Some things I like about watching Chris operate is there is very little wasted movement, his methods are forward thinking, deliberate and he keeps his work area organized. It all makes what he does seem easy,. Not so much as others working in their giant mess all of the time even though it is entertaining!

@@tommythetortoise5800 Discovery Channel had a segment on the oxygen level put out by trees. It was green house high, to the point of making too much carbon monoxide for our atmosphere. Now that was a shock. "They" want to dig out or burn the excess. I say wait. More houses will be built and more forest fires 🔥 will come, to do that work.

What will be used to control erosion? A rock wall? Cattails? Shade ferns? Enough sun for butterfly bushes? Interesting idea to go back and see.
My family had reunions from the 1920's to 1970's, at a family 👪 lakeside home. There were steps down to waters edge, and boulders to hold back the land. Great fun for the cousins ( there were 13 siblings making at making 30 plus cousins ----- first through the seventh generation. I am of the 4th generation. My great grand parents had 13 children. The most children of cousins was four or less in the subsequent generations.
    Anyway, fun at the lake.
Oh, the changes in clothing over the years! My grandmother wore a dress until her death at 84.

When I moved to Havelock, NC in 1994 after the base closings we were told that the air raid siren we heard was to call volunteer firefighters to the firehouse. Those guys were dedicated, even saw a guy in full bunker gear with a red light on his bicycle pedaling like mad on the way to the firehouse.

We have a Wellcraft St Tropez and we just tied it tight to the dock, put it in gear and idled up a few rpm's with the trim tabs all the way down. . Stopping and backing up a few feet at a time. @jayschafer1760 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Some older towns still have the pull alarms on outdoor utility poles that work, and which are rigged to the bells in each firehouse. The volunteer firefighters and many of the businesses and residents have a code sheet handy, so when the fire bells ring (for example) 3 times, pause, 4 times, pause, 2 times, long pause, repeat, they look up "342" on the code sheet and know within about a 1 block radius where the call for service is, so that they can head there and help. The system worked quite well in the age before telephones and 911 dispatch were ubiquitous.

Up here you might have got the water line removing the tree but the new house corner wouldn't be within 20 feet of the property lines. No permanent construction allowed that close. On one hand I'd love a house on a lake, but only in a climate where it didn't freeze, BUT I'd try to buy up a lot of the land to both sides so the closest neighbor was out of sight...

The first tree I took down with a mini-excavator, (5 ton) was a double-trunk white oak. I cut the 28" trunk because it was leaning away from the house, and I planned to do the dig-and-push method on the 22" trunk. After digging for an hour to break the roots, I had a 4 foot deep circle around it, and thought all the roots were cut. Ha! The tree snapped right off the side of the larger stump when I pushed it. Spent another hour digging to a 6 foot depth, all the way around the stump, breaking some huge, deep roots, and finally rolled it out of the hole. Couldn't lift it, and when I rolled it onto the blade, the blade wouldn't lift it, so I just pushed it into the woods.
