.☺
Very impressive gameplay. However I hate to be the guy that gripes but this isn't 100%. You skipped all of the dungeon maps and compasses, didn't rescue all of the gorons from the fire temple, didn't plant all of the magic beans. I won't count chest unopened since that would only count as supplies (rupees, bombs, etc) other than that I would say perfectl
It's not up to you what constitutes %100. That he planted beans means nothing if he got the hearts. Seriously, dude. People work at this thing every day, dedicating hours of their life for perfect performance, and you're gonna complain about compasses? Take a look at yourself.
Why does this seem to have higher FPS than it should? It is too quick. The Japanese version is superior compared to other main versions but this isn't hardware. Something seems off. If this is original HW its an overclocked N64. These frames are too fast.
