700 ml. of oil to refill the sistem. This is the best video, most direct method from several 4 or 5 videos i watched available in you tube. Great tips an detailed explanations. I just did it yesterday all resulted perfect.
Thanks a lot for taking the time for putting this excellent video, and share it. I started my comments with the system oil capacity, as is an important data none of the videos mentione it.

Just did this yesterday and without this video I’d of been clueless on this pump! I will say if you’re gonna do this job then I’d go ahead and pull heatshields off on the beginning just for sight and cleanliness reasoning before draining pump. Lol. Mine was awd model so I think after watching your video it was slightly more difficult but still very doable if you use this video to guide you. Definitely have to take the back 15 mounting bolt off by using long extensions and coming from underneath/back of the vehicle. The transfer case/driveshaft hinders being able to reach in from either side. And when reinstalling new pump I found it easy to get the 16mm return line started before putting in any mounting bracket bolts. Then after I got it started I started the outside 15mm mounting bolt then I did the inside 15mm mounting bolt with the long extensions from underneath. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video! May of took hours but it saves hundreds!!!

What a good video. I used this to do my mother in law's 2011 Chevy traverse awd, it worked. It will slip by the driveshaft and flex exhaust with very little movement. Not even to break the flex. I really didn't want to drop the subframe because it just got lined up about a month ago at most. Worked out good

Thanks for this excellent video, it give me the guts to do the job!
It is full of details and I raise my thumb up because doing this job while holding the camera and show everything we need to see would have been a real challenge!
I just finish the job on Acadia 2011 AWD and I only have to add one extra step to have enough space for the pump to go thru the hole: disconnect the drive shaft at the propeller. there was missing only few millimeters to go but no choice, have to disconnect it!
There is also less space to work and it is harder to see from the front side on AWD. I'm not mecanics and it works for me so, anyone can do it! I need also replace the pressure hose too because the bolt was seize to the pipe so, I had to cut the pipe to be able to undo the bolt...
I asked two garage to do this job and no one wanted to try your way and they all quote the long way so, doing this myself make me learn a lot and save many extra buks ;-)
    Thanks again.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I replaced the power steering pump on my 2014 AWD Traverse this weekend and, as others have noted, the transfer case and rear driveshaft do get in the way. However, following a tip on another video, once the pump is loose, there is enough room to position the pump so that you can get the pulley puller on with the pump still in the engine bay and pull the pulley off. With the pulley removed from the pump, the pulley slides right out. You have to Tetris the pump itself just right, but with it flipped around backwards, it will slide over the engine mount and you can remove it from the wheel well without removing the heat shields, exhaust, differential, or having to drop the cradle at all.

Great video - thanks for taking the time to do this and help everyone else with the knowledge you gained!
I did this job this weekend on my 2014 AWD Traverse and, as others have noted, the transfer case, exhaust, and driveshaft do complicate matters. However, following a tip from another video of the power steering pump replacement, with the pump loose from the engine, there is enough room to position the pump so that you can get the pulley remover tool (which you can rent from AutoZone) on the pump with it still in the engine bay and remove the pulley. With the pulley and the pump separated, the pulley slips right out through the wheel well. Then you have to flip the pump around and Tetris it just right, but the pump itself (without the pulley) will also slip up and over the engine mount and roll out of the engine bay through the wheel well without having to remove the heat shields, the exhaust, the differential, the driveshaft, or drop the engine cradle.
Installation is the reverse of removal, rolling the new pump up and in over the engine mount through the wheel well. Then flip it around to face forward and slip the pulley back up and in front of the pump, install the pulley press tool, and press the pulley onto the pump in the engine bay. Once the pulley is pressed, installation proceeds as shown in the video. The whole thing probably would have been easier on a hoist, but I did it on the ground with jack-stands.
Also, as noted in this video, there is that 10 mm bolt on the side of the engine, accessible from the top, that holds the hoses in place. Rather than removing it as noted in the video (and then trying to reinstall it), I just loosened it a few turns and it gave me enough freedom to move the hoses out of my way. Much easier to just tighten it back in place than to try to reinstall the bolt.
If it hadn't been freezing (multiple breaks inside to be able to feel my fingers again) and started snowing, and I had known the right way to Tetris the pump out, I probably could have finished the job in an hour and a half, maybe 2. As it was, it took me about 4 hours over 2 days (mostly due to the finger warming breaks).

Had the pump pulled and new one installed in about 2hrs. Just dropped the exhaust, made it abit easier for me and pry'd on the AC lines out the way some - with some maneuvering it came out.

Great video...I think it's the only one that can help answer my question. At 24:50 when you are installing the non-pressure elbow...does the o-ring go inside the pump or does the o-ring go around the end of the elbow and then insert into pump? I think I saw a green o-ring in there which tells me I should insert the o-ring into the pump and then secure the elbow. I don't know why I am so confused with this...I put the o-ring around the elbow end and it's leaking. I assume that's what I did wrong! Thank you for taking the time to make this video!

    • @s33therfan
      @s33therfan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes , I believe the o ring just sits there on the pump , I really do not remember there being a groove. It should not be an issue with low pressure but it could be it needs a new o ring. Thanks for watching.

@@s33therfan thanks for the reply. I found out the O-ring supplied with the pump was the wrong size. More details for the benefit of anyone that might read this… it was barely the wrong size, but wrong nonetheless. It was slightly too big. The old pump had a beveled “entrance” which allowed that larger o right to squeeze into place. This replacement pump has no such bevel but a sharp, cornered entrance so a larger o ring would just get cut on that sharp edge. If I put the two rings together, it’s very hard tell the difference. To gauge proper fit, when you push it in it should “snap” into place and be flush with the pump.

    • @s33therfan

I did not use a filter. If you decide to , place it on the return line ( rubber 3/8 hose ) somewhere between the rack and pump area. Thanks for watching.

Hello, hey I have a 2012 Chevy Traverse LT trying to put the power steering pump on and I'm having the trouble that when I drop the subframe on the passenger side it's only going down two of the four in required to pull the power steering pump. Can you think of anything I could have done wrong?
