I've been doing crossfit like exercise for the past year and only found out about it this morning! It's awesome, its epic! I'm glad that I'm not the onl;y one who think that strength is measured by the size of your bicep or the amount you can benchpress! Crossfit for life!!!
Every morning when i wake up i have a choice, i could hit the snooze button and rest 5 minutes, or i could get up and get to work. I work because i don't want to reach the point where I'm tired and give the other guy an edge. But when i do get tired, and it will happen, i want to remember that i'v been there before, and that i got through it then too. Because when that bell rings, that whistle blows or that buzzer sounds, i don't wanna think 'what if' I'd just rather think 'I'm glad i did'.
@Striskelion It doesn't help your grip, it keeps your wrist from bending too far backwards. Bending backwards too much usually ends up causing tendonitis. You see it a lot in this kind of weight lifting because when you have the bar overhead, the weight forces your wrists down suddenly and it can be a serious problem.
I totally agree with you on quantity over quality, but this is more the rookies trying advanced workouts. To get to that level just as when you start powerlifting, careful and steady progression must be taken to get to that level. Just as you see crossfiters using bad technique, I see many powerlifters/ lifters in the gym lifting too heavy and using improper technique. I just cant understand the amount of haters out there. HIIT is so good for us especially with our obesity epidemic

While in principle crossfit has the right idea of "do things with light weights thousands of times", the mindset is often laden with "quantity over quality", with form suffering first, leading to abundance of injury. But @Grant6031, I weigh 140 kg, climb ropes, trees, etc, and can swim a few km pretty consistently. While I am impressed with the gusto some of these crossfitters have, they do too much to fast and hurt themselves.
Last I checked any form of competition would make it a sport, 'crossfit games', heard of it?:) its growing! its bigger than powerlifting comps already so hush up! Read back through what I said about bodybuilders, did not say you were comparing, but i'm getting the idea your a little thick, english isn't too great and you boring me with your reply's, at the end of the day if you hate crossfit, stop watching the videos...as you can see many more hits on these than californiastrength:-)
Its a state of mind in which they train for, its apart of what makes crossfit what it is...you train your mind and body to work through pain! doing a 10k run is childs play man:-) push-ups....if alone are useless for you as a powerlifter so why do them? so your a powerlifter who does biking....sitting down, typical lol so why the 10k run? keep bodyfat down?:-)
I don't understand the taping of the wrists either, thats kinda bad. Crossfit isn't bigger than powerlifting either. it's gaining steam in North America quite quickly as a fad, but powerlifting it HUGE in Europe. Hell, they have a 70+yrs Class in Finland!

On their website you can watch a good free video showing the right way to pack on visible muscle mass really fast while dropping excess fat as well. Kev and hundreds of guys with the same goal had amazing success utilizing this approach. I hope it helps you too.

STOP hating and get on with it...but don't undermine what these guys do...what they do with their bodies has broken our scientific understanding of training, respect it! they respect you guys for lifting big!
