It's all about wrist or fingers?
pranagrunge it's all about wrists, because Toms and floor Toms don't have the rebound a snare drum could have
this exercise isn't about going fast. it's about performing singles with your body in irregular playing positions, like left hand on second floortom.
to get speed, practice fast stuff on a surface with no rebound at all, that'll train the muscles on top of your wrist to lift/assist the stick up when you lack rebound, the fingers should always assist the wrist, which is assisting the arm. it's all one motion. you just focus in more on the smaller muscles the faster you go.
from:
arm/forearm/wrist/fingers.
forearm/wrist/fingers
wrist/fingers
fingers.
though fingers would only really be used on their own for things like blast beats on snare and ride cymbal at like 280+bpm.
Its a combination of being very relaxed, having strong hands, and being very good at the muller technique. The rest is just letting GAWD take over
Thump Drums customs!
And btw does anyone know what pedal he's using?
Bill Day it’s a dw 9000 pedal.. the footboard looks different because he sends it somewhere to get milled down and smoothes out the logos because he said the footboard logos and text would tear holes in his socks.. other than that, it’s a regular dw 9000 pedal lol.
