Hey guys. I don't normally comment on these types of videos, but thought it was warranted this time. I got home from work last night and found a puddle of coolant under my wife's Acadia in the driveway and diagnosed a bad water pump. While I normally do all of the work on our vehicles, some of the videos I had seen from this process made me scared to even touch the thing. However, after finding this video and watching it through a few times just to get an idea of what the process looked like, I got the job done in less than 4 hours this morning. Going step by step through a decent size job like this makes all of the difference to a DIYer such as myself, and I know the $300 plus that you saved me is just a drop in the bucket compared to all of the money you've saved everybody by making these videos over the years. Thank you so much for the production and leaving these up for everyone to see as time goes on, and I want to encourage anyone out there that sees a daunting task like this to take it one step at a time, you might surprise yourself with what you are capable of.
First off thank you. Just finished this job on my wife's vehicle. It was at the 10:30 mark that changed my life. I now understand why you did not show the removal of all water pump bolts. To anyone thinking of doing this, please be prepared to get creative and add some tools to your arsenal to help get to them. It's one thing to be able to reach them, and something completely different to loosen/tighten them. My wife's vehicle, 2014, had an additional ac hose that limited clearance. Still doable, but there were moments of frustration. Again, thanks for the video walk through. I couldn't have done the job without this. Saved me a few $$
This is probably one of the best instructional videos I’ve ever seen. This video should be used to show others how to make instructional videos.. This mechanic was in a clean and quiet environment. He had everything planned out. Camera angles were perfect. Thank you very much.
Excellent guide! Just used this to replace my sister in law’s water pump that failed in a spectacular fashion. Complete failure! Thank you for this video!
My friend Just to let you know You’re good explaining the process , patience is the key for a job well done correctly !! No recheck .... My respect to you 👌
This might be the best video I’ve ever seen on TH-cam. Sooooo easy to follow along with. A calming voice, easy to follow instructions. Just perfect. Made the task so much better. Thank you!
Today's date September 7 2021. Hands down the most helpful and thorough video for these years of Acadia's. Why this vid has 15 thumbs down, not a clue. Stop searching for a better video. Multiple High 5's to the TRQ team. Edit; A couple of things to note. The Acadia I worked on had an extra line with insulation and a P strap mounted to the frame in front of the waterpump. It made the job a bit more difficult. This technician states the orientation of the waterpump. That is critical. A tip. Mark the old pump and block with a sharpy or something. Once you remove the old pump match it to the new pump and mark it . The bolts in the kit I used did not have the blank or start point as the OEM bolts do. That alone made the job miserable. If you don't have a torque wrench you can rent one from the auto parts store for free. They take a deposit but don't charge the card. Once you return it. They give all of it back. The dog bone shaped engine strut. When reinstalling put the small end in first. The one in the Acadia I worked on needed replacing. I do stand by my earlier comment. Hands down the best video for this job.
Great video. Much more effort needed than the last one I helped replace on my old 71 Monte Carlo. My 2012 Acadia (150K miles) still has the original serpentine belt so I think it's definitely worth replacing it while in there seeing it's such a PIA to get to it. Thanks!
The difference between this guy’s patience and yours, is that you need the car to be ready for tomorrow to go to work and if you are watching this video, most likely are finding out how complicated things are getting.
I want to give a big thanks to this man, great video! Thanks to you, I did my first water pump fairly! But this helped big time! Save me family money, thanks again!
Great video thanks, Just did a 2008 enclave 3.6 was able to drop it out the bottom saved so much time, also did a starter to, directions say to remove the cat but I removed the motor mount next to the cat instead as I didn’t want to deal with breaking the exhaust studs, the top bolt on the motor motor was tricky to get to so I removed the oil filter which helped, worse motor I’ve ever worked on, I swear they make it as hard as possible so you take it in

I would like you to help me if you have the video on how to change the buster break of GMC Acadia 2007 it would be very helpful to me because I look and follow your videos they are very subtle they have helped me a lot
Thank for the instructional video. The last one I did I pulled the fender well out and had to pull all the pulleys out of the way. It was a chore. And call me weird but I did like the fact the mechanic used several different brands of tools. Wasn’t all snap on or Marco. Even saw some good old craftsman in there. Doesn’t seem like a tool sponsored video. A lot like my toolbox. Always say doesn’t matter what brand it is just as long as it gets the job done. Yeah I notice dumb stuff like that
Great video. Thank you. I did have an AC line infront of the pump but i was able to move it a little. Great time to replace the belt but I had to remove wheel and wheel well to get access. With the wheel off I lowered my jack all the way down and it low enough to reach in easier. I also found a busted motor mount so inspect that once its removed.
Question had some mechanic change my water pump he did it from under the car 😮 my antifreeze is orange and that's same day I had neon green fluid come out my car and now my AC don't work turns out the green stuff is ac refrigerant was this caused by him changing the water pump
I just replaced it and as soon as I poured the coolant it started dripping. I couldn’t tell from where so I’ll have to disassemble everything again. Must be the gasket, I’m not sure. I didn’t have a torque wrench so I did it by hand. Any thoughts on what it could be?
local mechanic shop wanted $2000 is that normal? He stated it would take him 15 hours to do. Thanks for awesome video. Not sure if I can tackle it but well done.
Hello question my wife has a 2014 Denali Acadia the bulb seem to be burnt out so I replaced it that's not the case any suggestions I checked the fuses but they seem to be fine any other things I could do watching the video you just showed I'm wondering if I should disconnect the fuse housing and put it back on because a couple of months ago they had to replace the water pump wonder if it could be corroded or something thank you
Hello. Thanks for making this video and it helps with understanding on how to get the job done. however, was there any difficulty with getting to the 10mm bold on the bottom of the water pump?
I have a 2015 acadia, and when I got down to the water pump, there was an ac line right in the way. It's different from the one in your video. Any ideas on what I should do?
also get the bottom bolts of the pump from underneath with the tire off, much easier. When you get the belt back on push the tensioner harder to put more resistance on the pully of the pump so you can get those bolts nice and tight on the pulley.
@@TRQ yes sir, I have the gasket I was just asking if I should apply silicon sealer paste to the gasket. They told me that at the auto parts store when I bought the pump. Thank you for uploading this procedure. The videos that I found, they remove the tire and have little view of what they're doing. I can see everything on your video.
Lol, I took off the whole front bumper cover and headlight assembly, plus the inner fender liners and passenger wheel, to get it out. But I might take off these other parts like the fuse box to put it back in, that might make for a more secure replacement since I could get to it better.
why was the water pump changed?...was it leaking?, or did you have a different symptom? I have one in at the moment, everything has been changed but the radiator and water pump.
Just read on the Acadia forum said to tighten to 89in lbs 2 passes and then an additional 45 degrees?!? So this might explain why I found a stripped thread in the block
I Follow everything until Taking the belt off, I Have NO Idea how you "loosened the belt". Now I'm stuck.... Probably not your fault, but I Have no Idea what you Did there
10 minutes is a rough estimate. Hold the idle around 1500 to both speed it up and to actually get the engine to circulate the coolant and help push the air out. Leave the cap off and have the heat on high after its up to operating temp shut it off a minute or 2. Then top off coolant. Then repeat it again. after a couple start stops it'll burp it all up generally.

Yes this video did help me to get it done. My wife acadia has passed the test drive. Thank you.
I like how you did it from the top in the video catering to the ppl who don’t have lifts showing a diff way and not taking apart the front bumper lol
Your explanation and breakdown made it so easy for me to do this job with no issues whatsoever. Thank you so much! Very appreciated brother!
You made installing the gasket and pump and tightening the bolts look so easy. (Not that easy!) thank you for the video!
Great walk through. From the breakdown of the to putting it back together in reverse. Made it very easy.

Would it be easier to access it from the bottom side?

That's the best way. With a JDMON water pump, I personally add permatex2. the gaskets are cheap.

you can bend the brackets back easily enough by hand and give yourself just enough room to do the job. Just did one today.
also get the bottom bolts of the pump from underneath with the tire off, much easier. When you get the belt back on push the tensioner harder to put more resistance on the pully of the pump so you can get those bolts nice and tight on the pulley.

Did you jack under to hold motor?
Good job bro
Once I put the pulley back on, the pump would not turn. Is this correct?
