According to TFL, Ford Expedition sales are up 37% over last year. But they still lag behind Chevy Tahoe which dominates the segment. Both are nice vehicles. I'd lean towards the Ford but i think the Tahoe looks slightly better
After a DISMAL experience with a Yukon Denali, I decided to trade it in after only six months of ownership on one of these two vehicles: A Tahoe RST or a Stealth Performance Expedition. I liked them both, a lot. I liked the exterior of the Tahoe better, but the interior of the Expedition... I was still wary of GM quality control. The tainted memories of making six trips to the dealership in six months with the Denali still lingering in my head; so I ended up purchasing the Expedition. I have fallen in love with it. 440 HP and I still manage 22 MPG on the highway. The only thing that's missing, that I really wish it had is a heads up display.
@@Silverado58 Hesitating between the 2. The Expedition is def fancy (Platinum) and that ecoboost... ha! I would go with a diesel with Tahoe. The interior of the Tahoe is honestly meh.
Bought a 2022 Ford Stealth Max edition. 440 hp with 510 torque. It's a beast!! Metallic Gray wolf upgraded with ceramic brakes. Yeah, I'm that dude with the best SUV. Legal blacked out windows, of course. Never parked on the street. ALWAYS GARAGED or Private parking attendant used. I'm in Florida. It's a carry State. I dare someone try to car jack me.🎉
Love the Expedition Max Stealth. Add a basic e93 tune and you’re pushing 550 hp. Currently I have the 2022 ST Explorer and will upgrade to the Stealth Exp Max in a couple years when the boys are a little bit older. Got this after Hurricane Ian took out my Durango. Twin turbo V6 with a tune and never going back. These things are beasts and fun to daily drive
Chevy all day. The High Country Tahoe is for me. I have the jet black Chevy Silverado High Country and love it... Don't get me wrong Ford is good too, I have a Ford taurus and love it also. So I am not trying to be a Chevy fan boy I just think in my opinion Chevy is for me.. The inside of the Tahoe is sweet, but For Expedition Is actually freaking nice inside I will say that.
I was deciding between these two for my family of 5 and a big dog and went with the Tahoe. I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I also have a Ford Explorer and it’s pretty reliable for an 8 year old family car!
Both are very nice, expensive SUV’s and do the job well. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one and its a matter of personal preference. Personally I find the exterior styling of the Ford to be somewhat stale and outdated. My wife and I test drove both (back to back) and found the chevy to handle noticeably better, smoother and was quieter inside. Add in the adjustable air suspension on the chevy and there is no comparison whatsoever. The advantage of the air suspension for everyday driving, light sport mode or off roading, and towing/load leveling speaks for itself. Another interior option you did not touch on was the center power console on the Tahoe. While it may sound gimmicky, the wife loves the fact that with the console pushed back it gives her plenty of extra room to place her purse next to her and not on the passenger side in a large suv while at the same time bringing the rear cup holders and ac controls closer to the kids in the rear seat (less reach, less spills). My power plant choice is the 3.0L diesel - even at higher fuel costs (but same as premium for the 6.2L), the mpg just knocks it out of the park and 95% of the people would not really notice that there is a diesel engine under the hood - even standing by the hood with the engine running. very smooth.
We went with the 2023 Expedition King Ranch, very nice vehicle. Dealers in the Houston area are marking them down about $8K off MSRP and they have zero percent financing deals through early September. Seems like a good time to buy one before the 2024 models are coming in.
Thank you for this video. I have a 2021 Ford Platinum Max which I love but we're looking at a new 2024 Platinum Max potentially so I was also looking at Suburbans as well. (Yes I know this is a Tahoe vs. Expedition comparison.). I'm still leaning towards a new Expedition for the following reasons: 1) More roomy especially the second row, more modern infotainment system and with the Ecoboost engine for just $500 you can tune it and add +100 HP and +100 lb/ft of torque (I did this on my 2021 through 5 start tuning) and what a difference! Still the Tahoe IS nice but I'm learning toward the Expedition.
I have short videos on my channel, Expedition Acceleration, and I traveled more than two thousand kilometers on it. The car is strong, smooth, and ready for difficult terrain.
The Ford cockpit is too simplified up front with the controls, and that screen looks like they just smacked it on last minute. From the second row you can really see how much better the Chevy looks than the Ford, which just looks really cluttered imo
i’m going King Ranch. I like the interior better and you can lock the differential like the FX4 off road model. and I’ll replace the 22 inch rims with a set of 18 inch wheels with some all terrain tires.
These days I just need the room for the family and because of gas prices I would go with the v6 of the Ford. I would be happy with either. They are both very nice looking suv's
I like the Ford better, yes is it a little bit more money, yes but I feel like I get more options when it comes to the Expedition than the Tahoe. Where I’m from you’re LUCKY if you can find a Tahoe, and also I like the simplicity of the Expedition, but not the big screen.
All the knob/surfaces/instruments in the interior feel like a flash back to 1995 in chevys. I picture some warehouse with millions of door knobs that they have been using for decades and I have a hard time paying the price tag for this reason
This Ford is not their 2023 model for sure. I'm looking to buy a Ford. Currently I'm driving my first Suburban and it will be my last Suburban. We had to change out Engine for my car right after the 5 years warranty (2021 for a 2015 car!). It is a known engine issue, by going from V8 to V4, but most of the issues will show up right after the 80K ~85K mark. On top of that, my LTZ shock is one of those Magnetic ride. Each cost $700 part only (labor $300). All four went out within 3 years, so I had them changed for free. I got aftermarket shocks 3 years later, keep getting suspension Error message, which will limit max speed to 85mph and the ride is bumpy and rough. One reviewer said these are rich people shocks. lol.. so true. I'm buying a Ford now in 2023. We rent one for a sky tripe and everyone loved it more than my 2015 Chev Sub LTZ model.
I love my expedition and I have the 2023 max. I don’t get 18mpg and I get around 17.0-17.5mpg. I average it Everytime I fill up. My read out is 18.4 but never believe that read out! Friend of mine has the normal expedition and he gets about 17.5-18.2. Depends how he drives. His read out he says, is 18.7
I don't think this is a proper comparison necessarily but I understand what you were doing, however Fords are a wider vehicle and because of that they have much more cargo capacity, seats are softer in a Ford, Ford does handle a little more like a truck because of different suspension I am actually shopping right now for a new Ford expedition my current expedition has over 250 thousand miles and 3 large dogs and my crates fit in a expedition but not a Tahoe so for me expedition wins I would most likely select limited or king ranch trim
@@Ryan2022 I disagree, i literally just had this conversation with my son yesterday. Having to scroll though screens to make adjustments on certain systems is really a pain. GM has physical knobs, voice control and control through the touch screen. I like a lot of things about the Ram, but the touchscreen is definitely not well place in my opinion. That is just my opinion, for what it’s worth.
If we got those here in New Zealand, i would go the Chev. Ford New Zealand (nz) won't import American ford (we get the mystang. That's imported via Australia and converted to right hand drive. Only American ford they'll do). We do get one model corvet and 3 models of the silverado via Australia after they've converted to right hand drive. Chev (and their sister or big brother vehicles like gmc and buick) should build all their vehicles in right hand drive as well for us here in New Zealand and Australia. They would give us more options against the Asian and European vehicles.
These people that talk about the v8 sound, have never drive one against the other,i just traded in my wifes 23 tahoe z71 for a 24 limited expidition, and the 5.3 is a boat very slow vs the 3.5 who gives a shit about sound, its about performance, and the 3.5 will still run circles arount a 6.2.

I agree. The Tahoe sells you with all the bells and whistles and stuff but the Expedition will last longer and won’t shut down on the road!
